00:08Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're taking a look at 10 fighting games that could stand to receive a remake.
00:25Before we begin we publish new videos all week long, so be sure to subscribe to MojoPlays and ring the

00:34Mortal Kombat Deception
00:43The Mortal Kombat games from the early to mid-2000s could probably benefit most from simply being hoarded.
00:49However, there is an argument to be made in remaking Deception, for this was the game with the best iteration
00:55of Conquest mode.
00:57I will win the Mortal Kombat tournament and free earth realm from your tyranny.
01:02Is that so? Then it seems I will need a stronger opponent to defeat the Great Cool Malone.
01:08Not only could NetherRealm Studios fully realize the many realms in greater visual detail, they could also refine controls a
01:15bit better and maybe even rewrite the dialogue to be less stilted and awkward.
01:20Then again, MK1 was a complete train wreck in writing mid-way through, so perhaps that's a job for another
01:27team.
01:27Regardless, a remake of Deception's Conquest mode alone would be enough to restore faith in fans.
01:43Dead or Alive, Dimensions
01:52There is a possibility that Koei Tecmo could simply try to get someone, if not themselves, to port dimensions to
01:58modern hardware.
01:59The game still looks incredible despite its age, and it plays like a dream too.
02:04The only reason we're saying it should be remade is because of how Dead or Alive has evolved in visuals
02:09since 2011.
02:17Say what you will about the microtransactions or meter-based mechanics, but Dead or Alive 6 looks absolutely stunning, and
02:24the teaser for Dead or Alive 7 implies yet another massive upgrade in visuals is on the horizon.
02:30Plus, maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea bringing newcomers up to speed on the story, with Dimensions being the
02:36complete summary.
02:37Not that many of us are playing these games without the story, but, still.
02:41Winter feels great!
02:44Mace the Dark Age
02:54Admittedly, this is a pretty bizarre pick for us, as Mace the Dark Age is one of those N64 gems
03:00that's long been forgotten by the gaming community.
03:02Developed and published by Atari, Mace the Dark Age is probably one of the most visually unique fighting games that
03:09tried competing with gritty titles like Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct.
03:19The problem is that the controls are a bit clunky, which turned off folks who even bothered giving it the
03:25time of day.
03:26Today, fighting games are bigger and more diverse than ever before, and Atari is in a far better position financially
03:33than they've been in the past couple decades.
03:35So, revisiting Mace may not be a bad idea, assuming they can find the right indie partners to make it.
03:48Duel Blades
03:55For those unfamiliar, Duel Blades was a fighting game developed by one man in Turkey that was released for the
04:02Game Boy Advance.
04:03Despite the basic controls and limited animations, the game was still insanely fun to play, and incredibly impressive given the
04:11small team between both developer and publisher.
04:22Duel Blades
04:22So imagine how great it looked with a remake with refined controls.
04:26There's just one major issue.
04:28Publisher Metro 3D went defunct way, way back in 2004.
04:32So, as to who owns the rights to Duel Blades is anybody's guess.
04:37Duel Blades
04:44Guilty Gear
04:53The year 2028 will mark the 30th anniversary of Guilty Gear, and thanks to the booming popularity of Guilty Gear
05:00Strive, perhaps then will be the perfect opportunity to remake the original game.
05:13Sure, you can buy and play the game that started it all on modern hardware, but how badly do we
05:18want to keep subjecting ourselves to oppressive AI and insta-kill moves that could be utilized at the very start
05:25of the match?
05:25Well, not at all.
05:27Just retell the story, give us new visuals, and we'll be happy.
05:32And again, take out those insta-kill moves.
05:34Slutter nonsense.
05:35Slutter nonsense.
05:46Castlevania Judgment
05:48Are you a vampire hunter?
05:50I am.
05:52If you're here, you must be one as well.
05:55Uh-huh.
05:57They're huge.
05:59Here's the thing about Castlevania Judgment.
06:01Had it not been given the Castlevania name and was instead an original game with original characters and everything, this
06:07could have been a sleeper hit.
06:09But the affiliation, along with the drastic redesigns of our favorite characters, is why few Castlevania fans have bothered giving
06:16Judgment any attention.
06:17And you don't believe in me yet. Fine, I'll take you on.
06:23That is my desire.
06:25But, remake it today, and you do it with the correct character designs. Tighten up the controls, balance the matchups
06:32a bit better, and Judgment could possibly garner more fans.
06:36Like we said, the gameplay is pretty solid, it's just those character designs that are super off-putting.
06:43You cannot defy Lord Dracula and expect to live.
06:46Tekken 4
06:56Now, Bandai Namco has no reason to ever remake any of the Tekken games whatsoever.
07:01Not when fighting games make their revenue off of sequels, DLC characters, and costumes.
07:07But theoretically, if any Tekken game was to get a remake, Tekken 4 would be in desperate need of one.
07:18One, two, three, two, one!
07:23Between the visuals, controls, and bizarre implementation of inclined environments, Tekken 4 almost single-handedly killed the franchise, according to
07:32former series producer Katsuhiro Arada.
07:34But there's a part of us that would like to see Tekken Project give it another go, especially with the
07:40stunning visual fidelity and technical performance that we've seen in Tekken 8.
07:44If you were, if you were, you would not be, you would not be.
07:49You would not have.
07:50You would not have to be, you would have done it.
07:54Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Tournament Fighters
08:05Thanks to the Cowabunga collection, you can go back and play every version of TMNT Tournament
08:11Fighters whenever you desire to do so. Even so, the advancements we've seen in technology
08:16and how fighting games can use that technology has us wondering what a remake of Tournament
08:22Fighters could look like. More characters? Expanded movesets? Perhaps unique tag mechanics?
08:35Not that the original games ever had that, but we're spitballing here. No matter what,
08:39a remake of this classic would be very compelling.
08:51Super Smash Bros. Brawl
09:05The idea of remaking a Smash Bros. game is honestly pretty far-fetched. After all,
09:11Ultimate is essentially a remake, remaster, re-smashing of basically every game in the franchise. But the
09:18reason we'd want a remake of Brawl specifically is because of that incredible Subspace Emissary
09:24campaign.
09:35World of Light was… it was okay, but it does not hold a candle to Subspace Emissary. Not in scope,
09:42not in story, and certainly not in gameplay. A remake of this mode alone would mean no floaty
09:48controls, no tripping, and an almost complete removal of load screens. Make it happen, Sakurai!
10:02and lastly, Bloody Roar.
10:12Of every fighting game we could ask a remake for, Bloody Roar is perhaps the one that needs
10:17it most. Bloody Roar hasn't been around since 2003 with its fourth mainline game, and the games
10:24haven't exactly aged super well.
10:26Wow! I didn't think anything like this even existed! So, this will stop the violence and the earthquakes, right?
10:36The controls are about as stiff as how you would expect a late 90s, early 2000s fighting game series to
10:41be.
10:42The AI is super oppressive to an absurd degree, and the balancing in matchups isn't exactly refined.
10:49At this point, Konami would probably be better off not just remaking the original game, but making it a proper
10:57reboot as well.
10:58Remake the first game, then go off in whatever direction you want to go for a sequel.
11:02It's probably the best path forward in resurrecting Bloody Roar.
11:15What's a fighting game that you think needs a remake? Let us know down in the comments, and don't forget
11:20to subscribe to Mojo Plays.
11:23Thanks, everyone.
11:23It's been great.
11:23It's been great, so we've got to get it a light bulb.
11:23To be honest, I was very specific.
11:23Bye.
11:24That's one of the best things, though.
11:24Bye, bye.
