00:13Today we're going to crochet SirSqueak, this adorable amigurumi mouse. The free

00:27advance for supporting me as a designer. Now let's go ahead and crochet this quick
00:32and easy no-sew mouse. Let's go over the materials. For yarn, I am using super bulky
00:42weight Chanel velvet here. This is Hobby's honey bunny yarn. I also am using a 5
00:48millimeter hook to go with the yarn. You'll need a yarn needle, scissors, some
00:56stuffing, and 12 millimeter plastic safety eyes. Let's go ahead and get
01:02started. For round one of the head and body, we're going to be starting from the
01:09tip of the nose, working our way to the back. So you're going to begin round one
01:15with two chains. Here's my slip knot to start my chain. And one chain, two chains. Then
01:26you're going to insert five single crochets into the second chain from your hook. So
01:32going back, here's that second chain from the hook. And I'm just going to go in and
01:39put in five single crochets. One, two, three, four, and five. And then you're going to
01:55increase all the way around for round two. So going into that first stitch, I'm going to
02:03insert two single crochets. Then I'm going into the second stitch. Again, inserting two
02:13single crochets. Continue increasing in the third stitch. Increase in the fourth stitch.
02:27Putting in two single crochets in each stitch here. And increase in that last stitch.
02:38After you have increased all the way around, you should have a circle of 10 stitches. Now
02:45we're going to move on to round three. For round three, we're going to single crochet and increase
02:50all the way around. What I'm going to do is add a scrap piece of yarn to mark my place
02:59so I can see
03:01where the start of my round is. You can use a stitch marker for that, but if you are cheap
03:06and lazy like
03:07me, just use a yarn scrap. Alright, so I've got it in there and now I'm going to start round
03:13three with
03:14single crochet and an increase in that next stitch. Repeat that around. So single crochet and increase.
03:31Continue on, single crochet, increase,
03:37single crochet, increase, and last repetition here. Single crochet and increase in that very last stitch.
03:54There we have it. That's round number three. For round four, we are going to do another set of increases.
04:03We're going to single crochet two and then increase all the way around. Here's what it'll look like.
04:10Single crochet one, single crochet two, and increase in that next one.
04:18Let's repeat. Single crochet one, single crochet two, and then increase.

04:54That's that for round number four. For round number five, what you'll do is simply single crochet all
05:01the way around. We're not going to increase or decrease. We're just going to work around. And I'm
05:08moving my stitch marker up a bit so that it's easier to see where the end is. But here I
05:15am just adding
05:17single crochets in each stitch around.
05:35After you have finished round five, you're ready to go to round six. For round six, we're just going to
05:41increase
05:42twice twice here. You're going to single crochet nine, and then increase, single crochet nine, and increase.
05:49That'll give you a total of 22 stitches when you are finished with the round.
05:53Let's go ahead and start. So single crochet one, two, three, oops, four, five, six, seven,
06:06eight, and nine. And then I'm going to increase in this next stitch.
06:15Like so. And let's repeat that around again. We're going to single crochet nine.
06:22One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. And in that last stitch, I'm just going to add an
06:40increase,
06:42putting two single crochets in the same stitch.
06:48That's that for round number six. For round seven, you're just going to single crochet all the way around,
06:56no increasing or decreasing.
07:27All right, here I am finished with round seven, single crocheting all the way around.
07:32For round eight, we're going to do a little bit of increasing again. You're going to single crochet
07:3710, increase, single crochet 10, and increase. That'll give you a total of 24 stitches in the end.
07:44Let me show you this first repetition. We're going to single crochet one, two, three, four,
07:52five, six, seven, eight, nine, and 10. And then in that next stitch, I'm going to increase.
08:26Like so. There we go. All right. And at this point, we are going to increase in that last stitch.
08:34So I'm going to pause to crochet the ears because this way we can keep the yarn ends inside of
08:40the head
08:41and tie them into a secure knot, keeping them from coming loose. So what you'll do is find where you
08:50want the ears to go under a stitch in round five. I'm going to count back here. One, two, three,
09:00four,
09:01five. So this round is where I want to put the ears. So for instance, if I stick my hook
09:10here,
09:11I want them to the sides and I kind of want the bottom. See where my, the start of my
09:17round is with
09:18the scrap yarn. I like the start of my round to be at the bottom of the amigurumi. So I'm
09:24just going
09:25to stick my hook into a stitch in round five to the side. This will be the top of the
09:32head.
09:33And now I'm going to pull through some white yarn that I'm going to use for the ears.
09:42All right. Start with a little bit of a tail because you're going to pull that yarn end in to
09:47tie.
09:48securely. And what you're going to do is attach that yarn like so. Chain two.
09:59By the way, there's an option in the written pattern. If you do not want such floppy ears and
10:07you want sturdy ears, you are going to crochet into the fifth stitch or the stitch from the body directly
10:17instead of in the chain. So crocheting directly into the stitch in the body is going to make it
10:23nice and sturdy. But I do like the floppy looking ears because I think it's rather cute.
10:31And then in the second chain from the hook, you're going to insert a half double crochet.
10:44Like so. And then insert a half double crochet.
10:54And then two triple crochets. Triple crochet would be yarning over twice.
11:01Insert your hook. Pull through a loop. Then we're going to yarn over. Go through two loops at a time.
11:07Two loops at a time. And the last two loops. I'm going to do that again.
11:16Here's my second triple crochet. Then you're going to insert a double crochet.
11:25A half double crochet.
11:30And a slip stitch.
11:39All right. Once you've done that.
11:50Once you've done that, you can go ahead and fasten off of the tail and you're going to pull both
11:54the
11:55starting and ending yarn tails into the body. And so let me show you how that works. Let's go ahead
12:03and fasten off.
12:07And let's pull that starting and ending yarn tail right inside.
12:26And I'm going to tie those two loose ends. Here's the starting and ending yarn tails.
12:33I'm just going to tie them in a very secure knot inside the body here
12:41to keep them from coming undone.
12:45It's much better to do this method as opposed to weaving in the ends because this yarn color is
12:54different from the body. So you can't make, you can't really weave the white through the gray.
13:02And pulling them inside isn't enough to keep them secure without tying them.
13:07So there you have it. There's one little ear.
13:10And now for the second ear, I'm also, I'm going to repeat these same instructions.
13:16Insert my hook into, um, a stitch in round five.
13:20So counting down here, that's one, two, three, four, five.
13:25And I'll want to kind of see where I want the ears to go.
13:29I like them to be, um,
13:32balancing each other out. Maybe around here would be good.
13:37All right. And I'm going to repeat instructions here.
13:44Attach that yarn.
13:51chain two, half double crochet into that second chain from the hook.
13:57double crochet.
14:06triple crochet. Remember that's yarn over twice.
14:12And then one, two, three. And let's do that triple crochet again.
14:19Yarn over twice.
14:22one, two, three. Then we're going to double crochet.
14:28One and two. Then it's a half double crochet.
14:38And a slip stitch.
14:44And you're going to want to fasten off with a long tail
14:48that you're going to use for tying.
14:53So I'm just pulling that yarn tail into
14:57my mouse's body here.
15:01Let's tug on that starting yarn tail. Make sure the stitches are nice and tight.
15:07And pulling that in as well.
15:16There you have it. You see the two little
15:19ears are done.
15:23Don't forget to tie your yarn tails together.
15:27And once you finish tying, you can continue on with the next part.
15:43All right. Now at this point, um, you can go ahead and also attach the plastic safety eyes.
15:53Um, I am using some 12 millimeter solid black eyes here.
15:59And I'm going to put them between rounds three and rounds four.
16:04Counting back. That's one, two, three, and four.
16:12One, two, three, and four. Right in between.
16:25All right. And after you are satisfied with the placement, um, by the way,
16:32I used 12 millimeter eyes here and they look a little bit big.
16:35So I am actually going to see if 10 millimeter eyes look better.
16:40You know, I kind of like these smaller eyes better.
16:44So I'm going to go with the 10 millimeter eyes.
16:48And you're just going to attach the backings to secure them.
16:56After you've attached the eyes and, um, added the ears to your mouse, it's time to keep working along.
17:03For rounds number nine to 10, all you are going to do is to single crochet around.
17:10So you're adding one single crochet in each stitch without increasing or decreasing.
17:19Let's go ahead and meet back at the end of round 10.
17:26Here I am with round 10 complete.
17:29For round 11, you're just going to do some decreases here.
17:34You're going to single crochet and decrease all the way around.
17:39And that'll happen eight times. So let's do a few repetitions together.
17:44Single crochet and decrease.
17:48We're going to single crochet these two stitches together as a decrease.
17:53Then single crochet and then decrease.
18:02Continue on, single crochet, decrease.
18:13And all the way around.
18:30All right, now that we have reached the end here, um, we're going to stuff the mouse.
18:36We're almost done with the body.
18:41Go ahead and add some fiber fill stuffing, making sure it's stuffed all the way to the tip of its
18:48nose.
18:52And when you're stuffing, do be careful not to stretch your stitches too much.
18:58So that, um, your piece does not have any gaps between the stitches.
19:38When you are all done going all the way around with a total of eight stitches at the end,
19:44you can go ahead and add the last bit of stuffing if you want.
19:48And then you're going to finish off with, um, a long yarn tail that you are going to use for
19:55sewing
19:55the little opening up.
19:58I like to wait until I finish the tail of my mouse before I sew up the opening.
20:03This way I can tie the two yarn tail ends for the tail.
20:09All right, so here's how the mouse is looking so far.
20:13I love its floppy ears.
20:16The tail is super easy.
20:18You're going to find where the back of your mouse is, the center back.
20:22So going down between the ears and the eyes, here's the center.
20:28And you're going to find that center stitch in round 12, which is the very last round you made.
20:35So about here would be the center of my mouse's back.
20:42And I'm going to attach yarn to that stitch.
20:46That's where the tail will go.
20:49When you attach yarn, have a bit of a yarn tail in the beginning so that you can pull it
20:53in
20:53and tie it with the ending yarn tail later.
20:57You're going to chain 11.
20:58That was one chain, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11.
21:07Then you're going to insert your hook into the second chain from your hook.
21:13And you're going to make a slip stitch, like so.
21:20Then go down in each chain to make a slip stitch.
21:28As you slip stitch along, you're making your tail a little sturdier.
21:39And we're just going to go all the way back to the start of our chain here.
21:54Then when you finish off, you're going to finish off with a yarn tail.
22:01And that yarn tail is going to be pulled into the body.
22:07So let's grab that starting yarn tail.
22:14And I'm also going to grab the ending yarn tail.
22:19There we go.
22:23And I'm going to tie.
22:26You'll see these are the starting and ending yarn tails for the tail that you just made.
22:32And you can go ahead and tie them securely inside to keep them from coming out.
22:43Like so.
22:44All right.
22:45That's that for the tail.
22:47And at the very end, you're going to take the last, sorry, the ending yarn tail here from the body.
22:56And a yarn needle.
23:00And I'm just going to thread my yarn needle.
23:06And the way I like to close up the hole is by going through the front loops only.
23:14And I'm going to put a running stitch through.
23:16So insert the needle into the first front loop going in and then going out of the next front loop.
23:28Let's keep this lax for now.
23:30We're going to pull it tight in the end.
23:33In and out the next front loop.
23:46And at the very end, I'm going to pull tight and you'll see that opening cinch up.
24:01And that's that for the finishing.
24:06It's so easy because this mouse is completely no sew.
24:11So you really just, in terms of parts, you really just need to sew up the opening of the hole.
24:23And I'm just weaving my yarn tail in through a few stitches of the mouse so that I can keep
24:30it hidden inside the mouse's body without coming loose.
24:44When I'm ready, I give my yarn a little tug, snip it off, and squish the amigurumi to let that
24:53tail slip back in.
24:55All right, and that's that for your little mouse, amigurumi.
25:05Here is my new Sir Squeak.
25:08I love his little ears and his little tail, and he looks like a raindrop.
25:16You can add some embroidery to your mouse if you'd like.
25:19Give him some pretty flowers, some beads.
25:23Give it little bobble stitch arms or legs if you so please.
25:28Or you can add in some eye whites by sewing or embroidering with white yarn to the side of the
25:37eyes.
25:37You can also give him a little nose if you'd like.
