00:14of the roster by being completely original creations.

00:36Castlevania Judgment is a bit of an anomaly within the hallowed gothic series.
00:45Not only is it a fighting game, it was exclusive to the Wii.
00:48Among the famous faces was new character Aeon, a member of a group who watches over the flow of time.
00:54Right on time. However, only one may earn the right to face the final enemy.
01:00Aeon is vital to the plot as he brings together multiple heroes across the franchise's history in order to find
01:05one worthy of stopping the Time Reaper.
01:08His purpose in the story extended to his moveset with abilities that manipulate time and wielding a clock themed sword.
01:14He may only be a footnote in Castlevania's history, but it was interesting to see an original character serve as
01:20the crux of the narrative.
01:22Right on time. This moment was preordained.
01:26Asuka. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Tournament Fighters.
01:32This licensed fighter launched on three different platforms, but only on the Super Nintendo could you play as Asuka, an
01:39original character.
01:40As a female ninja warrior, she fights in the tournament not as part of some villainous plot, but to prove
01:46herself worthy of opening her own dojo.
01:48She's a fast, agile fighter whose moveset leans into acrobatic kicks and swift strikes, a playstyle that stands out from
01:56the heavier hitters.
02:04She may not get much characterization since the game is from 1993, but her design and attacks do fit incredibly
02:11well into the TMNT world.
02:30The game may have crashed and burned due to some questionable decisions from the ones in charge, but hey, Multiverses
02:37still had an original character in the form of Rain Dog, a cute green pup with antlers.
02:42Was he anyone's favorite choice? Probably not.
02:45But with characters spanning decades of history, from Bugs Bunny to Arya Stark to Superman, it would be hard for
02:51any original character to stand out.
03:00Still, he was a unique inclusion and was actually well suited as a support character in 2v2 matches.
03:06Who knows if we'll ever see Rain Dog again, especially since the game was delisted and had its servers shut
03:12down, but it was still interesting to see the devs try with new lore in a roster full of titans.

03:23Arden Lin – Star Wars Masters of Terras Kasai
03:28Most players who weren't around to try this Star Wars fighting game
03:32on the OG Playstation are probably still aware of its horrendous reputation.
03:36People didn't like it then, and they'd probably hate it now.
03:39However, its original character, Arden Lin, still deserves a mention.
03:43An ancient warrior awoken after thousands of years have passed, that's already an interesting
03:48struggle for a character to have.
03:55It also gives her an intrinsic connection to some fascinating lore in the Star Wars
04:00universe, reflecting a level of world building that the game arguably didn't deserve.
04:04She would go on to be acknowledged in broader material.
04:07Maybe if she had debuted in a better game, we could have seen more of her.
04:15Luna Snow, Marvel Future Fight
04:25Created by Netmarble for the mobile game, Marvel Future Fight, Luna Snow is a South Korean pop
04:31star with cryokinetic powers.
04:32Although not a traditional fighting game, more of a beat-em-up with some RPG elements,
04:38Luna's popularity skyrocketed after her debut, so much so that we felt we couldn't leave
04:42her off.
04:43Marvel fully embraced her, bringing her into the mainline comics as well as other games,
04:47such as another mobile fighter, Marvel Contest of Champions, and the hero shooter, Marvel Rivals.
05:01It's easy to see why so many have gravitated towards her.
05:04She threads the needle between pop idol and superhero, an angle that, while used in the
05:08past for other characters, hasn't worked quite as well as it has here.
05:25Another poorly received licensed fighter, Godzilla Unleashed featured a ton of kaiju across the
05:31film franchise's legacy, but it also saw the debut of two original monsters in Obsidious
05:37and Crystallac.
05:38Where Obsidious is a lava-encrusted behemoth, looking like it crawled straight out of a volcano,
05:43Crystallac is a crystal-spined predator with a uniquely bright color scheme.
05:56Despite the game's negative reception, both of these monsters look like they could have
06:00already appeared in one of Toho's many movies.
06:03So, it's not surprising that fans of the game, few though they may be, have wanted
06:07to see them return in some capacity.
06:18Elemental Invincible Versus
06:20So you act cocky to cover up your deep insecurities, right?
06:24The world of Invincible obviously has a lot of powerful characters, seemingly tailor-made
06:29for a fighting game. And while Invincible Versus went a little too heavy on the amount of Viltrumites
06:34packed in there, it did have some more varied characters, such as Elemental. Designed by the
06:40comic and show's creator, Robert Kirkman, Ella is able to command the four elements,
06:44weaving them together for a variety of deadly combos. Yet, like Invincible himself,
06:49she chooses to use her incredible might to do good.
06:59Although she arrived too late to be brought into the comics, the mainline series, which ended in 2018,
07:04she's still a welcome addition to the universe.

07:14Labris, Persona 4, Arena
07:24When fighting game Darling Arc System Works teamed up with Atlas to bring Persona 4 into the fighting
07:29game space, they had access to an entire beloved cast ready to go. Yet, much like Aeon and Castlevania
07:36Judgment, the narrative hinges on an entirely new character, Labris. A battle android with an axe the
07:42size of a small car, she can absolutely wreck opponents when in the right hands.
07:56But her arc is also the heart of the plotline, dealing with themes of identity and societal
08:02discouragement, which are already baked into Persona's DNA. She's exceptionally fun to play as,
08:07on top of being a strong character in general, and is one of the reasons this fighter is so memorable.
08:18Amingo, Ruby Heart, and Sansan. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 New Age of Heroes.
08:35Marvel vs. Capcom 2 gave players a truly massive lineup of characters to choose from,
08:40across the long legacy of both companies. But Capcom also designed a handful of new characters,
08:46which felt like they had existed for decades. While Sansan is in a bit of a gray area, being the
08:52descendant of the protagonist in the 1984 platformer of the same name, this was still her debut.
09:02The humanoid cactus, Amingo, and the sky pirate, Ruby Heart, on the other hand,
09:07are brand spankin' new. But all three of them are wholly unique, extremely viable choices.
09:12It's honestly a shame none of them have made playable appearances ever again,
09:16in a future Marvel vs. Capcom, or otherwise.

10:04Even in a game full of some of the most powerful characters to ever grace anime,
10:08Android 21 is an awesome fighter. Designed by creator Akira Toriyama himself, she naturally feels
10:15right at home. She isn't just someone created to give players something new to try. Her own story,
10:21as a bio-android created from the cells of Majin Buu, makes her a terrifying force to face and wield.
10:36She adds a new layer to one of the franchise's most popular storylines, feeling like she should
10:41have been there all along. And much like everyone else in the game, she controls like a dream. Fans
10:47took to her immediately, making her one of the most popular original characters in any licensed game.
