00:03it's two deadlines ago dylan larkin steve get us some help
00:10that summer steve got to the podium and said montreal didn't add they made the playoffs
00:15it's on you dude kind of verbally slapped his hand and it's the sign of many things that have
00:21apparently been frosty between the two eiserman adds at this deadline and they still don't make
00:27it exactly okay so who's it on right well that's our question who looks worse than this larkin or
00:32eiserman your hometown captain wants out you can say oh he's soft i would argue he's given the most
00:43of his prime to this organization and they haven't even made the playoffs the fact that he wants out
00:47just said it his his best years and he can't get them to the playoffs and so it's on him
00:54i'm not
00:56saying it's on him it's on both you can't you can't i don't think you can just say it well
01:00it's
01:00100 steve eiserman it's 100 dylan larkin there's fault on both sides right so the question is who
01:05is it moron and i i think it's a bigger indictment on eiserman everybody's here because he signed
01:10drafted or extended them his team collectively falters one of the few good players on the team
01:19is not the problem larkin's a good hockey player we can get into is he good great somewhere in between
01:24he's got five straight 30 goal seasons he's an x factor on team usa he plays 200 feet he plays
01:30two
01:30ways he's one of the few good players they have and it's his fault how about you should have more
01:36good players seven years in a decade in since he made the playoffs i don't disagree with that on
01:42on eiserman than it is larkin but he's when you're supposed to be the captain are you making those
01:50around you better did he make lucas raymond better this season raymond had a step back
01:56there's no question he had a step back and some of that's just on no i'm saying some of it's
02:00on
02:00lucas raymond yeah some of it's on eiserman you know some of it's on the coaching staff some of
02:05it's on the leader of your team of you've got to make those around you better that's why you're
02:10the leader of the team who was larkin's other line mate for most of the year he had lucas raymond
02:14on
02:14the one break it no to bring it played a lot with cane yeah his other line mate was a
02:19seventh
02:19rounder and emmett finney who most people thought hey kind of a surprisingly good season from a seventh
02:23rounder why is the seventh rounder skating on the top line seven years into the eiser plan i mean if
02:30i'm larkin i'm like yeah sorry i didn't put up 80 points or 90 points or 100 points i've got
02:36a kid
02:36from from from down the street playing on the team some players do outplay their draft status
02:46sure but a rookie seventh rounder was playing on their top line this season if i'm dylan larkin i'm
02:51going hey dude enough's enough i'll call you on your bs i'm not doing your forever rebuild and while
02:56people want to make him out to be soft i actually give him credit for this he's gonna he's gonna
02:59lose
02:59people in his hometown but he says enough's enough i'm gonna call you out for your forever rebuild your
03:04failed eiser plan the feather in the cap of dylan larkin is what his olympic teammates talked about
03:10yep in regards to you know he made us better and chuck raved about dylan larkin right he was a
03:18fourth
03:18liner on that team though they need you need those kind of players on that kind of team to win
03:22you need grit on an all-star team yeah so you're saying dylan larkin's a gritty hockey player i i
03:27would
03:27say that he's different than the soft narrative the two-way aspect of his game so he is a player
03:34who plays hard in all areas of the ice yeah okay he's try hard guy again jim is he a
03:40point
03:40a game per player you're like you're putting him on the pedestal of other players in this league that
03:45he's not john you asked the question and i love the listeners yeah is he good enough to demand a
03:50trade
03:50i think barely right and so but but when i asked that question i don't want to sit here and
03:57bash dylan
03:58larkin and say he's not a good player that's not what it's about but there's certain level that you
04:04get to there's a certain cachet that you have a certain status where you walk into the gm's office
04:10and you say i i'm demanding a trade and everybody goes oh boy i just don't know that everybody went
04:18oh boy when dylan larkin requested the trade or his agent or whoever in his camp requested the trade
04:24i'm not trying to build him up more than he is before last season he was a consensus top 15
04:29center
04:30in hockey you could disagree with it i'm not the one making it up i'm not the one making it
04:36up jim
04:36i've watched a lot of hockey in my life the guy's a good player he's not a great player i
04:41think he's
04:41a borderline low-end all-star player he's just okay he's just good i i would i keep coming back
04:48to
04:49his name in another sport he's dak prescott i mean you know it's tom i don't even want to i
04:55don't
04:55even want to fight you on this i'm not even saying he's great i'm just saying you need more good
04:58players one of your few good players says dude you're you're you're not doing the job you're
05:02putting a bad product on the ice i put more of this on eiserman i know i'm coming across as
05:05defending i'm not at all this is actually more on eiserman but part of that answer is he committed
05:10to the wrong guy i truly believe that in my heart right and i i agree with what you're saying
05:16i'm
05:17i don't want to sit here and defend eiserman because it's been way too long in the eyes are
05:22playing and you're jim you're right there's not enough good players we said that at the end of
05:26the year you're not enough good players we said that when we were watching the first round of the
05:31stanley cup you know playoffs like if the wings had made it in those teams were playing a different
05:37brand of hockey and then there was just no way that the wings could elevate to match the intensity
05:45that we saw through the end of the season all of a sudden they're going to flip a switch no
05:49they
05:49didn't have that switch to flip that's why they faltered in march when other teams raised their
05:55level of play i think the most true statement in all of this is eiserman couldn't build a winner
05:59with dylan larkin on the roster and that statement can be twisted to whichever camp you're in
06:06right eiserman could not produce a winner with dylan larkin here
06:12you could choose to say it's because dylan larkin's a loser i think dylan larkin's going
06:17to end up winning a bunch of hockey games for a good team next season i think it says more
06:22about
06:22eiserman but does he win a whole bunch of games with a good team because of they added dylan larkin
06:28well because it's just a good team and they've got better players but you build a good team by
06:33collecting good players and eiserman hasn't collected enough good players i mean this is the chicken or the
06:37egg argument that we're having right now my point is i think a gm who put good players around dylan
06:42larkin would win more hockey games but the gm here in this city hasn't done that and i think it's
06:47a
06:47bigger indictment on eiserman and i know i'm going to come across as a dylan bot i know he's got
06:51his
06:51flaws i openly discussed should he have the c yeah and i angered people at the time with that comment
06:56i don't think he's a perfect leader far from it
07:03248-539-9797 and i i will throw the olive branch out to red wing fans who say we just
07:09needed a shake
07:09up and this is how we arrived to that conclusion i think there's a super big world today where a
07:16lot
07:16of people and we're seeing it on text i'm mad at both of them sure i am i think the
07:21answer can be
07:22both when you try to put the blame on there's no question it's both well but but the question is
07:27and well i'll steal a line from from carson anderson where's your 51 eiserman yeah i think
07:34everybody would probably say eiserman because dylan larkin is a good player and there aren't
07:39enough good players and if you're one of your really good players demands a trade and you're
07:47trying to get better year over year how do they get better next year well i think that's the
07:51conversations that we're probably had as much as eiserman said dude i need more from you larkin probably
07:55said okay what's your grandiose plan and if the response was all right steve like i'm 30 this
08:02summer you got most of my prime if i'm getting a lot of gobbledygook soft serve nonsense from you
08:08i can't trust you to actually upgrade this hockey team i think it's best if i move on
08:14we're we're late for time we'll get calls next you guys have a lot to say on it 97-1
08:19you
08:19you
08:19you
08:19you
