00:00Jeff means I'm my son. You should not.
00:02Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we are taking a look at the most unfairly broken playable characters in fighting game
00:09history.
00:19But before we dive in, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring the
00:24bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:37In Marvel vs. Capcom 2, there are four characters widely considered by competitive players as God-tier.
00:43Cable, Magneto, Storm, and Sentinel.
00:47And of the group, we're giving the spot to Sentinel due to its ability to hit like a truck and
00:51withstand one as well.
00:52Sentinel moves quicker than you might think of a gigantic robot.
00:56Several of its attacks are unblockable, which is naturally hard to tell in the moment,
01:00and its specials take up most of the screen's space, making them harder to deal with than most others.
01:05We suppose Sentinel's power should match its intimidating stature,
01:09but in the right hands, this level of offense and defense can be overwhelming.
01:13Kratos, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.
01:18Prepare to die!
01:20Extremely powerful and nigh unkillable in his own series, Kratos alone made this game unbalanced.
01:26His speed made him tricky to nail down, he could fill his power meter really quickly,
01:31and most importantly, had an auto-aim grab into a shoulder charge.
01:35Although a well-timed block could leave him open, a good Kratos player would know that, and just place it
01:41within a combo.
01:42Needless to say, he was incredibly user-friendly, and if you played online, you ran into him a lot.
01:48Developer Superbot Entertainment did try to nerf him, giving his auto-aim grab slightly less range,
01:54but it didn't make much of a difference, and he could still build up his super meter ungodly quickly.
02:08Omega Rugal, The King of Fighters 98
02:17Unsurprisingly, when a former final boss becomes a playable character, they tend to be pretty broken, even if their power
02:24is scaled back.
02:25The big bad of the 1994 original, Rugal Bernstein, was first made playable in The King of Fighters 98.
02:31He received some significant cuts to how unfair he was.
02:35However, in the console versions, there was a very simple code that unlocked his stronger form, Omega Rugal.
02:41And holy hell!
02:43While not as unforgiving as he is in his boss form, his power levels are still insane.
02:48It makes every one of his attacks that much more terrifying, especially his signature, Genocide Cutter.
03:01Leroy Smith, Tekken 7
03:03Added through DLC in 2019, it's safe to say the devs went a little overboard with Leroy.
03:09He came with extremely easy combos to pull off, given they only took minor button inputs.
03:14He had a fast recovery time, and except for projectiles or throws, he could parry just about anything.
03:20All of this made him another character that was very user-friendly, which means you either partook in easily beating
03:26others to a pulp, or you struggled to fend off the many Leroys online.
03:30Thankfully, Bandai Namco did eventually release patches solely intended for nerfing him, but it was bad for a bit there.
03:37You lose!
03:42Come on, sugar!
03:44Pet Shop.
03:45JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Heritage for the Future.
03:51The second entry in our Capcom trilogy goes to this flying menace, who, unsurprisingly, is banned in tournaments.
03:58One of several new characters added in an updated version of the game, Pet Shop instantly broke it.
04:04Given his speed, his small hitbox, and his ability to fly, he's naturally a hard character to land a hit
04:10on.
04:10More problematic is, once again, an ease to rack up combos and some unblockable moves.
04:16The worst of them is an attack that summons giant icicles from above while Pet Shop can hit low at
04:22the same moment.
04:23And you can't block both of them.
04:25Eidol.
04:26Killer Instinct.
04:34We've got a few more playable bosses to go, and the two-headed demonic titan Eidol definitely deserves to be
04:41included.
04:41It was a pain to face him at the end of an arcade run, and downright unfair when the player
04:46opposite you knew the code to play as him,
04:49which was also included in the console version.
04:51He makes great use of those heavy hooves and that giant club, plus can fire a deadly triple fireball.
04:57Once again, the playable boss is powered down.
05:00He doesn't have the ability to heal, though that's been replaced by the ability to power up special moves.
05:06So, he's still a major chore to deal with.
05:09Akuma.
05:10Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo.
05:20Akuma's debut is regarded as one of the hardest secret bosses in fighting game history.
05:24So, seeing as how you can play as him in the same game through a cheat code, he naturally feels
05:30pretty overpowered.
05:31Of course, a little less so than as a boss.
05:33He has one Air Hadouken instead of two, for example.
05:36But that doesn't matter much when he's still faster and stronger than everyone else.
05:41His super move deals extreme damage, and his phase ability, letting him dodge attacks or pop up right behind you,
05:47can be maddening.
05:49And this was only the start of playable Akuma surpassing the power levels of the rest of the roster.
06:01Ivan Ooze.
06:02Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Fighting Edition.
06:15Our final playable boss is a bit of a deep cut, but is arguably the most overpowered.
06:21We've talked about playable bosses whose power was scaled back, but they didn't do that with Ivan Ooze.
06:26Everything the boss can do, the player can do.
06:29He can block your projectiles while having his own that can home in on you.
06:33He can break out of combos, and, in case you haven't noticed, he can fly.
06:37Unless your opponent makes the mistake of flying too low, Ivan can keep as much distance as he wants between
06:42you while deleting your health bar in a matter of seconds.
06:51Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
06:51Meta Knight.
06:52Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
06:54Ready?
06:55Go!
06:55Go!
07:00Since Super Smash Bros. was never intended to be competitive, it's had a few balancing issues over the years.
07:06Shout out to Bayonetta during the Wii U and 3DS era, who got plenty of accusations of being broken.
07:12But the most memorable moment of a character being profoundly unbalanced is Meta Knight in Brawl.
07:18His speed and mobility were on an unholy level, able to pepper anyone with damage and raise those percentages alarmingly
07:25quickly.
07:26He could teleport, either to close in or avoid an attack, and all this made it so he could easily
07:31edgeguard any unlucky soul trying to make it back from death.
07:35It also made it so he was banned across tournaments.
07:46If you love games, be sure to check out WatchMojo's new game Terrible Influence.

08:11Soul Calibur 4
08:13Learn the way of the fort.
08:162008 really was the year of short little bastards hopping around the arena as we tried desperately to hit them.
08:22Although he could be purchased as DLC, Yoda came with the Xbox 360 version of Soul Calibur 4 while PS3
08:28players got Darth Vader.
08:30And Yoda was an absolute nightmare to contend with.
08:33He was clearly designed with a height advantage in mind.
08:37You had to work extra hard prioritizing low attacks in order to hit him.
08:41Meanwhile, he could easily Jedi flip all over the place slicing you to pieces with grace.
08:46On the other hand, playing as him made most encounters a breeze.
08:50You win.
08:51Clear your mind.
08:52Of question.
