00:00Hey guys, another quick video for our Modern Japanese Architecture Playlist.
00:04Some of you guys might remember these human storage boxes
00:08that they built next door to the old Japanese farmhouse.
00:11So they were completed exactly four years ago.
00:14So September 2022, they were completed.
00:18So exactly four years later, so the builders come back
00:22and wrap the entire house in scaffolding
00:27and then they will go around and remove all the silicon
00:31that is between the panels
00:34because the outside walls are all covered with panels
00:37and between them is silicon.
00:39So they pull out all the silicon that's between the panels.
00:42They get up on the roof and do the same thing
00:44and then replace all that silicon with new silicon
00:47and then coat the whole thing
00:49with a really strong smelling coating of something
00:54sort of like a clear lacquer or something
00:56but really strong smell, really strong chemical smell
01:00and they'll do that every four years.
01:03That's the standard for Modern Japanese Buildings.
01:08So, seems like a lot of wasted time and energy.
01:12The owners of the place pay for that
01:14either directly or indirectly.
01:16So, they either pay a yearly fee
01:18or they've paid a huge amount up front
01:21that will cover it so they have to pay for it.
