00:09welcome to part 2 of the pocket pony series in this video tutorial we're going to learn how to
00:15crochet the body and how to sew the body to the head as a reminder if you'd like to get
00:22the PDF
00:22pattern download with all instructions for not just one but two versions of the pocket pony
00:29check out the link in the description box below now let's get started
00:39for the body we're going to start off with a chain two so here's my slip knot and now we're
00:48going to
00:48chain one and chain two in the second chain from your hook you're going to insert your hook and
00:55insert eight single crochets if you'd like to use the magic ring method instead of the chain method
01:02you're welcome to insert eight single crochets into a magic ring
01:17after you finish round one round two is to simply increase all the way around so going into that first
01:25stitch I'm going to increase by putting two single crochets into that same stitch in the next stitch
01:33increase again two single crochets in the same stitch and the next one increase next one increase
01:50and all the way around
02:09after you finish round two you're going to start on round three from round three to round eight um you're
02:15actually going to simply single crochet around we're doing straight rounds here without any increasing or
02:21decreasing so now's a good time to put in a stitch marker again I'm using this here and scrap because
02:29it is so easy to just pull out of yarn scrap from your stash and what you're going to do
02:38is just single crochet in each stitch around now we are going to meet back at the end of round
02:46eight
02:48so I'll see you in a little bit
02:54here is round number eight complete to finish off we're going to do round nine which is to simply decrease
03:02all the way around so going into the next two stitches you're going to crochet them together and repeat that
03:12around for a total of eight decreases
03:30I recommend fastening off with a very long yarn tail you will use this yarn tail to sew the body
03:37to the head
03:44before sewing the body to the head you're going to go ahead and stuff it of course
03:55after you stuff your piece we're going to sew together the opening of the
04:00um body the way I like to do it is to insert my hook into the um front loops only
04:09all the way around
04:10and I do a running stitch so I go in a front loop and out the next
04:17keeping the end lax for now in front loop out the next
04:29when you finish go ahead and pull your yarn tight and it will cinch up your piece
04:37so now the opening is taken care of and you can leave your yarn in a little bit before you
04:47sew the head and the body together
04:52for this next part we're going to sew the body and the head together
04:57um we're going to attach the four bottom stitches of round seven of the head and round seven of the
05:05body
05:05so those will go together like so and I've marked where the four stitches would be for round seven
05:13I'll show you counting down from the top that's one two three four five six and the seventh round is
05:22here
05:22so we're just going to go into the four bottom stitches bottom middle stitches between the eyes there
05:31and for the body um let's count from round one here's one two three four five six and seven
05:43so the um stitches will be sewn from around here that's one stitch two stitch three stitch four stitches
05:55and we will kind of sew those together and go stitch by stitch my best um tip for you here
06:05if
06:05you don't like sewing neither do I is to really take it slow and go stitch by stitch so for
06:13instance
06:13um I'm going to insert my hook into the very first or sorry insert my needle into the very first
06:19stitch
06:19I want to sew out of for the body and I'm going to match it up with the head here
06:26so I'm gonna um
06:29let's see one two three four five six seven okay here this is the very um front of round seven
06:40and
06:41here's the back of round seven so I'm gonna find the front here of the stitch I'm going into and
06:48then the
06:48back of that stitch over here we're matching it up
07:01and now I'm gonna go into the back of that round seven stitch and I'm going to um also simultaneously
07:11insert
07:12insert my hook insert my needle excuse me into the next stitch in round seven where I want to sew
07:21the next
07:22um set of stitches so here I'm working one by one let me pull this out a little bit
07:34going into the next stitch
07:37going into the next stitch
07:37going into the next stitch
07:38going into the next stitch
07:39going into the next stitch
07:40going into the next stitch
07:42going into the next stitch
07:43going into the next stitch
07:43going into the next stitch
07:53going into the next stitch
08:27So, after you sew the, um,
08:31stitches together, stitch by stitch, you should have this really clean and tidy look and the head will be attached
08:38to the body, um, like so.
08:44And now it's time to weave in the ends and fasten off.
09:03But the end is time to weave in the ends andittä.
09:04So, let's get started.
