00:00Breaking news, Mets fans.
00:01The Amazons have officially begun what may very well be a selling spree for them
00:06as they inch closer to the traded line.
00:08Veteran Southpaw and David Peterson is no longer in Flushing, Queens.
00:12Peterson, as we know, got rocked not all that long ago that we saw
00:15against the Philadelphia Phillies in that Sunday night matchup.
00:18As the Mets drop two out of three there in Philadelphia,
00:21Peterson currently with a 6.09 ERA on the season is now no longer in Queens,
00:27at least as a New York Met, as he'll be changing dugouts in locker rooms
00:30for the final game in the series finale matchup between the Cubs and the Mets
00:34this Thursday.
00:35As the Mets have traded Peterson away, they receive an interesting prospect,
00:40that being Cole Mathis, the young 22-year-old infield prospect
00:44that can play both first base and DH.
00:46So far this year in both low A and high A, he's looked quite good with 10 home runs,
00:50averaging an RBI per game, 39 RBIs in 39 games at this point.
00:54So the Mets are getting a nice high upside, younger, obviously lower level
00:59first base slash DH prospect.
01:01For the Mets, they cut dead weight here for David Peterson,
01:03and as has been reported by multiple people here to this point,
01:06it does not look like it's in great certainty by the Mets trading Peterson
01:10that this will automatically start a complete fire sale where everyone,
01:13their mother that's on a short-term contract or really is more dead weight
01:16than a positive for this Mets team will find themselves here.
01:19The Mets are going to wait things out a little bit, but it goes without saying,
01:22as we inch closer to the trade deadline, do not be surprised when trades
01:25inevitably continue to happen, as David Stearns is going to be working
01:28those phones plenty for the roster that he sadly did not construct properly.
