00:00Hey guys, so today we're in the eastern part of Hokkaido in the Akan Mashu National Park and this is
00:08Lake Kusharo and we're at Tsunayu Onsen.
00:13So it's a beautiful lake, it's a caldera lake so created by volcanic eruption and might be the fifth biggest
00:23lake in Japan, it's a pretty big one surface area.
00:28It's a beautiful place as you can see and they happen to have these paddle boats which look like they
00:41need to be taken out on the lake don't they?
00:43So we'll go and do a little bit of paddling out in the lake, have a look at the water.
00:46This lake is, as well as being very beautiful, is famous for its very clear water.
00:51So most of Hokkaido, most of the places that we've seen in Hokkaido the water is really clear.
00:55But this lake is exceptionally clear.
00:59It was actually very difficult to tell how deep it was because we could see the bottom pretty much everywhere
01:05we went.
01:07Beautiful isn't it?
01:10So very very pleasant little place to stop in our travels, to stop and relax and put up our feet
01:18after all that hard paddling and just float out in the water for a while.
01:25So this place was supreme.
01:27If you find yourself travelling Hokkaido, go to their little shop and rent yourself a couple of chairs and a
01:32shovel and get an unskilled hole digger.
01:36Come down here in the sand and dig a hole because under that sand is a hot spring, is an
01:44onsen.
01:45So if you dig a hole in the sand, up will come hot water, which is pretty amazing considering that
01:51the lake is really cold.
01:54So we've got very cold water over there and warm water here that you can sit and put your feet
01:59in and relax.
02:01So there's all sorts of little onsens around this area too where you can go and sit in an onsen
02:05in your swimmers.
02:06Or you can just relax on the beach, put your feet in the warm water.
02:12Highly recommended, it was awesome.
02:14And of course that little shop, like every shop in Hokkaido, that little shop over there sells excellent Hokkaido ice
02:20cream with Hokkaido milk.
02:22So, beautiful place.
