00:00But here's the first ever meeting between Shadur Sanders and Todd Munkin. Go ahead.
00:06What's going on in there?
00:08Oh yeah.
00:10Hey, how about it?
00:11How's it going on, man?
00:13How's it going?
00:14How you doing?
00:15Welcome back to the Stacey.
00:16How we doing, man?
00:17Good.
00:18Yeah, we tried to draft your ass last year.
00:20It's all worked out.
00:22Yeah.
00:23You remember that, right?
00:24Yeah, that's what I'm about to tell you.
00:25Someday we'll get a chance to talk about that.
00:27Yeah.
00:28Yeah, possible.
00:29Sit down.
00:31All right, so that's Todd Munkin.
00:32That's all goody-goody right now.
00:33Smart.
00:34So here's what's interesting.
00:35Todd Munkin's not lying.
00:37So when Shadur Sanders a year ago was in the draft and it started to fall, I guess before
00:42the draft, I should rephrase that, you know, there's a lot of teams that did show some interest
00:47in him.
00:47Not as a first-round pick, but hey, you're a guy that we would pick.
00:51Maybe second, maybe third, maybe fourth, maybe fifth.
00:54Not fifth.
00:54I think the Eagles even had a grade on him somewhere in the third round, and they would have considered
00:58it there.
00:59And obviously, he starts to drop.
01:02There's a lot of people that claim that he dropped because he didn't interview well, had
01:06a bit of an arrogant attitude in a lot of these interviews.
01:09But here's what's interesting.
01:10Todd Munkin did want to draft him.
01:12I can't say I remember which round because I don't.
01:14But the word was when Todd Munkin and John Harbaugh at the time wanted to draft Shadur Sanders,
01:20someone representing Shadur, or it could have been him himself.
01:24I imagine it was someone representing him on agency, someone tied with his dad, whatever
01:29it was, told the Baltimore Ravens, do not draft Shadur Sanders.
01:33He's not going to come to camp because he's not.
01:36At that point, the ego is still in play.
01:39And at that point, Shadur Sanders still believed, I'm going to be a first-round draft pick, maybe
01:44a second-round draft pick.
01:45But I'm going somewhere to be the starting franchise quarterback of an NFL team.
01:50Now, the Ravens wanted to draft him to be the backup, of course, to Lamar Jackson, all
01:56right?
01:56And the Deion Sanders, Shadur Sanders, I guess, collection of advisors told the Baltimore Ravens,
02:04if you draft him, he will never put on a Ravens jersey.
02:07He is not signing up to be a backup quarterback to anybody in the NFL.
02:13And the Ravens were like, this isn't just anybody.
02:16This is the two-time, should-have-been, three-time MVP.
02:22And by the way, Shadur, the style of football that Lamar plays, there's not a guarantee, but
02:28there's a higher likelihood of injury, meaning that if and when he gets hurt, you would have
02:33a chance to play.
02:35You're not our starting quarterback.
02:36We are not drafting you to be our starting quarterback.
02:39But his arrogance, or collectively, their arrogance at that point was, we're going to
02:45be a starting quarterback.
02:46And Todd Munkin was basically alluding to that when he said, we'll talk about that later.
02:51Yeah.
02:51But that was a little awkward, no?
02:53It was a little awkward.
02:54Now, I believe that we'll find out, and I think Munkin probably found out right after
02:59that video cut, was it more Shadur or the team?
03:02I believe it was more the team than Shadur at the time.
03:06Well, the team wanted him to be the backup.
03:08No, no, I'm talking about his team.
03:10It was team Shadur more than Shadur himself.
03:12Yeah, that I don't know.
03:13But we'll find out right away.
03:16Perhaps being humbled, perhaps will make this relationship go better because the way that
03:22the draft falls, unless they love Ty Simpson.
03:25Yeah, it's a bad quarterback draft.
03:26He'll likely go into camp as the starter.
03:30I think that there's a good possibility there now.
03:32I would think that they're going to go get a veteran, you know, journeyman-type quarterback
03:36just to have a legit veteran presence there.
03:39A Tyron Taylor-type.
03:40Yes, something like that.
03:41A guy who's been around the league, who has started before, but isn't a true starter.
03:45Yeah, I think that they're going to have a veteran around him and Dylan Gabriel.
03:47They're not going to cut Dylan Gabriel.
03:49They've got to pay him anyway.
03:49No, why would you?
03:50But that's kind of how I view it.
03:52It's like, all right, you're now going to see what Todd Munkin thinks of you because
03:56say what you're wrong about Todd Munkin.
03:59Todd Munkin is an offensive coach.
04:01He is.
04:01He's the guy that's going to come in.
04:03He's going to be responsible for the offense.
04:05And for those of you that thought that Kevin Stefanski didn't want to draft Shadur, hated
04:10Shadur, or there was some kind of racial component to it, which is just asinine, stupid, or Kevin
04:16Stefanski never wanted him and he was making a point by not playing him, all that silly
04:21narratives that are out there.
04:22Well, now you're going to find out the truth.
04:24Now you're going to find out how does a totally objective, independent coach who had
04:29nothing at all to do with drafting Dylan Gabriel or not playing Shadur or not giving him
04:35a legitimate shot in the summertime, all this stuff that's out there.
04:39And a guy that said, I wanted to draft you a year ago to be my backup.
04:44Again, that's not offensive.
04:46Lamar Jackson's a starting quarterback.
04:48So you can't take that as a slight.
04:50Now you're going to find out.
04:52And I'm going to find out too, because maybe I was wrong about it.
04:54We're now going to find out what is an objective, successful, offensive-minded coach legitimately
05:02think about Shadur Sanders as an NFL quarterback.
