00:32Welcome back to halftime here at Super Bowl 51 where the Patriots draw the Atlanta Falcons 21-3.
00:38Let me tell you a story.
00:40Hey, let's go, boys. It's going to be a hell of a story.
00:42It's going to be a hell of a story.
00:44Hell yeah.
00:46Julian Edelman knows a good story when he sees one.
00:48He made a story. When I say at halftime, it's going to be a hell of a story.
00:52I love you, bro.
00:54He also knows how to author one.
00:57I kind of always dabbled in children's books.
01:00I always remember reading Shel Silverstein.
01:02And, you know, those are the kind of the books that were with illustrations that I liked.
01:06I mean, I'm a dumb football player.
01:08Found out I was having a child.
01:10I want to say hi to my little baby girl, Lily. I love you.
01:13Dad is coming to see you.
01:14I wanted to have something that I could, you know, potentially give to her.
01:19The book's about a little animal named Jules the Squirrel.
01:23Oh, Jules is the squirrel with the red hands.
01:26They're supposed to be the gloves.
01:28Yeah.
01:29Huh?
01:30Who sees a bunch of guys playing football outside, and he decides that he wants to go play.
01:37You're too weak, says the eagle.
01:38You're too slow, says the buffalo.
01:40You're too small, says the bear.
01:44Jules has never felt so sad in his whole life.
01:47Little Jules gets all Debbie Downer on himself.
01:49He sees this goat practicing.
01:53Hey there, I'm Tom, says the goat.
01:55The goat just so happens to be named Tom.
01:58Hmm.
01:59A goat named Tom.
02:01The Patriots have one of them, too.
02:03And he wasn't allowed to play for the first four games of the season.
02:07So it appears we have the end of the deflate.
02:10Deflate is bold.
02:12Deflate is bold.
02:14No wonder his marriage fell apart.
02:17Deflate is bold.
02:18Gate saga.
02:19I have made the difficult decision to no longer proceed with the legal process.
02:24To see one of your best friends not get to suit up and play with you over something we won't
02:30get into.
02:32But, you know, that's kind of, you know, you get that if feeling like that's some ugh.
02:38You know, ugh.
02:40To the end line, touch and go.
02:42That's what we need.
02:43You know, Coach Belichick's a machine.
02:45Yeah, because you're not right.
02:46You can't run fast.
02:48Same thing that happens in the game.
02:49He'll get up in front of the team, announce what happened, and we're moving on.
02:54And obviously this one was a little different than a lot of the other things that we've gone through.
02:59But Coach Belichick has a mindset where I can't waste my time on something I can't control.
03:05With the GOAT MIA, the Patriots relied on a battering man.
03:10Give the block, he rambles up their middle, and then he puts it.
03:13Cloud forward, driving the ball, to the end zone.
03:17Touchdown, Patriots.
03:18Hey.
03:20That's up.
03:20What, boy?
03:22Garoppolo dropping back, looking to throw.
03:24Loft it down the left side.
03:25Hook it, wide open.
03:26Has it at the 10-inch drive.
03:27Goodbye.
03:29Big contract, and he did deliver.
03:35Brady's backup, Jimmy Garoppolo, won his first start.
03:39And in his second, he threw three touchdown passes in the first 17 minutes.
03:44On the money.
03:45Touchdown, Patriots.
03:47But he left the game with a shoulder injury.
03:50Everybody on the team was like, dang, my starter, gone for four weeks.
03:54We just lost Jimmy.
03:55When you see your backup quarterback go down, it's just like, man, it's going to be one of those seasons.
04:04But you've got to put in your mindset, the train's got to keep moving.
04:09Patriots down to the third quarterback.
04:11Doesn't matter.
04:12The train keeps rolling.
04:14Usually, the LeGarrette Blunt Express runs north and south.
04:17But occasionally, he veers off track.
04:20I'm like, okay, this is my chance.
04:22I don't really get these tosses.
04:24So, in order for me to get some more, I've got to make something out of it.
04:27LeGarrette Blunt trying to get outside.
04:29He does.
04:29To the 25.
04:30He handles over the man in the 40-yard line.
04:33I know Big Boy can jump like that.
04:35He showed me something new.
04:37Number 41.
04:38I just seen him dip his head down.
04:39That's 240 pounds in here.
04:42Whenever they dip their head and turn their head, they're not wanting to hit you.
04:45I just jump over him.
04:47And I just seen another guy coming.
04:48And instead of just running straight down the sideline, I just look at him.
04:53And I turn towards him.
04:54And I go try to run him over.
04:58He just didn't want to go out of bounds.
05:02The Florida native has been running over NFL defenders since his days as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer.
05:08He bounced off right guard.
05:09Into Packer territory.
05:11Dragging Packers with it.
05:12He's on his feet to the 35.
05:13He runs over another guy.
05:15Green.
05:15Got a block to the right 20.
05:16Look, Garrett Blunt refused to go down.
05:19I've seen the run multiple times.
05:22It's posted everywhere.
05:23Somebody just posted it on Instagram on some kind of NFL highlights page.
05:27Obviously, you're not expecting to break all those tackles.
05:30You just keep your legs moving, keep your legs moving, keep your legs moving.
05:33Just make sure whenever y'all do y'all top 10, Raiders runs, NFL history, put that on there, please.
05:41I've always wanted to be NFL.
05:43Didn't make the NFL network list.
05:47Honorable mention, though.
05:50NFL players.
05:51Where I grew up at, Perry is a small, small place.
05:55And they've had a lot of good athletes come through.
05:58My dad being one of them.
05:59And every game I played, it was always, man, you ain't gonna never be better than your daddy, boy.
06:05Got him to high school.
06:06No matter how good of a season I had, I just kept on hearing me.
06:09They kept on hearing me.
06:10Touchdown, McGarrett, mother!
06:11To this day, I can go home right now and talk to some of the people, and they'll still tell
06:16me,
06:17boy, you're half as good of an athlete as your dad was.
06:20I used to race him growing up.
06:22I could never beat him.
06:23He made the NFL.
06:25How good was his dad then?
06:29Never.
06:30When I got 14, he said, you think you could beat me?
06:33I'm like, yeah, I feel like I could beat you right now.
06:35He said, go!
06:37And now running.
06:39And when I see myself catching him, and I got beside him, I said, well, yeah, this is the one.
06:45I'm gonna never race him again after this.
06:48And I got past him, and I beat him.
06:50Another give to McGarrett.
06:52Across the 40 to the 35.
06:54Now when I break these long runs and stuff, after the game, I get a phone call from him,
06:58and I'll be like, what you think?
07:00How'd I do?
07:01He was like, oh, I know.
07:02Once he got past the last one, they ain't gonna catch him.
07:05You know what I'm saying?
07:06He respect the speed now.
07:07So I got around the edge, and I almost run into Julian.
07:12So I kind of like dip a little bit.
07:13I just see a guy like, phew.
07:16I see a guy like, get pancaked.
07:18Boy, ended up taking him down.
07:20Just ended up pancaging him.
07:21I can honestly say he's one of the best blocking receivers in the NFL.
07:26There's an old saying, the more you can do.
07:28Through my time here, I'd hear guys like Brewski, Kay Falk.
07:32They'd always say, hey, the more you can do.
07:34Good job, man.
07:34Good job, buddy.
07:35It's kind of a mentality.
07:37Hey, do your job.
07:39You just do your job.
07:42Blunt did his job in September.
07:44He was the AFC's Offensive Player of the Month.
07:47And despite playing with backup quarterbacks, New England started the season 3-1,
07:53which was bad news for the rest of the league.
07:56Kobe Briss had got himself a contract from, it had to be the Colts or something like that.
08:03I think it was the Colts.
08:05He didn't, he was okay, but he wasn't what they were expecting to be.
08:10It was just the Pat system that made him look good.
08:21It was cool to see him.
08:26We haven't seen him in four weeks.
08:27We weren't allowed to contact him.
08:29I think he may have been in Italy getting pictures of himself, like, taking, like, naked and stuff.
08:34I don't know, but, you know, he must have had his football out there, you know, eating spaghetti and throwing
08:40footballs.
08:41You know, that's what he does.
08:44If the spaghetti doesn't have tomatoes, because he doesn't eat tomatoes.
08:48So, or gluten.
08:50Hmm, or, I don't know.
08:52He came in and he gave everybody hugs, and his face started turning red because everybody was looking at him.
08:59I may have gave a Brady chant.
09:02I don't know, I don't remember.
09:05Brady's first game was in Cleveland.
09:07Fittingly, the GOAT's first completion went to the squirrel.
09:11Drops back, looks right, throws it right for Edelman.
09:13Catch at the 25.
09:14His go-to guy to get it started.
09:16Julian Edelman was targeted a career-high 159 times in 2016.
09:23Clearly, he and Brady have a special relationship.
09:27I'd say it's like two dolphins.
09:28Throwing a ball at you 10 times a game, and you come down with it.
09:37Seven, pretty good.
09:43We got sonar.
09:45You know where Flip's at?
09:48Skip's over here.
09:49Flip and skip.
09:50We're just throwing sonars off each other.
09:53I made that one up off the dome.
09:55I didn't know where I was going with it for a while.
09:58I was...
09:59Peas and carrots?
10:01Peas and carrots.
10:02Brady knew exactly where he was going with it in Cleveland.
10:06He fires deep down the right side, looking for Hogan.
10:08Behind the defense.
10:09He's running.
10:11He's like, damn.
10:12I mean, I know that's...
10:13I mean, that's TB, but you don't just miss four games and then come out and just throw
10:1740 yards like that.
10:18And whatever he was on, man, I guess I need to jump on that, too.
10:20It might have been that avocado ice cream.
10:22Avocado ice cream.
10:23It's not that bad, either.
10:24It's not that bad.
10:25The guy didn't play the first four games.
10:26First game, he comes back, he throws for 406 yards.
10:30That's goatish.
10:31That's the goat.
10:35Yeah, Tom Brady is the goat, but it's the Browns.
10:39So, they were like 1-15 that year.
10:45Yeah, you clobbered the Browns.
10:48Everybody beats the Browns.
10:51But he's still the goat.
10:53Fans in New England have been marking their calendars with this state.
10:58Yep, and here he comes.
11:01The place is erupting.
11:03He had this look in his eye.
11:04He always has that look, but it was different this time.
11:07He had a posture like, they want to sustain me for four games for something I didn't do?
11:13Like, we're going to see who's going to get the last laugh at the end of this season.
11:16There's not many games you don't see that face.
11:18You know Brady because that's when he comes trotting out with Jimmy.
11:21And he goes and does his little fist pump.
11:24That's when, you know, he started tightening up them gloves a little more.
11:28Buckle it up.
11:29It was go time.
11:29Go, baby.
11:31Go, baby.
11:32Go, go.
11:34Brady threw for 376 yards and three touchdowns in the lopsided win.
11:40And Dante Hightower, who missed two of the first five games himself with an injury, also had a big day.
11:46That was probably my favorite game plan, you know, the whole year.
11:50Snap to Dalton Lane.
11:51Blitzer coming.
11:52Hightower.
11:52And he's in the end zone.
11:54Throws him down for a safety.
11:56You know, anytime I get dialed up to blitz or come off the edge or blitz up the middle or
12:00just any way to be destructive, I'm always down for it.
12:07For himself in his hometown of Lewisburg, Tennessee.
12:10All right.
12:11All right.
12:13At the University of Alabama, he won two national championships.
12:20Since high school, he's only played under head coaches Nick Saban and Bill Belichick.
12:25So it's no surprise he has a high football IQ.
12:29I'm very lucky and blessed.
12:30It's worth it.
12:31But it's been hell.
12:33And I'd be lying if I said anything different.
12:36Nick and Bill obviously were real close friends and they coached together in Cleveland.
12:40If we don't play our ass off, they'll beat us.
12:42I agree.
12:43It doesn't surprise me of, you know, how much success they have whenever you look and see how much those
12:47guys live, breathe and, you know, dive football.
12:49Pulling out all stops.
12:51They're literally the exact same.
12:55In 2016, Hightower was selected as a team captain.
12:59His locker was moved to a more prominent spot where previous linebacking greats had dressed.
13:05He earned it.
13:06He earned to be in that category of guys that sat there.
13:10Guys like Mayo, Willie, Boruski.
13:12Guys that work hard, love the game, do anything for the team.
13:16It's definitely an honor.
13:18But I'm not Willie Mack.
13:19I'm not Mayo.
13:20I'm not Teddy.
13:22I'm not Ray Bull.
13:23I'm not any of those guys.
13:25The best thing I can do is be me.
13:27Hightower has a habit.
13:28I would have been better than some of those guys.
13:32Maybe.
13:34...of being in the right spot at the right time.
13:36He proved that in his first NFL game in 2012.
13:41Pounding into the end zone.
13:42Touchdown by Bate Hightower.
13:44In Super Bowl XLIX, it was his game-saving tackle on Marshawn Lynch that set the stage for Malcolm Butler's
13:52interception on the next play.
13:55His name even showed up in an episode of Orange is the New Black.
13:59I thought it was pretty dope getting a little recognition out there like that.
14:02Now, let us imagine this is a diminutive lady inmate and not, uh, Don't the Hightower over here.
14:11You know, the way that they pronounced it, I don't know if it was a joke or what it was.
14:15Learning Hightower's name is something even those...
14:18...who was supposed to be mispronounced in the script...
14:21...close to him have to do.
14:24Do you know what his real first name is?
14:26Mm-mm, but you need to tell me.
14:28It's not D-O-N-T-A?
14:31Q-U-A-L-I-N.
14:33Oh, my goodness.
14:34My first name is Qualen.
14:35Qualen?
14:36It's not Qualen.
14:37It's Qualen.
14:39Oh, he's done.
14:41Qualen from now on.
14:43Qualen.
14:44I'm gonna hashtag that immediately after I get out of this interview.
14:47You can't even find this on, like, Wikipedia.
14:50That's kind of a cool name.
14:53Pittsburgh, they're familiar with the name Blunt.
14:57LeGarrett was a Steeler in 2014.
15:00And before he even played in a regular season game, he was making headlines.
15:05The Steelers running back to Le'Veon Bell and LeGarrett Blunt have been charged with marijuana possession following a traffic
15:11stop.
15:12In November of 2014, after he left the field before a game was over, the Steelers released Blunt.
15:19The Patriots signed him.
15:21In the AFC Championship, he scored three touchdowns, and he helped New England win Super Bowl XLIX.
15:30In his return to Pittsburgh, Blunt ran for 127 yards.
15:35LG, keep running that rock, baby.
15:38I love it.
15:41He scored two touchdowns to bring his total to eight in seven games.
15:46Phenomenal rushing game by LeGarrett Blunt.
15:50The following week, Julian Edelman scored his first touchdown of the season.
15:54Come on, Jules!
15:55Come on, Jules!
15:57He's caught and runs toward the goal line.
15:59He's in!
16:00Yeah!
16:01Good job, baby.
16:03Good job, Bob.
16:03That's your first one this year?
16:05At 7-1, the Patriots had the best record in football.
16:09But as they headed into their bye week, their head coach was about to make a shocking decision.
16:17The wisdom of Bill Belichick was questioned by many when midway through the season, he traded linebacker Jamie Collins,
16:24who was second-team All-Pro in 2015, to Cleveland for a conditional draft pick.
16:31The best defensive player we got, the most athletic guy on the team, is business.
16:36It's more of a business than it is football.
16:37So, I don't know why it happened the way it did.
16:41I think it's kind of like, holy s**t, I can't believe that just happened.
16:44A lot of guys didn't agree with it.
16:47All guys didn't agree with it.
16:48I don't think nobody did.
16:50You never know what Bill is thinking.
16:52But I know that every decision and every move that he makes, he always makes it for the best interest
16:56of the team.
16:57There's a reason why he's been so successful in what he's done.
17:01And, I mean, it's hard to argue with it.
17:04Everyone's, like, looking around like, am I next?
17:07Like, you just never know.
17:11Job security might not be an issue for everyone in New England.
17:14And in a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX, it was LeGarrette Blunt who showed his value to the Patriots.
17:21To the five, touchdown!
17:25Blunt scored three touchdowns, including this one-yard run in which he took 30 steps.
17:31Into the end zone!
17:33And LeGarrette Blunt still on his feet!
17:35Blunt's into the right!
17:36He's in!
17:38Touchdown, Patriots!
17:39We'll call that Blunt Force Charming!
17:41It ended up being a brand of mine.
17:43You know, we copyrighted it.
17:44Now we have shirts, hoodies, you know, coffee mugs, backpacks, hats, the whole nine yards.
17:51Blunt Force!
17:52You see my guy hurtling over somebody, right?
17:57Blunt's leap, with less than a minute remaining, came up short.
18:00And like Super Bowl XLIX, this game ended with drama in the end zone.
18:06Fourth and goal to go, down seven for New England.
18:10Feedback corner, the end zone left, contact, there will be no call!
18:18I was basically just saying like, are you serious?
18:22That's a flag.
18:23They were just telling me like, he's stumbling, he was tripping, and I'm like, no, that's not
18:26what the case was.
18:27There's no possible way he can guard him.
18:29We got back in the film room and watched it, grunt, tried to put a move on him, and
18:33his feet kind of get tangled and he started falling.
18:36I was in the wrong.
18:36The official was right?
18:37He was right.
18:38He was right.
18:40But you got to put the case in the game.
18:42I'm trying to win an Oscar.
18:45A home loss is rare for the Patriots.
18:48Even more rare for Tom Brady and Julian Edelman is going home to play.
18:53But in week 11, the California kids face their hometown team.
18:58Redwood City, Bay Area, Peninsula kid, through and through.
19:03Playing for the Redwood City 49ers, too.
19:05It was just a huge part of my life.
19:07Exact same uniform.
19:08Said we had RC on the side.
19:10Pignotti looks to pass as a receiver.
19:14Edelman, through Edelman.
19:15I loved the Niners growing up.
19:17I had two dogs, Dwight and Montana.
19:20To get to go out and put a show on in front of a lot of friends, a lot of
19:24family.
19:25A homecoming for Brandon Edelman.
19:28It was so cool.
19:29I think I had like 30 tickets or something.
19:32In 2016, Edelman had a career-high 1,106 receiving yards and scored a career-long 77-yard touchdown.
19:40Edelman makes the grab and he spreads across the 35-40.
19:43I was hoping, like I was stretching out my back, like, I hope this guy doesn't get me before Mike's
19:47there.
19:48Joey with the point.
19:49Oh boy, it's a great point, boy.
19:51And Mike lays him out.
19:53Floyd with the puck.
19:54He was like, am I home free?
19:57Goodbye, Joey Edelman.
19:59Touchdown.
20:01McGarrett-Blunt also had career highs in 2016.
20:04Rushing for 1,161 yards.
20:07And a team record 18 touchdowns.
20:11Yeah, boy, that's a blunt force charm off the right side.
20:13The Patriots won their final seven games of the regular season to finish 14-2.
20:19Touchdown, Patriots.
20:21And even without Jamie Collins, their defense excelled.
20:25How about this defense on the road in Denver?
20:27They're having fun.
20:28They're making plays.
20:29Patricia Belichick got to play exactly the way they wanted to play.
20:32That's what I'm talking about.
20:34That's what I'm talking about.
20:37Twice in the last three weeks, they didn't give up a touchdown.
20:40And they finished the season with the fewest points allowed in the NFL.
20:45Now, that might be the only stat that I care about that was big for us.
20:50Despite their dominance, New England still had some heart-stopping moments.
20:55McGarrett-Blunt caused one of them.
20:57I know when I reverse field, I'm running this way, and he'd look at me, and I'm looking at him.
21:02And I just turn around, and I'm like, go.
21:05And he'd take off running, and I'm just thinking, please, nobody hit him.
21:09Everybody on the sideline would be fine with time just going to the sideline and sitting down.
21:13When I get behind him, I'm like this.
21:16My hand's on his back, so it looks like I'm trying to guide him to block somebody.
21:20And guys are just running around him.
21:22He come out of there unscathed, and I feel like that's definitely 100% I respect him.
21:27100% I respect him.
21:30Most of Blunt's runs weren't so roundabout.
21:34On and off the field, he now seems to prefer the straight and narrow path.
21:39Touchdown, Patriots!
21:42I don't know how to handle certain situations a lot better.
21:46I just got myself around all the right people.
21:48LG, we need you.
21:50Need you, LG.
21:51I love him, and he's like the cool dude in school.
21:54Everybody wanted to be around.
21:56Everybody wanted to be around LG.
21:57I just wanted to let you know I'll block for you for my whole life, bro.
22:00All day, bro.
22:01I appreciate it, man.
22:02I love you, bro.
22:03You have to transform yourself.
22:04You have to grow.
22:05You know, you can't stay the same person for 70 years, or else you won't be successful in this league.
22:10Merry Christmas.
22:11Merry Christmas.
22:13Merry Christmas.
22:14Merry Christmas.
22:14Merry Christmas.
22:16Jules, the score is off the surface.
22:19Against the Texans, Lewis became the first player in a playoff game to score touchdowns rushing, receiving, and on a
22:27kick return.
22:28Woo!
22:30Woo!
22:30Lewis' breakout performance was a welcome sight for Julian Edelman.
22:36Seeing Tom Brady throw a block on an end around definitely was not.
22:41He lives for that block.
22:43I don't know why.
22:45Like, bro, get down and get out of the way.
22:48Stop with the skiing and stop with the blocking.
22:51I don't want to have to talk about it again.
22:53No waterfalls.
22:54Just distribute the football.
22:56In the win against the Texans, Brady found Edelman eight times for 137 yards, as number 11 became the Patriots
23:04all-time leader in postseason receptions.
23:07Edelman makes the grab of the 30.
23:09You know, you got Edelman pushing off a lot.
23:12Edelman pushing off a lot.
23:13When you went that way, you shook off a little too much.
23:15Okay?
23:16But he engaged on me.
23:18I know, but you...
23:19If he engages on me, it says in the rule book, I can hit his arm off.
23:22That's right.
23:23You can hit his arm off.
23:23That's what I did.
23:23I was like that.
23:24I'm just...
23:25I didn't...
23:26I know, yeah, yeah.
23:27I know.
23:27I'm just telling you, you're real close.
23:29I get so defensive.
23:30I'm sorry.
23:30Don't do that, though.
23:31My therapist...
23:32He's sensitive, man.
23:33My therapist yells at me for that.
23:35The following week in the AFC Championship, Edelman's witty banter continued.
23:42Nill, baby.
23:43Nill.
23:43The fact that you got to talk about it means you're not.
23:46Oh, man.
23:47These are funny to hear.
23:48I haven't seen these.
23:49No.
23:50I don't watch this.
23:55Backs up, bouncing on his feet.
23:56Looks down the middle.
23:57Throws down the middle.
23:58Touchdown, Edelman!
23:59Edelman and Chris Hogan combined for 17 catches and three touchdowns.
24:04He tosses it back to Braden and a flicker.
24:06Got him.
24:06Mitchell open.
24:07He throws it.
24:07Stuck the hook into the right.
24:09Touchdown, Adrian!
24:13My dad always used to tell me when I was a young boy, when you've got them down, you break
24:18their neck.
24:22That's what he used to tell me.
24:23I was like 12.
24:24I was like, damn.
24:25I was like, that's kind of, that's a lot.
24:28It's true.
24:30That's why I am the way I am, though.
24:32What way are you?
24:34I don't even know.
24:35I think I'm still trying to figure that one out.
24:38But I think I'm that way.
24:41You got to have that mentality, man.
24:43You got to have that mentality.
24:45And I feel like that's the reason why he worked so hard.
24:48Because when he gets you to that point, he's going to finish you.
24:53If there was one play that epitomized that mentality, it came courtesy of LeGarrette Blount.
24:59Gives it to Blount.
25:00Runs it to the left side.
25:0115-10.
25:02Lowers the shoulders.
25:03Driving the legs.
25:04Taking a pile on the five.
25:05Still on the move.
25:07Unrelected.
25:08LeGarrette Blount to the two.
25:10You've got to be kidding me.
25:11When they carry, you know, five or six guys like that, the dude is different.
25:16He's a different breed, man.
25:18Blood force trauma.
25:22Our guys come out of nowhere and just kind of hit the pile and try to keep on bringing the
25:26pile.
25:29That was like a little microcosm of how we want our team, I guess.
25:33Jumping on the pile.
25:35Pushing the pile.
25:37Eight dudes in.
25:38Let's get nine.
25:39Brady, come join us.
25:41It's a party.
25:45Those types of plays fire you up.
25:47It was a statement.
25:50After that play, the offensive line was like, man, we were trying so hard to get you in the end
25:55zone.
25:55That would have been known as one of the greatest touchdown runs in, like, postseason history.
26:00They know we're running it.
26:01We know we're running it.
26:02Who's going to get it?
26:04Ball's at the one.
26:05Blood in the back.
26:06They're picking the hand up.
26:07Let's get a blood to the end zone.
26:11When you can ground and pound a team and just break their will, it's an awesome feeling.
26:21The New England Patriots play one more game.
26:25Are you happy?
26:25Am I happy?
26:26I'm happy.
26:27I'll be happy.
26:28The other one.
26:29Happy.
26:30I know you're happy.
26:31I'm a little happy, too.
26:33He looked at me like the annoying little brother.
26:35Yeah, I'm happy, bro.
26:37What?
26:38That was a job, man.
26:40One more, buddy.
26:40One more.
26:41You keep it going, buddy.
26:42Let's go.
26:43Up next, he's like a squirrel.
26:45He's always going to get his nut.
26:47Oh, that's a catch.
26:48The crazy final chapter.
26:51Seeing their team score a point in the first quarter.
26:54I knew that stat.
26:56We talked about that going into that game.
26:58He would just sit there like,
27:00Maybe I'm not doing enough coaching good enough in the first quarter.
27:03Like, like all week long.
27:06And then we don't do it again.
27:07Did we score in the first quarter?
27:08Oh, my God.
27:12The second quarter didn't begin any better.
27:15Brady with a hand off to Blood.
27:16Runs it left.
27:17Cuts it upfield.
27:17And Jones tries to go.
27:18Ball's loose.
27:19And the Falcons seemingly got it.
27:22It's like, oh.
27:24Come on, LG.
27:27I had it like this.
27:28And he just, with all his might.
27:32I don't know if he's a superhuman.
27:35Full force snatch it.
27:36Like, man, I had the sickest feeling in my gut.
27:40I'm thinking in my head, like,
27:42I know they're going to go score now that I found that ball.
27:44I know they're going to go score.
27:45Diving into the end zone.
27:47Touchdown, Atlanta.
27:49Points off turnovers.
27:51Diving, catch, touchdown, Hooper in Atlanta.
27:54That's what opened the floodgates, really, bro.
27:57I put that pick on the ground.
27:59He's like, you know how to, you know how to, you know how to, you know, bro.
28:01That momentum moves.
28:03I remember that exact quote, you know, I'm like, damn.
28:08That's what, that is, that's what opened the floodgates.
28:10Takes the step.
28:11Four-man rush.
28:12He's pressured.
28:12He throws down the middle.
28:13Pass is picked off.
28:14It's coming back to the right.
28:15Helford on the run to the 40.
28:17Good ball.
28:18Did you play any worse?
28:23To get a page six, it could have been a dagger.
28:26It could have been the dagger.
28:29We ain't all right.
28:31We're not all right.
28:32I mean, like, what the hell is going on?
28:34Is there any panic starting to set in at this point?
28:37No.
28:39No.
28:40We got the greatest quarterback of all time.
28:43We have the greatest coach of all time.
28:45As long as there's time on that clock, I don't think there's no lead that they would feel like we
28:50couldn't come back from.
28:51We've been in situations where we've been down a lot of points, and I know they haven't been to the
28:55Super Bowl.
28:56It's going to be a hell of a story, and I just kept on saying it in the locker room
29:00at halftime.
29:01Let's go!
29:02No game.
29:02Like, it's more about us just going out there and doing what the hell we got to do.
29:06Throw down the middle for Edelman, and he dropped it.
29:08I was super pissed about that, because, you know, you can't be the guy saying it's going to be a
29:12hell of a story,
29:14and then on first, third down, drop third down.
29:17So I'm over here like, damn, bro, I let my team down.
29:20And then they scored.
29:22Touchdown Atlanta!
29:24Let's go now!
29:25Let's go!
29:26It's coming back to the right.
29:28Helford on the run to the 40.
29:29Good ball.
29:31It should play any worse.
29:35Everything we got!
29:37When he starts hitting that octave, that high note.
29:40Hey, no!
29:41Man, it sounds like he just hit puberty, and he's pushing 40.
29:48Fear!
29:49No fear!
29:50Cut it loose!
29:51That's when you know he's here for some business.
29:54Fire is left.
29:55Catch made by White.
29:55Trinch to the inside.
29:56Dives across the goal line.
29:59Touchdown Patriots!
30:00That's how I start right there.
30:02All you need is one.
30:03There's the one you need.
30:04Let's go now!
30:05We've been here!
30:06We've been here!
30:10No more mistakes.
30:11No more bad.
30:12There's none of that no more.
30:14Everything's got to be perfect.
30:15Everything's got to be perfect.
30:17Need a turnover, D.
30:19Ryan waits on the staff.
30:20Backs up.
30:22And Hightower gets to the quarterback.
30:24Ball is loose.
30:26Patriots sack Ryan.
30:28And recovering at the 25!
30:31What a terrific blitz by Dante Hightower.
30:34He runs right past Devontae Freeman.
30:37Matty P, uh, led a great ball.
30:40He is Matt Patricia, who once pursued a career.
30:43Future Lions coach.
30:44Here, as a rocket, Dante Hightower thinks his defensive coordinator still looks the part.
30:50Straight up crazy, mad, mad science, rocket science.
30:53That's the classic Matty P.
30:56If, if, when he cuts his beard, I think he loses his swag.
31:01I mean, Matty P, he ain't got that much swag, but that beard is all his swag.
31:05On the game's pivotal play, New England's mad scientist was at his diabolical best.
31:11In this one, I was ridiculously wide to the backside of Matt Ryan.
31:20By the time he looks at me, I'm just swatting and pushing him to get him out the way.
31:25By that time, I'm right at Matt Ryan, and I see him getting ready to let the ball go, so
31:29see ball, get ball.
31:36Good luck, Freeman.
31:47That's when the U-Gotta believes, and that's when you started believing.
31:52Backs up, looks left, throws it for Amendola, touchdown Patriots!
31:58Pass will go for two, 5.56 to go here on the fourth.
32:01Direct snap to James White, runs up the middle, he's in for two!
32:04Yeah! Yeah!
32:07Brady, and the Patriots take advantage of the takeaway, and it's a one-score game.
32:12Hey, this didn't get interesting.
32:14Hey, good.
32:16The last five minutes of the game is where the Super Bowl was named.
32:20We're getting the O-T, it's over, man.
32:23You got a chance.
32:24You have a chance.
32:27Well, duh.
32:29Yeah, if it's overtime, the game is much more likely to end quickly.
32:35Yeah, of course it's over with.
32:39We got Tom Brady.
32:40We got Tom Brady.
32:43He's the greatest of all time, bro.
32:45Hands down, bro.
32:47He's almost like, not human.
32:50Because, I feel like 99.9% of the world would just be so nervous.
32:57I have the whole season on my shoulders right now.
33:01I make one mistake, it's over for us.
33:04We're worried about messing anything up for us.
33:07Let this quarterback get the surgical knife out.
33:09Let's go.
33:10Nobody else you want to have it in his hands.
33:13The Patriots are in good hands with Brady.
33:17The footballer is in good hands with Edelman.
33:19For Edelman, lost his head.
33:21And Joey is diving for it.
33:22Like, I was 90% sure.
33:25So, I'm sitting there like, gotta sell him.
33:29It was a catch.
33:29Let's go.
33:30I got it.
33:31I got it.
33:31I got it.
33:32I got it.
33:34I got it.
33:36We sit over there.
33:36And I'm like, did he really catch that?
33:39He didn't catch that.
33:41I'm like, ain't no damn way he caught that damn ball.
33:43I caught it.
33:44Crazy, I swear to God.
33:46No way, look at that.
33:47Watch.
33:47No, damn.
33:48No.
33:49No.
33:50They're showing the slowdown on the jumbotron.
33:52I'm like, bro, he actually caught that.
33:57Oh, that's a catch.
34:00How do you have the awareness to do that in real time?
34:05Man, that is not human.
34:07That is not human.
34:08You don't get no better than that, man.
34:10But I wouldn't expect anybody else to make that catch but Jules.
34:14Man, that was crazy.
34:15That's crazy, bro.
34:17Hey, Jules always come up in the huge moments, though.
34:20Oh, my God.
34:21That's incredible.
34:23You were blessed by the football gods on that one.
34:25Gotta believe, bro.
34:27Let's go.
34:28Gotta believe.
34:29Gotta believe, boy.
34:31Tom Brady set Super Bowl records with 466 passing yards and 43 completions.
34:39James White caught a Super Bowl record 14 of them.
34:43And with one minute remaining,
34:45Go in.
34:45I got this, guys.
34:47White scored his first Russian touchdown of the end.
34:51Brady's record 466 passing yards stood all the way until next year's Super Bowl when he broke his own record.
35:07The entire season.
35:08Up the middle.
35:10Touchdown, Patriots!
35:12The biggest two-point attempt in the history of the Patriots franchise.
35:17Now it comes down to this.
35:2057 seconds to go.
35:21A two for the tie.
35:22Tom takes the step.
35:23Quick throw to Amidol.
35:24Screen left.
35:25Reaches across the goal line.
35:27It's a tie game in Super Bowl 51.
35:29I can't believe it.
35:31Yeah!
35:32Yeah!
35:33Don't ever count Tom Brady out.
35:36Best ever.
35:37Best ever in my book.
35:39And we go to overtime here in Houston.
35:42First time.
35:44It is heads.
35:46And we're going to toss.
35:47Oh, man.
35:48I think everybody kind of knew if we get the ball first in overtime, it's a wrap.
35:54I'm not going to lie.
35:55Once we won the toss, I knew we were winning.
35:57Let's go score and win this thing, baby.
36:02We just climbed over Mount Everest to get back in this game.
36:08I had a feeling like they can't stop us now.
36:14Money's on the line.
36:16Seat number 11.
36:17He will be there in clutch time.
36:21We got to get the end zone, bro.
36:24He's on!
36:31Toss sweep right for James White.
36:33Cuts it under the right arm.
36:34Cuts it upfield.
36:34Driving forward.
36:35Diving to the goal line.
36:37He's doing it.
36:37A touchdown!
36:42Game over.
36:45I end up falling, screaming like a little girl all the way across the field.
36:49I think it was Malcolm and AB coming, running and jumping on me, and I couldn't breathe,
36:52but I didn't care.
36:54There's no better feeling than that.
36:57And here I come sprinting, you know, full speed.
37:01Probably the fastest I've ever run in my life.
37:03I didn't even know that it was getting reviewed.
37:14We were down there for so long, like, was it anybody still on the field, like, waiting
37:18for the car to get changed or anything?
37:21It's not over!
37:23Get off the field!
37:25Is it over?
37:26Yes.
37:27They gotta review it.
37:28They reviewed it.
37:28Did they?
37:29Yeah.
37:29Oh, my God!
37:31Woo!
37:31I gotta believe.
37:33Oh, man.
37:33I gotta believe.
37:37Love you, buddy.
37:37Love you too, buddy.
37:38Elvin John.
37:38Two-goal champions.
37:39What's up?
37:40Me and Matty P have been close, you know, since I got here.
37:43He was always one of the guys who demanded a lot from me, and, you know, besides me and
37:48my family, I don't think anybody else was proud of me.
37:51Yeah.
37:51Appreciate it.
37:52Big-time players make big-time plays in big-time games.
37:55That's you!
37:55No, baby.
37:56I love you, bro.
37:57I love you, bro.
37:59Unbelievable.
37:59I appreciate you, bro.
38:01I appreciate you so much, bro.
38:04What are we?
38:04Look what we just did.
38:05We got that.
38:07That's the play we needed right there.
38:09That was the play, man.
38:10That was it.
38:11That was it.
38:12Are you kidding me?
38:13We made a story.
38:14What did I say at halftime?
38:16It's going to be a hell of a story.
38:17I love you, bro.
38:18Describe Tom Brady in one word.
38:20Goat.
38:21Goat.
38:22Goat.
38:22He's the goat.
38:23No question about it.
38:25He is the goat.
38:26Oh, my God.
38:28I love you, guys.
38:29I love you, baby.
38:30How'd it go, man?
38:31Unbelievable, girl.
38:32What a game.
38:32Hey.
38:33You're the greatest of all time.
38:35Why we're here.
38:36You're the greatest, and you're the greatest.
38:38I will never forget saying that.
38:40I remember that.
38:40I remember saying that exactly.
38:42You won the Super Bowl again.
38:43Huh?
38:44You won the Super Bowl again.
38:45This is something that you're going to be able to remember for the rest of your life.
38:48Baby, you brought them here.
38:52There's a lot of Hall of Famers that has never even seen a Super Bowl.
38:57Jackie Slater.
38:58Matthew Slater.
38:58You're not lying.
39:00You're not lying.
39:01Jackie Slater played 20 years in the league.
39:04He got to one Super Bowl.
39:06They lost.
39:1019, 20 years in the league.
39:14Listen, I knew that this football team was going to go as far as you and top football.
39:18Yes, sir.
39:19You did a hell of a job, man.
39:20I appreciate it.
39:20I'm so proud of you.
39:21I appreciate it.
39:21I'm so proud of you.
39:22All of you have been through the last few years, man.
39:25You stepped up to the plate.
39:27Yes, sir.
39:27And you've earned everything that's happened to you.
39:29I appreciate it.
39:29We're about to kiss the trophy.
39:31But the kiss is trophy.
39:33I ain't been to kiss it.
39:34Too many lips been on there.
39:36Can't kiss it.
39:37Too many hands been on it.
39:39I don't know how people kiss championship trophies.
39:42All these fingerprints and blood and sweat.
39:45And, and, like, you got sweat on your lips, man.
39:53You got sweat.
39:54In the football, you got dirt on your hands.
39:58I'm not touching, not kissing the trophy.
40:00I'll touch the trophy.
40:04Sanitize it or something first before I kiss it.
40:06I don't know if I really kissed it or not, but I know I hugged it for sure.
40:09There you go.
40:10Hug it.
40:11For LeGarrette Blount, hugging the Lombardi trophy was a bit easier than hugging his mother.
40:17I'm trying to find my mama.
40:18I need to find my mama, so.
40:19Man, she had thoughts that she had to leave right after.
40:23And so when she, when the game, like, when the game was over and we started celebrating and stuff, she,
40:28uh, I think she left the stadium.
40:30So you outside of the stadium?
40:31They found her and brought her inside the little hallway of the stadium where we walk in.
40:36And she gave me the biggest hug.
40:37She started crying, said, I love you.
40:42Without her, man, she just made a lot of sacrifices for me.
40:45How you feeling, mom?
40:46Wonderful.
40:49Come on, baby.
40:50That's my boy.
40:51Woo-wee.
40:53Yeah.
40:54Man, it's always good to, to celebrate with my mom.
40:57And, you know, again, she's, she's my sword and she's the reason why I'm here.
41:01Yeah!
41:03Woo!
41:04Woo!
41:05That was probably my favorite hug.
41:08I love you, mom.
41:09I love you.
41:10How did you do?
41:12We do this.
41:12I had no doubt, man.
41:14You gotta, you gotta believe, mom.
41:15A huge part of the reason I'm at where I'm at is because of my folks.
41:18I can't believe it.
41:19I know, son.
41:21I know.
41:22Just hold on to daddy.
41:23You gotta believe.
41:24You gotta believe.
41:26You know, becoming a father this year.
41:28I'm so proud of you.
41:29I love you.
41:30I love you more than anything in this world, by the way.
41:32I feel like I have a lot to live up to, to be like my folks.
41:37McGarrett Blunt is also a father.
41:39And his son is ready to follow in, or speed ahead, of his footsteps.
41:46If you go ask him right now, LB, are you faster than your dad?
41:49He'll say, yeah.
41:50Seven years old.
41:51Yeah, he'll feel like he can beat me.
41:53You'll never beat me in a race, son.
41:57This is unequivocally the sweetest.
42:02He's probably beating him in a race right now.
42:06He should be 17 or 18 right now.
42:09He's gonna beat him in this race.
42:1216, 17.
42:14I mean, I honestly couldn't, I didn't believe it.
42:17Even in, like, after, you know, we did the Lombardi and the confetti.
42:21Like, I still didn't believe it.
42:24That's stuff you see in a movie.
42:25Thank you, baby.
42:26Don't give up.
42:27Keep fighting.
42:27But to actually live something that special, like, you just, you just don't, you don't
42:36ever, you don't ever picture yourself in that situation.
42:38You gotta believe!
42:43Yeah, it was a hell of a story.
42:48Joey runs by the bear, catches the ball over the eagle, jumps and flies high, diving towards
42:54the goal line, touchdown.
42:59Man, that was one hell of a story.
43:02The end.
43:04Gotta believe.
43:06You gotta believe!
