00:07Six incredible teenagers were chosen for this program.
00:10They get to create a capsule collection that's actually going to be sold in Ulta Beauty stores
00:15and they'll get $10,000 which they can use towards college.
00:19So the capsule collection will include an eyeshadow palette, lip glosses, a makeup bag,
00:24and highlighters.
00:25The process the girls will go through for this capsule collection include vision and concept
00:30development, product development, packaging development, marketing plan development, in-store
00:35merchandising, and ultimately launch.

01:46How did you get your start?
01:47Well, things were different five years ago, I will say that.
01:49I had just lost my job, baby need milk, I was struggling.
01:54Long story short, luckily enough, a brand reached out to me, Motives Cosmetics, they contacted
01:59me to do a makeup collab with four other amazing influencers that I was lucky to be amongst.
02:05And shortly after that, it was just like Cover Girl was calling and stuff and I was like,
02:09wait a minute, wait a minute.
02:11It's definitely been something that I didn't imagine.
02:14So even if it's just staying encouraged, staying creative, I would love to help you guys in any way
02:21I can, even outside of beauty, because I've been through the struggle.
02:26So I see you guys have a bunch of very beautiful mood boards.
02:30So how do you plan on bringing all of you guys' ideas together?
02:34So a lot of us have similar colors.
02:36We have a lot of common like warm tones, so like yellows and oranges.
02:41But make sure too, when you're thinking of the colors, it's not really about picking what looks
02:44best on you, it's about what looks best on everyone.
02:47Just making it look cohesive, I think, is really important because it's kind of easy
02:52to tell when it was too many heads at the table.
02:54So with that being said, I want you guys to take all these lovely ideas and head to a more cohesive
03:01space so you guys can all get on the same page.

03:14So what are you guys thinking?
03:15Oh, that is so cute.

03:18So what words did you guys put on your mood boards?
03:21Fresh, vibrant, and unique, because we don't want to be like everybody else.
03:26Yeah.
03:27So we wanted to do something like out of the box.
03:29We referenced products that we use personally to come up with stuff that we haven't seen before.
03:34I really like this one.

03:36Okay, so this is a thing.
03:37I love this glitter.

03:40My mood board consists of a lot of different stuff because my mind was everywhere when I made it.
03:44I love soft colors like baby pinks, baby blue, purple, of course, because I feel like I'm very calm.
03:51But then yellow because I'm very bright and I'm not afraid to take risks.
03:55Okay, so I think we like got our mood board pretty good together.
03:58I think it's like pretty cohesive and I like how we use like all a bunch of different colors.
04:01And I think it kind of goes together.
04:02So now we just need to translate that to real life and like makeup and stuff.
04:08I feel like we should like take apart the colors that are up there.
04:10Yeah, the yellow isn't giving me any trust.
04:16It's not working for mine either.
04:18I'm dark skinned, but it's still not barely popping.
04:21Whenever we were swatching eyeshadow colors,
04:24we swatched it on every single one of our skin colors because as black women,
04:29we're so diverse and we come in so many different shades.

04:42It's all based off of our mood board.
04:44So we chose colors over here and we saw that and we chose colors in the palette to represent it.

04:51Okay, so if you were to put this in a palette right now, what colors would you put next to each other?
04:56Okay, so.
04:57Definitely getting that silver.
04:59I would say the red would go over there and to the brown.
05:00The blue by the silver.
05:01Definitely.
05:02Yeah, I mean, you guys are being risque and I, I commend that.
05:07But yeah, you do definitely want to think of the average day consumer and how many different looks
05:12they can create with everything you have.
05:14Because I know when I buy a palette, I look to see, I can do about three or four looks with this.
05:18This is worth my money.
05:19Yeah, a lot of the things you said I hadn't thought about before.
