00:01Scott, 3-1 defeat against a strong Carlisle side.
00:04A performance uncharacteristic of the high levels you've set this season so far?
00:09Yeah, I think we made them look strong, to be honest.
00:11Some of the decision-making, some of the execution of passes,
00:15sloppiness, mistakes.
00:16When you do that against a really good side, they're going to punish you.
00:20Things that we've been really good at in terms of defending 1v1,
00:24defending our box, all three goals, get beat 1v1.
00:28Don't defend our box.
00:30When you do that, you haven't got a chance to win a football game.
00:33You had to change the shape to try and get yourself back into it, didn't you?
00:39Yeah, we changed the shape three times because none of it seemed to be working.
00:43Even when we did have a lot of the ball in the second half,
00:46especially for the first half an hour,
00:48we were just playing into midfield where we've got an underload of bodies.
00:52They've got an extra man in there.
00:54I just felt like we were a bit naive today.
00:56And that's probably down to myself.
01:00I tried to make the messaging as clear as I could,
01:02but people have obviously got to take it on board and be more receptive.
01:05But then when we did get into decent areas, the final ball,
01:08end product probably wasn't there.
01:13And when you do that or you can't achieve that in terms of putting good balls in the box
01:17or getting people across the front post and the basics of football,
01:19you're never going to win a game.
01:20So yeah, hugely disappointing.
01:22I think we're a lot better than what we've shown today.
01:26But yeah, we didn't deserve to win a football match.
01:28As I say, the levels you've hit regularly this season are sort of higher than that, aren't they?
01:32Just today was an off day, wasn't it?
01:34Yeah, exactly that.
01:35We've got, I don't know, 10 points from 18 games at home,
01:38which, listen, it isn't awful, but we wanted to make it a fortress.
01:41We need to make sure that we win our next game.
01:44Whoever that may be against at home, I'm not sure,
01:46because as you can imagine, my head's a bit cloudy.
01:48But yeah, we need to make sure that we react next week against Autrycombe.
01:52The lads are better than that, and that's the disappointing thing.
01:54I'll take responsibility always for the result,
01:57but there's some things that I can't do from the side of the pitch
02:01in terms of a moment of quality or a decision that they make, execution of a pass.
02:06And I just feel like today where there was too many people that were off it a little bit,
02:10and when you've got eight, nine players below par,
02:13you're not going to beat Carlisle United.
02:16And Isis came in yesterday and straight in for a debut today, sort of straight in?
02:20Yeah, I feel for him a bit.
02:21We obviously had to play him up top for the first, I don't know how long it was,
02:2520-odd minutes, and then Brodie has to come off.
02:27So we had to move him out wide and, listen, we didn't see the best of him.
02:30I think that he's going to be better than what he's shown today.
02:32It was a difficult afternoon.
02:34But yeah, we didn't play to his strengths.
02:36We couldn't spin a ball down the channel.
02:38Just the basics.
02:39You do get frustrated on the side of the pitch
02:41because it's a technique of just leaving a ball in an area.
02:44They did it really well and we didn't.
02:47So we never really got up the pitch.
02:49So yeah, it's an issue that we've tried to rectify by bringing him in.
02:53But we need players that can put a ball in an area for him to run onto.
02:57Brodie, too early to know how he is?
02:59Yeah, I don't know at all.
03:00I'm not sure.
03:00I think he said he tweaked his hamstring.
03:03Basil will be back in the next couple of days, which will be good.
03:07So if Brodie's not fit for next weekend, that might give us a solution.
03:11But yeah, I think we've got five players out at the moment,
03:15which is 25% of our squad, which is tough.
03:18So we need to box clever.
03:20We need to make sure that we look after the lads.
03:21I think we've been Saturday, Tuesday for the last maybe four or five weeks.
03:25And they do need a break.
03:26I think they're sick of my voice.
03:28I'm probably one that likes coming into training every day.
03:31I love coming in, but sometimes they just need to put their feet up
03:34and have maybe an extra day's recovery, which we might do.
03:37I wouldn't usually do it off the back of a loss, but in the long run,
03:40I think it might help them going into next week.
03:42Do you think that sort of full week to build to Altrincham
03:44to come at a good time then?
03:45Yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
03:46I really am.
03:47I think they're a very good side.
03:48They pass the ball very well, very detailed in how they play.
03:51And we need to make sure that tactically we are up to the level.
03:56Otherwise, it'll be a really long afternoon.
