00:00One little NFL note for you. I think Myles Garrett's going to get traded.
00:04The Cleveland Browns just redid his deal according to Over the Cap.
00:08Yeah.
00:09And it's a significant change. So before the contract changed,
00:13the Browns would have taken a $70 million dead cap hit if they traded Myles Garrett before June 1st.
00:18After June 1st, it could have spread that cap hit over two years.
00:22It would have been $21.5 million this year and then essentially $49 million in 2027.
00:27All right. If they traded in pre-draft, though, it's still a full $70 million cap hit for this year.
00:34So why would they redo his deal? And here's the new deal.
00:38With the new language, the Cleveland Browns would take a $41 million dead cap hit if they trade him before
00:44June 1.
00:45If they wait till after June 1st, it's a $15 million cap hit this year and $25 million next year,
00:52which are manageable numbers if you're a team looking to get the best defensive player in the league.
00:58They also pushed back the signing bonus he was supposed to get 15 days after the start of the new
01:04league year,
01:04which would have been two days ago or yesterday, I guess, which is why they did this restructured contract.
01:11They pushed that back much closer now to the start of the NFL season in September.
01:15So to me, you're not saving money if Myles Garrett stays on the team.
01:21You still got to give him that signing bonus or whatever you want to call the bonus.
01:25Roster bonus.
01:25Roster bonus, whatever it's going to be called.
01:27If he stays on the roster, he plays for you, which tells me Myles Garrett's getting traded.
01:35I'm fairly certain that the Cleveland Browns are now open for business for Myles Garrett.
01:42Now, all the usual suspects are going to come out.
01:45Can the Dallas Cowboys get Myles Garrett?
01:47Will the Philadelphia Eagles show an interest in Myles Garrett?
01:50Well, I know they will.
01:51We know they had an interest in Max Crosby.
01:53And they had an interest in Garrett before.
01:55You reported that earlier during the season.
01:57Right.
01:58So again, and now, Myles Garrett's worth multiple number ones,
02:01even though he's in the back end or back half of his career.
02:05He's the best defensive player in football.
02:07Yes.
02:08And we've seen what recent trades have garnered this past year for top-level players.
02:16We even saw, heck, the New York Jets got two ones for Sauce Gardner.
02:20Right.
02:20Right?
02:21So I don't know if the Eagles have good enough number one picks
02:25because they've been so good to get them.
02:27But I think a combination of a player and draft picks
02:31would be something Philadelphia might consider.
02:34With the post-June 1st designation, A.J. Brown and 1st makes a lot of sense
02:39for the Eagles.
02:40Sure.
02:41And salary-wise, because A.J. makes so much money,
02:44it's not a huge leap to go from A.J.'s money to Myles' money.
02:48And the other part is they're going to try to give Shador a shot for a year,
02:53it appears, before moving on.
02:54Yeah, I think so, too.
02:55But they did not have a very good or really any wide receiver core to speak of.
03:00Adding A.J. Brown there would be a huge, for whoever's the quarterback.
03:03Yeah.
03:03And he's now the number one wide receiver there.
03:05Yeah.
03:06So now you've got a legitimate number one top ten target.
03:09The Eagles now have, if this deal happens, not even debatably,
03:13the best front seven in all football.
03:15Yeah, to have Carter and Davis to go with him?
03:18Crazy.
03:18Forget about it.
03:19Yeah.
03:19I mean, so now your defense becomes, you know, one of the,
03:23if not the best defenses in football, you get rid of a wide receiver
03:26that's been a pain in your ass.
03:27It seems like they've already considered trading A.J. Brown to the Patriots
03:31because there's a lot of smoke around that post-June 1st.
03:34But if I'm the Philadelphia Eagles, and I never saw what New England was offering
03:40to get A.J. Brown if he was ever got reported.
03:42It wasn't how he wanted.
03:44Whatever it is, it ain't going to be Miles Garrett.
03:46Hell no.
03:47Right?
03:47There's another part is the Browns also just happen to suggest the rule
03:51that you should be able to trade picks five years in advance.
03:56They're the ones who suggested it.
03:58Did that happen, though, or no?
03:59Not yet, but if it's happening after June 1st, it will have happened.
04:03Yeah, so this is interesting.
04:05Like, because I'm trying to figure out when I saw the report,
04:08and I don't know who actually reported it.
04:09I saw it on Over the Cap, which is the best website to go to understand
04:13what players cost against a cap.
04:15I'm like, there's no reason to do that unless you're planning on trading them.
04:20I agree with that.
04:21Right?
04:21Now, the trade also, you could agree in principle,
04:25the trade won't happen until after June 1st either.
04:27That's fine, yeah.
04:28You do the physicals.
04:29You do everything you need.
04:29I don't see any other reason.
04:31Now, remember, Miles Garrett requested a trade prior to getting the contract
04:36to be the highest-paid defensive player in football.
04:38And all of a sudden, it went from, you know,
04:40I never said I was coming to Cleveland and then going straight to a Canton.
04:43I'd like to actually win once in a while.
04:46Right.
04:46And he wanted a trade.
04:47He half-demanded a trade.
04:49And the Browns said, instead of trading you,
04:51how about we just give you a gazillion dollars?
04:53Okay.
04:54And he said, yeah, that's fine.
04:55I can live with myself.
04:56I knew how good I am.
04:58If I never win the Super Bowl, so be it.
04:59Look at my money.
05:00I'm good.
05:01Right.
05:01Like, my grandkids shouldn't have to work if they don't want to work, right?
05:04Right.
