00:00But without a doubt, the headlines have to be the National Football League.
00:04You know, the exhibition season shows us a lot on where directions the football teams are going.
00:10Look, if you don't have the number one position, the quarterback position, down pat, you're not going anywhere.
00:16I don't care what kind of coaching staff you have, and I don't care what kind of organization you have.
00:21If you haven't figured out the main and the number one position in all of pro football, the quarterback, you're
00:27not going to win.
00:28Ask Rex Ryan when he was with the Jets.
00:31Rex Ryan didn't have a quarterback with the Jets.
00:34He had Mark Sanchez.
00:35Still got to an AFC Championship game twice.
00:37But if you don't have that thing, slam dunk, and who that player is, you're not going to win.
00:43Well, how about this number here?
00:46As you move forward with the Cleveland Browns, and they're trying to decipher between Deshaun Watson and Shador Sanders,
00:53they have had this franchise now back as an expansion team since 1999, 42 different quarterbacks in 27 years have
01:04been a starting quarterback there in Cleveland.
01:06You talk about instability.
01:08You talk about not getting it right.
01:10That all starts at the top of Jimmy Haslam, the owner of the team.
01:13They can't get that position right.
01:15And what did they do?
01:16They went out and basically extorted Deshaun Watson to want to come and play.
01:23They basically bribed him.
01:25Please come and play in Cleveland.
01:27They gave him $230 million fully guaranteed contract to play in Cleveland.
01:35And he's only played 19 ballgames.
01:3819 ballgames.
01:40$230 million.
01:41And this Deshaun Watson, this version, what I watched on Saturday, it's the Deshaun Watson experience.
01:49A little good, a little bad, and kind of okay.
01:54That's the Deshaun Watson experience.
01:56This is not the same player that we saw throwing touchdowns and throwing big numbers up when he was with
02:02the Houston Texans.
02:03Something has happened here.
02:04Focus, the cases off the field, and all those comments that people were making about his character, he just doesn't
02:13look the same.
02:14And then you have Todd Munkin, who's got to try to figure this mess out.
02:17So then you bring in, well, we all know the media love.
02:21And that is, of course, guess who?
02:23That is Shador Sanders.
02:25Shador Sanders, too, when he got into the football game, folks, the visual eyeball test.
02:30You know, I tell people, when you're looking at a player and you're evaluating a player, use the most important
02:36visual and the most important test that you could possibly have.
02:40You know what that is?
02:40Your eyeballs.
02:41How did that thing look?
02:43Watson looked like a train wreck.
02:45Not bad in the first half of the game.
02:47But then as the game went on, it started to crumble around him, especially when he was holding on to
02:52the football.
02:53And then when they implemented Shador Sanders, he had brief and spotty moments.
02:58Look, I've heard people, as many as 10, 20 people, say that this guy is going to be a starting
03:05quarterback in the National Football League.
03:07Mel Kuyper swears that this guy should have been a number one overall pick instead of Cam Ward, who went
03:13to the Tennessee Titans.
03:15He is drafted exactly where he's supposed to be drafted, a fifth rounder.
03:20Cleveland has not figured this out, and they won't figure this out.
03:23These are the two folks.
03:25And then if you had Dylan Gabriel, who they also drafted the same year at Sanders, you really don't have
03:32a quarterback when you say you have three guys that are fighting for a job.
03:36Man, Cleveland had a really good roster with Miles Garrett the last couple years.
03:40Last year, they were fifth in total defense.
03:42If they had any kind of resemblance of an offense, they might have moved the meter.
03:47They might have moved the sticks.
03:48They may have been a playoff team.
03:50Oh, and by the way, if you'd like to reverse history and go back and ask yourself a question on
03:56history, how do you think that the Cleveland Browns right now, look at that Baker Mayfield decision?
04:02That Baker Mayfield decision that they made with him not being on that football team and going with Deshaun Watson?
04:10Mayfield just turned down a $50 million plus annual deal with the Buccaneers because the Bucs only offered him two
04:18years.
04:18He's turning down $50 million deals, and the Cleveland Browns are trying to battle it out between Shador Sanders and
04:27Deshaun Watson on who's going to be the starting quarterback.
04:30That's decision-making issues on why the Browns will never win.
04:35The organization will never win as long as Jimmy Haslam is the owner of that team.
04:41Just not going to happen.
04:43Look at it.
04:43It's been a train wreck for 27 years, and we'll be looking at more starting quarterbacks being rifled through the
04:50conveyor belt known as the Cleveland Browns.
