00:05the soap opera continues we got the latest on what's going on with larkin with some
00:12quotes from insiders around the league let's do it
00:16all right john we start with pierre lebrun
00:21always love it when you say that name yes good french canadian hockey insider with
00:25the athletic been doing this for years people know the name and he's got a scoop
00:29he writes in the athletic that the process with larkin and eiserman has been respectful
00:36and that eiserman approached larkin about expanding the list okay sounds like that list is set to
00:44expand um well i like the fact that there are at least able to have communications back and forth
00:51whether it's eiserman with larkin eiserman with the agent that's a probably more of what i expect it
00:57to be i don't know that dylan larkin is going to be a lot of those conversations um and so
01:03that
01:04it's there is a respect back and forth respect that he's requested the trade respect that hey i
01:12understand you need to have more than three teams so now i'll go to plan b i will give you
01:18a couple
01:19more teams lebrun writes one might think that the red wings general manager steve eiserman is
01:24spitting mad at this request but my understanding is he's kept an even keel and has kept in constant
01:31communication with larkin's agent pat brisson as they are working through this in a respectful
01:36manner uh goes on to say that eiserman went back and asked to expand their original list of teams my
01:41sense is they were receptive to some of that so i don't think we're just dealing with the wild
01:45knights and panthers anymore i would expect that steve eiserman no one like i don't know him
01:55individually i know him but what i saw as a player and he was fiery as a general manager yes
02:02there's
02:03going to be hey excitement there's going to be disappointment but he seems to be in very even
02:09keeled don't let my emotions affect decision making and what is going to be best for me and making the
02:16decisions so i i'm not surprised that it's been respectful okay so if this list is going to grow
02:24who might be on the list elliot friedman 32 thoughts podcast mentions that there's a couple other cities
02:55okay so again i mean you know some of the top contenders but you start to get down the list
03:01and again i think we all expect that if he is demanding a trade he doesn't want to go to
03:07a team
03:08that's not going to be contending yeah it has to be a team that was in the playoffs and has
03:13a chance
03:14to make a real run at the stanley cup tampa is interesting that that would be on the list because
03:19are there still relationships that eiserman has there where he can maximize a return let me scratch
03:28your back you scratch mine on dallas it's funny i want to go back a second pure lebrun did mention
03:34dallas as well not as a team that's on the list for sure but as a a situation where you
03:40know they
03:40have jason robertson who's a pending free agent restricted free agent and if they can't come to
03:45terms could he be used as a major chip in a larkin trade and i mean he's the one that
03:51we had talked
03:52about possibly being the wings golf um you know in regards to hey let's let's see if if we can
04:00rekindle something that happened a few years ago let's see if we can get some magic here in detroit
04:05and maybe that's a that eventually could be a win for for eiserman jeff merrick has some insight this
04:12is a who's who it's like every hockey insider's got something to add to the story uh on his podcast
04:17he mentioned a team that no one else had mentioned yet in connection with dylan larkin
04:37utah
04:38oh
04:49utah is interesting um they made the playoffs last year they have a good prospect pool yeah but i find
04:56it hard to believe that dylan larkin would go from original six to an ea sports generated utah mammoth
05:06hockey club but if he's open to salt lake city they could they could put together the best package
05:14for the red wings of any of the teams mentioned yeah but they probably could and i think what's
05:19going to be interesting about it is there are going to be teams that approach the wings they may not
05:28be
05:28on the list and maybe it's like we're hearing about utah and there's a whole lot of these guys that
05:33and i i'm hearing utah i'm hearing dallas and i'm hearing tampa okay where are you hearing it from
05:40right and you're never going to you know hear a who that is because everybody wants to protect their
05:47sources but are they just hearing it basically passing it back from friedman to merrick
05:53and and are they getting it from lebrun is it coming from larkin's camp is it coming from
05:59iserman's camp is it coming from like to your point just chatter amongst themselves oh hey i
06:05i think this would make sense and then the game of telephone gets lost and all of a sudden utah's
06:09on the list i was a little surprised to hear their name um if they were in they have a
06:15couple guys who
06:16are elite level prospects again emphasizing prospects but guys they picked in the top 10
06:22one is jeroma ginla's kid still a teenager hasn't even played in the ahl and then they got a young
06:27center they took in the top five last season same deal hasn't even made it to the ahl but those
06:33are
06:33guys with thought to be first line upside right and this is where and it okay let's go back and
06:41kind
06:41of you know tie all of these strings and bows together where eiserman is being respectful
06:48and and it sounds like larkin and his agent are being respectful hey this we want to trade
06:53here's our three teams oh okay well okay we'll start expanding that list there are going to be teams
06:59that aren't on that list or the expanded list they're going to approach eiserman and say well if
07:05you can convince him here's what we're willing to to give up but because of the lack of emotion
07:12that steve eiserman is inserting into this situation i do think there is a situation where
07:20hey i i i've gone about this in a professional manner we can't get anything that is good for the
07:29wings in a trade for you with these teams would you be interested in let's say utah because they came
07:37to us right we would do this trade but you have to okay it and if dylan says no i
07:44somebody could
07:45present it as you you do this trade and you get out of detroit if you don't then who knows
07:52i need
07:52you here in detroit yeah i also wonder so kosa's name has come up quite a bit i believe utah's
07:58been
07:59a team that has been mentioned is that where the ball starts where hey we're interested in kosa
08:03by the way is can you throw in larkin throw in larkin is there a bigger deal that and maybe
08:09that's where the reporting stems from we don't know if that's reciprocated from either side larkin
08:15or eiserman but i could see that being where the conversation started where they go look kosa by the
08:19way people are missing this he's not considered a blue chip prospect if he's been in the system for
08:24years and detroit would potentially not have him on the roster next season teams are circling trying
08:31to get kosa right and and whether or not he's a part of the larkin trade i think kosa is
08:37going to
08:37be a part of a trade i don't think he's in the red wings organization next year yeah i believe
08:42he's
08:42waiver eligible so if he wasn't on the team you'd be exposing him so that's i think why his name
08:45comes
08:46up yeah in some of these trade talks so there's the latest all the hockey insiders talking about
08:51dylan larkin it's 97 one
08:54you
