00:00Hey guys, obviously the northern part of Hokkaido is really sparsely populated and very rural
00:09and as we travel around we often pass through these little towns that are obviously little
00:16hubs of activity for the local areas so where the local farming people would come to do their
00:23shopping and go to school and all those sorts of things but they're really really quaint they're
00:30really really nice sort of little towns that you don't sort of experience so much in other parts
00:37of Japan because you don't sort of get the isolated rural type atmosphere quite so much usually
00:46so these are great no buildings no taller than three stories tall really quiet streets
00:54lots of shops that look like they've been there forever just really good something really
01:00different the sort of thing that we don't experience so much usually in the other parts of Japan when
01:04you do have towns usually they're pretty big and pretty full-on with all the McDonald's and big
01:10department stores and things but these little towns is really common barber shop there on the left
01:22really cool so this was an attempt to try and show you what it's like because we passed through
01:29dozens of these little towns just like this and we kept commenting on on how nice they were and and
01:37different from what we're used to as we we traveled around other parts of Japan
01:43so this is a bit of an attempt to try and show you what it was like
01:53so still in northern Hokkaido of course so of course in winter it would be a totally different
01:59experience wouldn't it be a few meters of snow all over the place now of course being rural areas and
02:04relying on agriculture 100 percent didn't seem to matter how small these towns were they all had tractor
02:10dealers even tied the smallest little town with just a few shops would still have a tractor dealer
02:18because obviously you know huge agricultural area as we've showed you huge open spaces and
02:25much bigger equipment than we see in other parts of Japan because they're using to cover such big areas
