00:00From July 1st, bank customers can withdraw cash from any ATM or smart recycler machine
00:06without paying the RM1 interbank fee.
00:09The move involving all banks nationwide will allow debit card holders
00:14to make unlimited free withdrawals and more than 14,000 machines nationwide.
00:19In a joint statement today, the Association of Banks in Malaysia,
00:23the Association of Islamic Banking and Financial Institutions Malaysia
00:27and the Association of Development and Finance Institutions of Malaysia
00:31said the waiver reflects the industry's commitment to reliable, convenient and affordable access.
00:38They added it will also help ease the people's financial burden.
00:42The association said the initiative is part of broader efforts
00:46to promote more customer-centric banking services and reduce costs for consumers.
00:52They also highlighted the growing use of digital and cashless payments,
00:56saying banks will continue to enhance secure and seamless electronic options
01:01as Malaysia moves towards a more digital economy.
