00:00So I'm Nathalie and I'm working in beauty tech and today I will bring you to a topic that is
00:06very dear to our hearts, that is beauty conversation.
00:09But not any conversation, beauty conversation in the age of AI.
00:16As you may know, conversation in beauty has been always deeply human, between a mother and a daughter, a dermatologist
00:24and their patient,
00:25a hairdresser in their salon, or simply from France to France.
00:30In that game, it's easy, there is trust. This is evident.
00:36But in the game of AI, it has been redistributed and very different, fragmented, sometimes not always with a level
00:44of trust, sometimes average.
00:46And we have a duty at L'Oréal, really to bring precision, true understanding of our consumer and making sure
00:53we bring the best information,
00:56the most confidence to them at every single touch point, wherever they are.
01:01And this is the story that I will tell you in a few minutes.
01:05So, how do we do that?
01:07We do that basically with what we are calling a knowledge graph, something that is proprietary to L'Oréal,
01:13where we put all our data and data are connecting between each other.
01:17This is a very different way to address our data, and this is how we can perform much more precise
01:23conversation.
01:25But to explain that in better words, I want to give you some few images.
01:30Beauty, a notion driving inspirations, questions, and discussions that reflects humans' infinite diversity
01:39and their individual aspirations, generating billions of beauty conversations.
01:45Generative AI changed everything.
01:47We can ask anything, anywhere, at any time.
01:51But for beauty, generic answers are not enough.
01:54This is why we have built L'Oréal beauty knowledge graphs, unique beauty brains to answer every beauty questions with
02:03absolute precision and trust.
02:06It is more than AI.
02:08L'Oréal knowledge is made of more than 115 years of structured science of our 4,000 experts working in
02:15research and innovation,
02:17more than 1,400 scientific publications,
02:20a skin data set of over 37,000 pictures with 150,000 DERMS annotations, and so much more.
02:29More than billions of beauty consumers across the globe demand true, personalized, trustworthy, and expert answer to their questions.
02:46Beauty knowledge graphs instantly connect dots to provide the best answer.
02:52The AI gets beauty intelligence, deduces with context, intent, and relation between data points.
03:00This intelligence is here to be used exactly where our consumers already are.
03:06Helping our messaging platforms, our websites, our conversational care, powered by Gen.A.I. and humans.
03:14The right answer, at the right time, on the right channel.
03:20Welcome to the new beauty conversation reinvented.
03:24L'Oréal creates the beauty that moves the world.
03:33So, and one of the key elements that we are bringing today at VivaTech is that we reveal our partnership
03:40and collaboration with OpenAI,
03:42and for the first time, we will bring in this beauty conversation our virtual try-on.
03:48Just imagine, 900 millions of conversations every week on OpenAI, on ChatGPT, and 5% of them are about beauty.
03:57And this is where L'Oréal is playing a key role.
04:01So, we are bringing, for the first time, when you will ask just a few questions about beauty and testing
04:06some products,
04:07you can directly, in ChatGPT, try the virtual makeup directly on you,
04:13and then purchasing if you are convinced by the demonstration.
04:16So, this is one of the touch points.
04:19You can join us at our booth and discover much more touch points that we are where we are reinventing
04:24the beauty conversation, thanks to the AI.
04:27And what we truly believe at L'Oréal is that beauty conversation will remain deeply human,
04:33with both our scientists, makeup artists, dermatologists,
04:36because this is how we will perform the best beauty conversation, just elevated with AI.
04:43And now, I'm leaving the floor to Thomas for more creativity.
04:58Hello, and hi, everyone.
05:00I'm Thomas Alves Machado, and I'm the director of the Create-Tech program at L'Oréal.
05:06So, this year, we take you on the beauty odyssey, a journey that reinvents how we connect with our consumers.
05:13And at the heart of this transformation, there's the Create-Tech program,
05:16which is the L'Oréal Genial Beauty Content Lab,
05:19where we have a simple mission, which is to augment the creativity of L'Oréalians.
05:28We totally reinvent the content production workflow, integrating two things.
05:33The first one is the math of the cutting-edge technology,
05:37and the second one is the magic of the human strong storytelling fueled by our brown DNA.
05:43So, let's talk about the math first.
05:46So, we have just built another app.
05:49We've built kind of ecosystem integrating big tech and startups.
05:54So, big tech, you know them.
05:56We work with NVIDIA, Google with their model, like Gemini, you know, maybe you've heard of OMI.
06:04We work also with Adobe, with Firefly Services, and ByDance,
06:08and now starting also a partnership with OpenAI.
06:12And for the startups, you can see a great example, one of the best ones with OMI,
06:17who integrates 3D mixed with GenAI.
06:22So, we completely reframe the content production workflow for the L'Oréalians.
06:28Here, you see in action the platform and how it works.
06:31Today, my colleagues from marketing teams or communication teams in the bronze
06:35can just prompt to generate an image in CreateTech Safe Space.
06:40They can, you know, depending on their ideas, start to produce something that will feed their needs
06:46or just, you know, use for their internal presentation.
06:50So, then after, like what you see in this example, leveraging OMI, as I said,
06:56they can just easily take and reintegrate all the product they need.
07:013D digital twin app view with, you know, perfect rendering, lightning,
07:05and most of all, a total control on all the assets you can have of the scenes.
07:10And then after, they can just use it to feed, as an example, the touchpoint like Instagram.
07:16That's interesting because now we totally changed, and these few steps,
07:21my colleagues can now generate content that will engage with their audience.
07:27And it's only one of multiple examples of the use of GenAI at L'Oréal.
07:33Okay, but now, you know, it's great, and with great powers come great responsibilities.
07:39We've seen that generating content this fast is incredible.
07:44But we know that infinite generation has a needed cost,
07:48and this cost is the environmental impact.
07:51And, you know, at L'Oréal, we are an industry leader,
07:54so we refuse just to fall into the trap of compulsive generation.
07:58That's really important for us.
08:00We want responsibility and intentional creation.
08:04So that's why today we are really happy to share with you
08:07that we integrate a new feature within CreateTech.
08:10And this feature is not just about generating assets.
08:12It's about controlling.
08:14We create a built-in CO2 emission calculator available for our colleagues.
08:21So in real time, or creators, they can see the carbon footprint of their compute usage.
08:27For every image or video, we translate it into understandable metrics.
08:34So, as you can see, kilometers driven or even hours of streamings.
08:39So we are empowering our community to monitor their impact consciously.
08:45So then,
08:51Now the magic.
08:53Because, really, ultimately, this technology are just tools.
08:58And as tools, you know, they are as good as people who use them.
09:03So for the 10 years of VivaTech,
09:05we really wanted to allow something special for us
09:07and to put back the human at the center.
09:10That's why, you know, within our CreateTech program,
09:12we bring together a community of AI artists and technologists.
09:17So to truly understand this creative revolution,
09:20we invite you to come, you know,
09:21and to connect into the booth with the CreateTech teams.
09:24We'll show you how creatives and marketers
09:26are actually using those technologies to craft great ads.
09:31In partnership with Google,
09:32we develop on our booth
09:34a demonstration of the true creative power of Gen.AI,
09:38which is not the technology, but the human.
09:40So we collaborate with four AI artists
09:44who totally reinvent four of the campaigns of our brands.
09:49So different brands.
09:50We have L'Oréal Paris,
09:51Kerastase,
09:52Lancôme,
09:53and La Roche-Posay.
09:54We give them a carte blanche to do all these campaigns.
09:58And now,
09:59they are also ready on the booth.
10:01So you can come on the booth,
10:03you can connect and discuss with them,
10:05and experience a crafting table for you
10:08to build your own beauty odyssey.
10:10Thank you all.
10:24Hello, everybody.
10:26How are you doing?
10:28My name is JP,
10:29and I'm the Global Marketing Director
10:31for Lancôme Beauty Tech,
10:32and it's a pleasure to be here with you today
10:34in the AC,
10:36in the fresh air of Uva Tech.
10:37So we will talk about longevity.
10:40Who here has heard about longevity before?
10:43Raise your hands.
10:45Ah,
10:45a lot of you have heard about it.
10:47And what's truly amazing
10:48is that in the past century,
10:50the humanity have gained 30 years
10:52in average lifespan.
10:54Yes,
10:54we're living 30 years more
10:56than our ancestors.
10:58And that's truly amazing.
11:00And today,
11:00longevity is more than a concept.
11:03It's something that every generation wants.
11:06From Gen Z to boomers,
11:08people want to live longer
11:09and live better.
11:11And at Lancôme,
11:12we believe that longevity
11:13is the future of beauty.
11:15And for that,
11:17we believe in
11:17integrative longevity science.
11:20This is about
11:21diagnostics
11:22to better know your skin,
11:24topical skin care,
11:26and tech devices
11:27you can use at home
11:28to augment your results.
11:30And for that,
11:31we cannot do it alone.
11:33So here at Viva Tech today,
11:34we're very happy
11:35with the very entrance there
11:36to show you innovation
11:38we design
11:38with tech partners
11:39all around the world.
11:41In diagnosis,
11:42we partner with
11:43Nano & Tech in Korea
11:44on topical skin care
11:46with Timeline,
11:47with the MycoPure active,
11:49and today,
11:51we're very happy
11:51to introduce you
11:52our first LED mask
11:53with iSmart developments
11:55to target longevity signs
11:57in a different way.
11:58So let me take you
11:59through each of them.
12:01The journey starts
12:02with Cell Bioprint.
12:03Cell Bioprint,
12:04you can see it on the screen,
12:06is our first longevity analysis
12:08to understand
12:09your biological age
12:11of your skin.
12:12Because did you know
12:13you have two kinds of ages?
12:15There's the chronological age
12:16you have linked
12:17to the year you were born in,
12:19and the biological age
12:22of your skin.
12:23This is dependent
12:24on your lifestyle,
12:25your background,
12:26the way you sleep.
12:28And so Cell Bioprint,
12:29for the first time
12:30at Comptors,
12:31gives you
12:33what is your age.
12:34And so here,
12:35you can see an example,
12:36and at the booth,
12:37some of you will be able
12:38to experience it.
12:39So for example,
12:40here we can see
12:41that your biological age
12:43is 46 years old,
12:45and your actual age
12:46is 43,
12:47so we're a bit older.
12:48And this way,
12:49we can give women
12:50and men
12:51a new way
12:51to get insights
12:53onto their skin.
12:55From that,
12:56we analyze biomarkers.
12:58In 15 minutes,
12:59with this little card here,
13:01we analyze five biomarkers.
13:03And so this is helping us
13:06to understand
13:07how your visible signs
13:08will evolve over time.
13:10So for example,
13:11if you have very good biomarkers,
13:13biomarkers,
13:14you'll have stable wrinkles,
13:16stable fairness.
13:18But let's say,
13:18for example,
13:19on pores and texture,
13:20you have biomarkers
13:22that are a bit more weak.
13:24This is something
13:24you'll have to focus on.
13:25So thanks to that,
13:26we can really do
13:27precision recommendation
13:28to our clients.
13:30This is the first step.
13:32And when we have
13:33your longevity profile,
13:34we can recommend
13:35the best routine for you.
13:36And this year,
13:38we're very happy
13:38to introduce you
13:39the Longevity MD line
13:42formulated with
13:43Maltopure with Timeline,
13:45a Swiss biotech company.
13:47This active is breakthrough.
13:49It's the number one
13:50recommended longevity supplement.
13:52And it's available
13:53to test at our counter.
13:56But then there's one more thing.
13:58This year,
13:59we're launching
13:59the LED mask
14:01in collaboration
14:01with iSmart.
14:02And I have it here.
14:04Wow.
14:07So this mask
14:08is powered by
14:10208 LED lights.
14:13And so LED
14:13is a proven technology
14:15to target aging signs.
14:16But what's truly amazing here
14:18is that this mask
14:19is having two
14:22different types
14:23of wavelength.
14:24Infrared light
14:25and red light
14:26to target aging signs,
14:29but also longevity.
14:31We are studying
14:32how our formulas
14:33with this mask
14:34can augment the results
14:36you can have,
14:37not only on wrinkles,
14:38but also on
14:39anti-inflammation,
14:41detoxification,
14:42oxygenation of your skin.
14:44This mask
14:45is really breakthrough
14:46because unlike
14:47traditional technology,
14:48it's ultra lightweight.
14:50Only two millimeters thick.
14:52It's super flexible.
14:53You can travel with it.
14:54And today,
14:55we hear from consumers
14:56that these masks
14:57usually are quite rigid,
14:58heavy, cumbersome.
14:59There's a remote control.
15:00This mask
15:01is hands-free,
15:03super flexible,
15:04and so you can use it
15:05three, five times a week
15:07really easily.
15:08This makes a huge difference
15:10in the results
15:10you can have.
15:11You can come touch it
15:12at our booth
15:13later on today.
15:16So this is it for me,
15:18and I thank you very much
15:19and enjoy Viva Tech.
15:34Hi, everyone.
15:36My name is Caroline,
15:38and I'm working
15:39at the Research and Innovation.
15:43So at L'Oreal,
15:45we have been pioneers
15:46in bioengineering
15:48for over 40 years,
15:49and today,
15:51we are opening
15:52a new space
15:54where the biology
15:55meets the design.
15:58Because skin
15:59is not just
16:00about biology.
16:02Its nature
16:03is deeply architectural.
16:07So let me reveal
16:08how we are recreating
16:10the architecture
16:12of a living skin.
16:15To understand
16:17our breakthrough,
16:18just look at the skin.
16:20This is a complex organ
16:22organized by layer.
16:24On the top,
16:25the epidermis,
16:27your heart
16:28power-out shield
16:30to support it,
16:32the dermis,
16:33relying on
16:34elastin and collagen.
16:36Think of collagen
16:37as the cotton fiber
16:39of a pair of jeans.
16:40It brings skin firmness.
16:43The elastin
16:44is the elastin.
16:46It brings
16:46the skin
16:47its bones.
16:49But
16:50when skin ages,
16:53the entire
16:53scaffold
16:54collapses.
16:55the collagen
16:57fragments
16:57and the elastin
17:00loses its bones.
17:02And in fact,
17:03the skin
17:04functionality,
17:06biological functionality,
17:07is fundamentally
17:09intertwined
17:10with its
17:11matrix
17:12architecture.
17:14So before
17:15revealing how
17:16we are mastering
17:17this architecture,
17:19let me share
17:20about
17:21our purpose
17:22beyond
17:23skin
17:24bioengineering.
17:26The better
17:27you can rebuild
17:28the skin
17:29in the lab,
17:30the better
17:31you can
17:32study it,
17:34you can
17:35deeply
17:35understand.
17:37That means
17:37the better
17:38you can
17:39protect it
17:40and you can
17:41address
17:42its most
17:42challenging
17:44issues.
17:46And actually,
17:48for over
17:4840 years,
17:49we never
17:50stopped.
17:50from the
17:51first
17:52reconstructed
17:53epidermis
17:54then to
17:55a full
17:55skin
17:56model
17:56with
17:57melanocyte
17:58for pigmentation,
17:59then adding
18:00the vascularization
18:02which won
18:03an IFFCC
18:04award,
18:05and
18:06recently,
18:07models that
18:08was able
18:08to fill
18:09with
18:10integration
18:11of neurons
18:12and the
18:13integration
18:14of the
18:15bioprinting
18:15technology
18:16to reach
18:17even more
18:18complex
18:19patterns
18:19like
18:20atopic
18:20dermatitis
18:21or melasma.
18:24And today,
18:25we are
18:26opening a
18:27new frontier
18:28by being
18:29able to
18:30recreate
18:30the
18:31architecture
18:32of the
18:34living
18:34scheme.
18:36We have
18:36identified
18:37a brand
18:39new
18:40printing
18:41technology
18:42called
18:44Mert
18:44Electro
18:45Writing
18:45or
18:46MU.
18:46MU
18:48combines
18:49heat
18:50with
18:51high
18:52voltage
18:53electric
18:54field
18:54for
18:55printing
18:57precision
18:57as fine
18:58as
18:59one
18:59micron.
19:01This
19:01is
19:01100
19:02times
19:02thinner
19:03than
19:03a
19:03hair
19:03fiber.
19:05And
19:05we have
19:05collaborated
19:06with
19:07the
19:07professor
19:07Paul
19:08Dalson,
19:09the
19:09inventor
19:09of
19:10this
19:10technology.
19:11And
19:12it's
19:12where
19:12the
19:13distribution
19:14in
19:14skin
19:14bioengineering
19:15appears.
19:16We are
19:17now
19:17able to
19:18design
19:19at
19:19real
19:20scale
19:20the
19:21natural
19:21collagen
19:22and
19:22elastin.
19:23We are
19:24able to
19:24reproduce
19:25the
19:26matrix
19:27as it
19:28is,
19:28layer
19:29by layer,
19:30fiber
19:30by fiber.
19:32And we
19:33have an
19:33absolute
19:34control
19:34of the
19:35density,
19:36the
19:36orientation,
19:37and the
19:37full
19:37architecture
19:38of the
19:38scheme.
19:39and that
19:40world
19:41first
19:43allowing
19:44us to
19:45be the
19:46pioneer
19:46in the
19:47science
19:47of skin
19:48longevity.
19:50Why?
19:51Because we
19:53are able
19:53to design
19:54all
19:55biological
19:56edges.
19:58And
19:58what does
19:59it unlock
20:00actually?
20:01But we
20:02have a
20:03more
20:03relevant
20:03models.
20:05we can
20:06test our
20:07longevity
20:08candidates
20:09on the
20:10biological
20:11intended
20:11terrain,
20:12the
20:12age
20:13skins,
20:13as it
20:14is.
20:15We have
20:16speed and
20:16precision.
20:17We can
20:18test hundreds
20:19of
20:19longevity
20:20candidates
20:21and identify
20:23the ones
20:23that bring
20:25back
20:25a useful
20:26dermis.
20:28And my
20:29favorite one
20:30is the
20:31cross-disciplinary
20:33new
20:34frontier.
20:35Sorry.
20:36The
20:37Mew
20:37was
20:38invented
20:39for
20:39regenerative
20:40medicine
20:41to recreate
20:42tendons,
20:43nerves,
20:44and L'Oreal
20:44brings this
20:45technology
20:46into skin
20:47biology.
20:48It's the
20:49way we
20:49open a
20:50totally new
20:50frontier
20:51that didn't
20:52exist before.
20:54So I
20:55want to
20:55conclude
20:55saying that
20:56at L'Oreal
20:57we are not
20:58just no
21:00longer
21:00rebuilding
21:01skin.
21:02We are
21:03designing
21:04its
21:05future
21:06thank you
21:07very much.
