00:33Now, part of the reason they're not serious is something I just mentioned, Wardy.

00:42You said you knew the game.
00:44You knew it was a wrap when you heard he was starting on Sunday.

00:51That's how you know it's not a serious baseball team.
00:53Because as soon as you heard someone was starting, Wardy said, ah, I'm not going to let this ruin my

00:59I can't do that.
01:01But it's not even like a dramatic reaction to have, Dex.
01:03That's the worst part.
01:05That further proves.
01:06It's a fair reaction.
01:07Because, you know, there are a lot of fan reactions when you see, like, actually a good player go up
01:12to the plate or they're on the mound.
01:13And you just have your Frank the tanks of the world that are just going to rag on him no
01:17matter what.
01:17You know, like, regardless of him maybe being the best thing since Sion, it doesn't matter.
01:21Fans are going to have a certain opinion.
01:23There's going to be the internal pessimist.
01:24But statistically, for the past calendar year, David Peterson has been the worst starter in Major League Baseball.
01:33I don't know why this is even up for debate or for continued conversation that we're allowing this man to
01:39be put in positions to not have success the way that the Mets are continuing to do.
01:44They will justify it by saying that, oh, it's because how depleted our rotation is right now.
01:49Oh, we need everyone to step up.
01:51I hear you and I get that.
01:52But, my God, it's been a counter year of literally the exact same result of how he's going to look
01:57as a starter.
01:58He's always looked better as a multi-annual reliever throughout this stretch.
02:02Why are you trying to push this, let alone in a band box in Philly, against your rivals who know
02:07a thing or two about hitting the baseball ballpark?
02:10It's so frustrating to talk about because it makes us look like we're the crazy ones.
02:16This guy was nails for us for a calendar year.
02:18When he returned from hip surgery for June 2024 to June 2025, there was no one better in this Mets
02:24rotation.
02:24There was no one that was going deeper.
02:26There was no one that was bringing more sustainability to said rotation.
02:29And, yes, I'm sure the team, to a degree, is still clinging on to that.
02:33And it is going to be, like in many other cases for the New York Mets, when they cling on
02:38to past success versus present to their detriment.
02:41And it's very frustrating.
02:42It's like a toxic relationship.
02:44It's like you've been toxic with someone for the past little calendar year, year and a half.
02:48Nothing's been going right.
02:50But, oh, you're still clinging on to those great first memories that you had the first couple months or something
02:54when you're in the honeymoon stage.
02:55It's like, no, this is what it is.
02:58Stop trying to think that it's going to be different.
03:00No, you've got to move forward.
03:01Go your separate path.
03:03So for the New York Mets, that separate path will be either A, trading or B, DFA-ing by the
03:08time that we're talking a calendar month from now, if not sooner.
