00:00Road users are being urged to plan ahead as essential summer highway improvements take place at Dawson's Corner and on
00:06the Standingly Bypass.
00:08Over four weeks from Monday the 27th of July to Tuesday the 26th of August, road repairs and resurfacing will
00:15be carried out on the Standingly Bypass as part of the £44 million Dawson's Corner and Bypass scheme.
00:22Traffic management including a contraflow system will be introduced on the Bypass. This will allow work to be completed safely
00:29while keeping traffic moving in both directions.
00:32The works have been scheduled during the school summer holidays when traffic levels are typically lower, helping to reduce disruption
00:39wherever possible.
00:40Delays are still expected, particularly at peak times. The traffic management will be in place 24-7, including a 30mph
00:48speed limit.
00:49There will be partial closures during set-up and switch-over periods with signed local diversions.
00:55Full overnight closures on Standingly Bypass near Swinnow Lane will be in place for resurfacing on Monday the 24th and
01:02Tuesday the 25th of August between 8pm and 5am.
01:07The work builds on repairs already carried out over the past four summers, including work to over 140 carriageway repairs
01:14along the Bypass as part of the Council's annual maintenance programme.
01:17The works are aiming to reduce congestion and delays, improve journey time for buses, provide safer crossing facilities for pedestrians
01:25and cyclists, and support economic growth across West Yorkshire.
