A retired soldier's death in Karnataka's Belagavi district has taken a dramatic turn after a selfie video allegedly recorded by the prime accused surfaced online, making fresh claims about the alleged murder conspiracy.

Police have arrested the victim's wife, Suma Manjargi, and her alleged lover, Pundalik Dombar, accusing them of murdering former soldier Sandeep Manjargi to claim a ₹2 crore insurance payout.

According to investigators, the case was uncovered after a dispute over sharing the insurance money allegedly prompted Pundalik to reveal details of the crime. Authorities later exhumed Sandeep's body for a second post-mortem, with samples sent for forensic analysis.

In the viral selfie video, Pundalik makes several allegations about the planning of the crime and the events leading to Sandeep's death. Police, however, have not officially verified the claims and are treating the footage as part of the ongoing investigation.

Investigators have also detained two more individuals over alleged attempts to tamper with forensic evidence, while officials continue to probe the alleged conspiracy, financial motive and other aspects of the case.
