00:00In terms of how they got here, Greg Bedard starts with Vrabel and then goes from there.
00:03Where do you start?
00:04Yeah, I mean, not unsurprisingly, I think this is a continuation of just a philosophical difference that Greg Bedard and I have.
00:11It doesn't mean one of us is right and one is wrong or that somebody's behaving in a way that they shouldn't.
00:17No, Chris, you're right and Greg is wrong.
00:19I didn't say that.
00:21That was Jimmy that said that.
00:22I start with Drake May.
00:23I start with Drake May as the quarterback, as a 23-year-old being asked to do some of the things he's being asked to do in the Josh McDaniel system.
00:33And I do think they've tweaked it.
00:34And I do think this offense is a hybrid of some of Josh's stuff and some of the stuff that Vrabel wanted.
00:42And they've done a good job, as coaches should do, of taking advantage of what Drake May does well.
00:46But when you look at Drake May, there's some times this year that he's had to throw the cape on and really carry this offense.
00:53And I'm not sure that people thought, even though I thought he was the guy, I didn't think he could play this well this soon.
01:01And when you look at the prior three years with the Patriots, particularly the last two, one of the biggest issues was their inability to score enough points to win games.
01:10And Drake May, I think, is the one that has changed that.
01:13You've got some of the plays he's made, you go to the Buffalo game, some of the plays he made against New Orleans, even going back to Miami.
01:20And look, he's not out there alone, but he is elevating the group of players he's out there with, with the exception of Stephon Diggs.
01:28So I start with Drake May because I think it starts with the quarterback and him exceeding expectations.
01:34And look, does the coaching staff deserve some credit for the development of Drake May?
01:38Yeah, absolutely.
01:39Absolutely, they deserve some of that credit.
01:41But I'm just sort of over the idea of coaches absolutely making players that have the talent level of a Drake May.
01:50Yes, there are systems that can do it.
01:51You know, you look at what Kyle Shanahan's doing with Mac Jones.
01:54I'll give Kyle Shanahan that credit.
01:56But this, no, this is mostly the player.
