Transcript
00:01Good evening, you're watching India First.
00:03I'm Gaurav Savant.
00:05There's massive trouble for former West Bengal Chief Minister
00:08Mamata Banerjee and the Trumul Congress
00:10or what remains of the party
00:11with Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee.
00:14And this is trouble that they're facing on multiple fronts.
00:17It's being said that West Bengal Assembly
00:19where Ritabrathab Banerjee has been recognized
00:22as leader of opposition,
00:23that's just the trailer.
00:26That's perhaps like Dhurandar 1, part 1.
00:30It's now being said in Bengal,
00:32the grapevine says at least 20 members of parliament
00:36of the Trumul Congress
00:37are reportedly in touch with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
00:40The Bengal grapevine is talking about Dhurandar part 2 in Delhi.
00:47The exodus from Mamata Banerjee or Abhishek Banerjee's TMC,
00:50it continues.
00:51There's trouble for Mamata Banerjee and the Trumul Congress
00:54or those loyal to her on multiple fronts.
00:57The National Investigation Agency
00:59and I want you to look at those images
01:01on your television screens very closely.
01:03This is a counter-terror investigation
01:05that's being conducted right now.
01:07A series of searches including at the home
01:09of former Trumul Congress MLS,
01:12Shaukat Mola that's taking place in South 24 Parganaz
01:15in connection with a pre-election bomb blast
01:18that killed one person and several people were injured.
01:20While reports indicate Mola is yet to join investigations,
01:25his son has now been called in for questioning.
01:28There have been a series of searches
01:29and raids across the state.
01:33Several TMC leaders in CADA are under investigation
01:36for a number of cases.
01:37From Paritosh Dutta's arrest in the Surendranath College arms case
01:42to an extortion charge that's against leaders
01:46and multiple leaders from Prasenjit Saha
01:49to Ashish Chakrabarty, Ajit Saha.
01:52The list continues to grow.
01:54These are the leaders who are under investigation.
01:56TMC Bengal Vice President Jai Prakash Majundar
02:00was taken into custody in connection with a harassment case.
02:03Counselors Mahesh Kumar Sharma and Samrat Barua
02:06have also landed in legal trouble.
02:09Shankar Raut, he was taken into custody in a violence case.
02:12Deepankar Bhattacharya is facing scrutiny
02:14in a cash recovery case.
02:17There are investigations by the Enforcement Directorate
02:20and other agencies in connection with the teacher recruitment scam.
02:23That image that's gone absolutely viral
02:26and I want you to look at that image of termite-eaten cash
02:31and a weapon that was recovered at the prestigious Surendranath College
02:36and of course that other ration scam in Beerbhoom
02:41that's under investigation.
02:42So the big question, when there is this hue and cry,
02:47remember that massive hue and cry over Votchori in Bengal,
02:52was it a cover to hide this, what you see on your television screen?
02:59Votchori.
03:00We debate that.
03:02You look at this moth-eaten or termite-eaten currency
03:05on your television screens.
03:08Is this symbolic of the rot in our system?
03:12Also coming up on India First,
03:14the DMK has announced it will skip the upcoming India Bloc.
03:18India Alliance meeting scheduled for the 8th of June,
03:202026 in the National Capital.
03:22DMK has openly criticized the Congress Party
03:25for causing deep hurt
03:27and its betrayal.
03:29They say the Congress broke their long-standing alliance in Tamil Nadu
03:33post the 2026 Assembly election results
03:36and extended support to actor Vijay's TVK.
03:39In fact, senior DMK leader T.K. Silangowan,
03:42he went on record to say India Bloc is gone,
03:45India Bloc is over.
03:47But is that actually true or what's to that effect?
03:49DMK MP Kani Morishi wrote to the Lok Sabha speaker
03:53requesting separate seating for DMK MPs,
03:56not with the Congress Party.
03:58And then there is another big story
04:01that we want to talk about.
04:02A controversy over Sharia-compliant gymnasium in Kerala.
04:10Hijab, no music,
04:13separate timings for men and women.
04:16These rules at an Islamic-friendly gym
04:19have sparked massive uproar
04:21and there are several questions that are now being raised.
04:24Should religious preferences shape rules
04:27of a gymnasium, for example?
04:30That's a question.
04:31I mean, open space
04:32or is the gym well within its rights
04:35to have restrictions?
04:36If they want, you know,
04:38women to come at a different time,
04:39men to come at a different time,
04:41only male trainers for men
04:43and only female trainers for women
04:45and, you know, there's a dress code.
04:48Well, it's their right.
04:49Is it their right?
04:50Where does accommodation end
04:52and segregation begin?
04:54Much more coming up on India first.
04:58But first,
04:59at a time when Mamata Banerjee
05:01is battling an unprecedented internal revolt,
05:04facing questions over defections in our party,
05:07a rebellion,
05:08there's another challenge that's landed
05:10at the Tribunal Congress's doorstep.
05:12The growing probe heat
05:13in one of the,
05:15against one of the party's
05:16influential leaders,
05:18senior leaders.
05:19The National Investigation Agency
05:20today carried out searches
05:22at nine different locations
05:23linked to former TMC MLA Shaukat Mola,
05:26including at his residence in Bhangar.
05:29This was in connection
05:30to the high-profile probe
05:31into a deadly pre-poll
05:34bomb blast case.
05:35One person was killed,
05:36several people were injured.
05:37The case actually dates back
05:39to March this year,
05:40ahead of the West Bengal
05:41Assembly elections
05:42when a powerful explosion
05:43was reported
05:44in South Bamunia village
05:46in Bhangar.
05:48Prove agencies believe
05:49that these crude bombs
05:51were being manufactured
05:52and stored at a location
05:54known to the leader,
05:57raising serious questions
05:58about the explosives network
05:59operating in this very
06:01politically sensitive region.
06:03The controversy became
06:03so significant
06:04that the probe
06:05was eventually handed over
06:07to the National Investigation Agency.
06:09So why is Shaukat Mola
06:11facing this hate?
06:13The former MLA remains
06:14one of the most influential
06:15political figures
06:16in Bhangar,
06:17was one of TMC's key faces
06:19in the constituency
06:20during recent elections.
06:21Sources say the NIA
06:22is examining possible links,
06:24local networks
06:25and a chain of events
06:26surrounding this blast.
06:27But the former MLA
06:28is not the only one
06:30facing investigations
06:31or investigation heat.
06:33Yesterday,
06:34a team of the
06:35Enforcement Directorate
06:36visited Thirmul Congress
06:38Member of Parliament
06:39and former General Secretary
06:41Abhishek Banerjee.
06:42They visited his residence
06:44in Kolkata
06:44and pasted summons there,
06:47delivered summons there,
06:48asking him to appear
06:48for questioning
06:49on the 15th of June
06:51in connection
06:51to the primary teacher's
06:53recruitment scam.
06:54This case is part of
06:55a wider recruitment scam
06:56investigation
06:57that has already led
06:58to multiple arrests,
06:59asset attachments
07:00and prolonged probes
07:01by central agencies.
07:02In fact,
07:03you would remember
07:03an image that had gone
07:04absolutely viral
07:05with wards of currency notes
07:07recovered
07:08at the location
07:10of an individual
07:12very close
07:13to a senior TMC leader.
07:14The ED has already
07:15attached assets
07:16worth 700 crore rupees
07:19including land,
07:20flat,
07:21villas
07:21in connection
07:22with the teacher
07:22recruitment scam.
07:23Multiple TMC leaders
07:25including former
07:25State Education Minister
07:27Partha Chatterjee
07:28have been taken
07:29into custody
07:30in connection
07:30with this case.
07:32That's where
07:32someone very close
07:34to him
07:34wards of currency notes
07:36almost like a pile
07:37of currency notes
07:37were recovered.
07:38So why is BIPO
07:39facing the heat?
07:40Probe agencies
07:41suspect that
07:42beneficiaries of this
07:43alleged recruitment racket
07:44may have gained
07:45financially
07:46from this scam.
07:47Watch those images
07:49on your television screen.
07:50The Enforcement Directorate
07:51is probing whether
07:52there's any link
07:53between the proceeds
07:54of crime
07:55and individuals
07:56connected with
07:57the Trinamool Congress.
07:58They want to establish
07:59a money trail.
08:00And then
08:00there is that curious
08:02case of that
08:02mysterious cash recovery
08:03from a Kolkata college.
08:05I want you to look
08:05at those images.
08:07The prestigious
08:08Surendranath College
08:08in central Kolkata.
08:10So workers
08:10were carrying out
08:11routine pre-monsoon
08:12cleaning drive
08:13when they stumbled
08:14upon two old
08:15suitcases tucked away
08:16inside an Elmera
08:17in the Students' Union
08:18office.
08:20Watch those images.
08:22Bundles of currency notes
08:23inside two suitcases
08:24partially eaten
08:26by termites.
08:28They were recovered
08:29from these suitcases.
08:30Preliminary estimates
08:30suggest
08:31it's a large sum.
08:33We will wait
08:34for an official confirmation
08:35of the exact amount.
08:37The BJP
08:38is alleging corruption
08:39and demanding
08:40a thorough investigation.
08:41They claim
08:41the cash recovered
08:42was linked
08:43with the Trinamool Congress
08:45Chhatra Parishad
08:47with the students' wing
08:48of the TMC
08:48because the college union
08:49has long been
08:51associated with TMC
08:53backed students' groups
08:54but that's a matter
08:55of investigation.
08:57I want you to look
08:59at these images
08:59very closely
09:01because these images
09:01have gone viral
09:02across the country.
09:04I want you to see them
09:06full frame
09:07for a second.
09:09Termite
09:09eaten
09:10currency notes
09:13recovered from
09:14this prestigious
09:15Surendranath College
09:16in Central Kolkata.
09:17Why should a college
09:19students' union room
09:20have two bags
09:21full of currency notes?
09:24Does this symbolize
09:25the rot
09:26in our system?
09:29I have Satyendra Singh,
09:31former Deputy Director of
09:32Enforcement Directorate, joining
09:33me on the show. Shikha
09:35Mukherjee is a senior
09:36journalist, joins us on
09:37the show. Toohin
09:38Singh as the national
09:39spokesperson of the BJP.
09:40Charan Singh as national
09:41spokesperson of the
09:43Congress Party.
09:43They all join me
09:44on the show
09:44but first I want
09:45to cut across
09:46to Dr. Shantanu Sen
09:48who joins us
09:49on the show.
09:50Dr. Sen
09:50is former Rajya Sabha MP.
09:52He's quit the
09:53Trimul Congress
09:54as its national spokesperson.
09:56Dr. Sen,
09:57welcome.
09:58You've been in Rajya Sabha.
10:00You've been the
10:00national spokesperson
10:01of the Trimul Congress.
10:03What made you
10:04put in your papers,
10:05sir?
10:05Why have you quit?
10:08Well, good evening.
10:09First of all,
10:10when I was
10:11using my designation
10:12as national spokesperson,
10:14I used to have
10:15certain compulsion
10:16to defend my party
10:17even during
10:19several odd situations.
10:21I would like
10:21to remind you
10:22when crores
10:24and crores
10:24of rupees
10:25were being recovered
10:26from the room
10:28of the girlfriend
10:29of one of our
10:30former minister,
10:32cabinet minister
10:32of our state
10:33of West Bengal,
10:34at that point of time
10:35I was live
10:36in one particular
10:37TV show
10:38which is a very
10:39popular show
10:39in Bengal.
10:41but though
10:41my consent,
10:42my inner soul
10:43didn't give me
10:44the consent
10:45but as I was
10:46the spokesperson
10:47of my party
10:48at that point
10:49of time
10:49I had no other
10:51way than to defend.
10:52In several
10:53such occasions
10:54I tried my best
10:55to defend my party
10:56as a spokesperson
10:57though I was not
10:58getting consent
10:59from my inner soul,
11:01from my family mates,
11:02from other colleagues
11:03of the society.
11:05But finally,
11:07why I was doing so?
11:09because as a politician
11:11the politician
11:12should work
11:13for the people
11:13at large.
11:14So we tried
11:15to convince
11:15the common people
11:16in our way
11:17but finally
11:18when on 4th of May
11:202026
11:21the public mandate
11:23went hugely
11:24against us
11:25then I realized
11:26now there is
11:29no way
11:29to defend
11:30all these
11:31nuisances,
11:32all these
11:32ill-doings
11:32of my party
11:33before the
11:34common people
11:35at large
11:35through the media.
11:36that's why
11:37in giving
11:38response to my
11:40inner soul
11:41I decided
11:43to quit
11:43from the post
11:44of national
11:44spokesperson
11:45and that's
11:46why I withdrew
11:47and that's
11:48why I gave
11:48a resignation letter
11:49from the post
11:50of national
11:51spokesperson.
11:51Sir, I want
11:52you to look
11:53at these
11:53images of
11:54that termite
11:55eaten currency
11:56recovered
11:57from a
11:58college
11:58students union
12:00room.
12:01Now, this
12:02termite
12:02eaten currency
12:03does this
12:04reflect the
12:04rot in the
12:05system
12:06and of course
12:06the wards of
12:08currency notes
12:09that were
12:09recovered
12:09from
12:10the friend
12:11or an
12:12associate
12:12of the
12:13former
12:13education
12:14minister
12:14and he
12:15was subsequently
12:16arrested
12:16and I
12:17remember you
12:18defending
12:18the
12:19Trinambul
12:19congress
12:19then
12:20but tell
12:20me sir
12:21what goes
12:22through your
12:22minds
12:22when you
12:22see this
12:23termite
12:23eaten
12:24currency
12:24recovered
12:25now?
12:26Yeah,
12:26definitely
12:27it's nothing
12:27new.
12:28It's nothing
12:29new.
12:30Rather,
12:31it is a
12:31later edition
12:32of the
12:33previous
12:35video
12:36shown in
12:36the media
12:36during the
12:37recovery of
12:38crores and
12:39crores of
12:39rupees from
12:40the house
12:40of a
12:40girlfriend
12:40of a
12:41former
12:41minister.
12:42But let
12:43me tell
12:43you one
12:44thing.
12:44It's not
12:45that Dr.
12:46Shantanu
12:46Hussein is
12:47raising his
12:48voice after
12:48the miserable
12:49defeat of
12:50Trinambul
12:50congress
12:51after the
12:52Himalayan
12:53victory of
12:53Bharatiya
12:54Janata
12:54Party on
12:544th of
12:55May.
12:55Now I
12:56am a
12:57former
12:57member of
12:57parliament
12:58as we
12:58addressed.
12:59But in
12:59the year
13:002023-24
13:01when I
13:02was a
13:03sitting
13:03member of
13:04parliament
13:04from
13:05Trinambul
13:05congress
13:05in the
13:06Rajya
13:06Shava,
13:07even at
13:07that point
13:08of time
13:08while working
13:10as a
13:10chairperson
13:11of
13:11Rogi
13:11Kalan
13:11Shwamity
13:12of
13:12Arjikar
13:12Medical
13:13College,
13:13when I
13:14found that
13:15huge corruption
13:16has taken
13:17place in
13:17that particular
13:18college,
13:19being inside
13:20the party,
13:20I rose my
13:21voice and
13:22I submitted
13:23all the
13:24documents to
13:25the highest
13:26authority of
13:26the government
13:27and the
13:27highest authority
13:28of the
13:28leader with
13:29this idea
13:30that they
13:30will take
13:31a note of
13:31it and
13:32they will
13:32investigate.
13:33But what I
13:34have seen,
13:35instead of
13:35giving justice,
13:37those accused
13:38were given
13:38price posting
13:39and as I
13:40raised the
13:40voice,
13:41I was removed
13:42from that
13:42particular post.
13:43Later on,
13:44during
13:44Avaya
13:44incident,
13:45once again,
13:46though I
13:47was MP at
13:47that point
13:48of time,
13:49though my
13:49wife,
13:50Dr.
13:50Kakulishen,
13:51was sitting
13:52corporator of
13:53Calcutta
13:53Municipal
13:54Corporation,
13:55being inside
13:55the party,
13:56we protested
13:57and we
13:58demanded
13:59justice for
14:00Avaya and
14:01that's why I
14:02was suspended
14:03from my
14:04party for
14:0414 consecutive
14:05months.
14:06So it's not
14:07that I am
14:07raising the
14:08voice for the
14:09first time,
14:09but unfortunately,
14:11the way my
14:11only daughter's
14:12life was made
14:13miserable,
14:14the way she
14:15was threatened
14:16and finally I
14:17was told if
14:18you move
14:18further,
14:19we will see
14:20how your
14:21daughter can
14:21be a doctor
14:22and this
14:24nexus run
14:25by Dr.
14:26S.P.
14:27Das,
14:27an orthopedic
14:27surgeon and
14:28close associate
14:29of former
14:30minister of
14:30West Bengal,
14:31he used to
14:32run this
14:33threat culture
14:34and this
14:34huge racket
14:35in the
14:36health sector,
14:37they used to
14:37threaten each
14:38and everyone.
14:38Sir,
14:39I request you
14:39not to name
14:40individuals because
14:41I cannot
14:42independently verify
14:43it,
14:43the gentleman
14:44is not here
14:44to defend
14:45himself,
14:46India today
14:46is not
14:47taking that
14:48name,
14:48I request
14:49you to keep
14:49names of
14:50individuals who
14:50are not here
14:51presently,
14:51out of this
14:52but did
14:53the RG
14:53car,
14:54you know,
14:55the manner
14:56in which
14:56that case
14:57was handled
14:58and the
14:59entire nation
15:00thought that
15:00Mamata Banerji
15:01is a lady,
15:02she is a
15:03woman,
15:04it would be
15:04handled very
15:04sympathetically,
15:05did that
15:07break you
15:07and your
15:07family from
15:08within the
15:08manner in
15:09which it
15:09was handled
15:10by the
15:11government,
15:11sir,
15:12by the
15:12Mamata Banerji
15:13government?
15:14Let me
15:15cite an
15:15example of
15:16sympathetic
15:17handling.
15:18Sir,
15:19minus any
15:19names is
15:20my request,
15:20sir,
15:20go on,
15:20sir.
15:21I got
15:21it.
15:22After the
15:23horrific
15:24incident,
15:24horrible
15:25incident of
15:25Hawaii,
15:26the whole
15:27world pointed
15:28towards the
15:30Diden
15:30principal of
15:31RGCOR
15:31Medical College,
15:32as you
15:32said,
15:33I am not
15:33naming him,
15:35but unfortunately
15:36our Diden
15:37chief minister
15:38come health
15:39minister,
15:40instead of
15:41suspending him
15:42at the very
15:43early stage,
15:44he has some
15:45sympathy towards
15:46him and he
15:47was made the
15:48principal of
15:49another medical
15:50college instead
15:50of suspending
15:52him.
15:52That is the
15:53example how
15:54this RGCOR issue
15:55was handled,
15:57how the
15:58documents were
16:00removed,
16:01how hooliganism
16:02took place on
16:0314th of August
16:04night by the
16:06indulgence of the
16:07highest authority
16:08of the party,
16:09of the government,
16:10under the
16:10leadership of
16:11the then local
16:12MLA.
16:12Each and
16:13everyone has
16:14witnessed this,
16:14but as I
16:16rose my
16:17voice,
16:17I was
16:18suspended for
16:1914 months
16:20and my
16:21daughter's life
16:21was made
16:22miserable and
16:23finally when I
16:24was certain
16:25that my
16:26daughter will
16:26not be allowed
16:27to pass this
16:28final MBBS,
16:29she won't be
16:30given the
16:31final MBBS
16:32completion certificate,
16:33then I had no
16:34other way than
16:35to remain silent.
16:36And this was
16:37when you were
16:38a TMC MP,
16:40your wife is
16:40a TMC leader
16:41and this was
16:42being told to
16:43you within the
16:44TMC when you
16:45were part of,
16:46when you were
16:46such a powerful
16:47family within
16:48the Thirmul
16:49Congress.
16:49But explain
16:50this to me,
16:50sir, you're
16:52now with the
16:52Ritabrata
16:53Banerjee,
16:55you know,
16:55TMC which
16:57everybody in
16:57your team is
16:58calling the
16:59real TMC or
17:00asli TMC.
17:01Don't you think
17:01that Mamata
17:02Banerjee sees
17:03all this?
17:03Did she not
17:04want to reform
17:05the party?
17:06And why
17:07was Abhishek
17:08Banerjee
17:08permitted to
17:09run the
17:10party in
17:10the manner
17:10in which
17:11he wanted?
17:13I will
17:13answer your
17:14question in
17:14two folds.
17:15First of
17:16all,
17:16whenever you
17:17are getting
17:17defeated by
17:18the public
17:19mandate,
17:19you have to
17:20accept that
17:21mandate.
17:21When you
17:22are winning,
17:23you are
17:23saying,
17:24yes, I am
17:25accepting the
17:25public mandate.
17:26And when
17:27you are getting
17:27defeated,
17:28you are saying,
17:29no, I am not
17:30defeated, I am
17:31not ready to
17:31accept the
17:32public mandate.
17:33That is not
17:33done.
17:34That's why
17:35the natural
17:36decay could
17:37have taken
17:37six months
17:38time.
17:38But see, the
17:40voting has not
17:41yet disappeared
17:42from the
17:42fingers.
17:43But that
17:43particular party
17:44is going to
17:45disappear, going
17:46to become
17:46non-existent.
17:47You think
17:49Trinamul will
17:49become extinct?
17:50It will
17:51disappear?
17:53One more
17:53second.
17:54Now, in
17:55democracy, it
17:56is the number
17:56which matters.
17:58As BJP, after
17:59getting 208
18:01seats, they are
18:02into the power.
18:03Similarly, these
18:0460 MLAs out of
18:0580 elected
18:06MLAs of
18:07Trinamul Congress,
18:08they assembled
18:08together, they
18:10followed all the
18:11formalities of the
18:12parliamentary politics,
18:13all the
18:14procedures, of
18:15the assembly
18:15procedures, and
18:17they went
18:18together physically
18:19to meet the
18:20honourable speaker.
18:21It's not that
18:22that one sign has
18:23been signed by
18:24another one, and
18:25they placed their
18:26demand, and as
18:28per the rules and
18:28regulations, the
18:29honourable speaker has
18:30given the sanction
18:34that, yes, this is
18:35the principal
18:36opposition.
18:36So, so far, the
18:38parliamentary procedure
18:39is concerned.
18:40So far, the
18:40assembly procedure
18:41is concerned.
18:42I have done, I
18:43think that it has
18:44been done meticulously
18:45maintaining the
18:46procedure.
18:47So, Dr.
18:48Sen, there is
18:48speculation that
18:50this rebellion or
18:52the new faction of
18:53the TMC, this
18:54could actually spread
18:56to parliament.
18:57There are reports
18:58suggesting that there
18:59are multiple TMC
19:00MPs, by some
19:01accounts more than
19:0120, already in
19:02touch with the
19:03BJP.
19:04How serious, in
19:05your view, is this
19:06threat of the
19:06split of TMC in
19:08parliament?
19:09And what would it
19:09mean for the TMC
19:10nationally then,
19:11sir?
19:14I think there is
19:16every possibility of
19:17the same because,
19:18just imagine,
19:19earlier, whenever
19:21Madam Mamata
19:21Benerji is such a
19:22tall leader, when
19:24she used to be on
19:25the road, lakhs
19:26and lakhs of
19:27people used to
19:28follow her.
19:29When she used to
19:30convene a meeting,
19:32people become,
19:33like, jealous if
19:35anyone is not
19:36getting the call
19:36from her office.
19:37Now, whenever she
19:38is convening
19:39a meeting, not
19:40even 10% of the
19:41elected MLAs are
19:42going to the
19:43meeting.
19:43Not even 10% of the
19:45elected members of
19:46parliament are going
19:47to attend the
19:47meeting.
19:48When she is coming
19:49on the road in the
19:50Y channel on
19:51Rani Rashmoni
19:52Avenue, hardly 3,
19:544 MLAs and hardly
19:553, 4 MPs are going
19:56to associate her.
19:57This proves the
19:59miserable and
20:00horrible situation of
20:01the Trinomul
20:02Congress and I
20:03believe if she
20:04would have accepted
20:05the public mandate
20:06on 4th of May,
20:07yes, there might
20:08be several questions
20:10regarding the
20:10election procedure,
20:12regarding the
20:12counting procedure.
20:14Courts are there,
20:15High Court is there,
20:16Supreme Court is
20:17there, but I think
20:18she would have
20:19accepted the public
20:20mandate and last
20:22but not the least,
20:23like Arjikar issues,
20:24there are several
20:25corruptions in which
20:27despite having the
20:28original documents,
20:29proofs against those
20:31corruption, instead of
20:32punishing those corrupt
20:34people, they used to
20:35be given price
20:36posting and those
20:37like Dr. Shantanu
20:39Shain used to bring
20:40it to the notice of
20:41the highest authority,
20:42they used to be
20:43punished as I have
20:43been punished, as I
20:44have been suspended.
20:45That's why it has
20:47become an inevitable
20:47consequences.
20:49So Dr. Sen, is
20:50this organic, the
20:52number of people who
20:53are now joining the
20:55Asli TMC as they
20:56put it, Ritabrata
20:57Banerjee TMC or is
21:00this under pressure
21:00of the enforcement
21:02directorate or the
21:03NIA or the CBI or
21:04the state police
21:05because there are
21:06several leaders who
21:07are facing investigation
21:08if they switch
21:09loyalties, it's under
21:11pressure, isn't it,
21:12sir?
21:13See, ED was
21:15formed in 1956,
21:17CBI was formed in
21:181963.
21:19So far, my knowledge
21:21goes, they are
21:21independent
21:22organizations.
21:23They are working on
21:24their way based on
21:25complaints laws
21:26against certain
21:27persons.
21:28So, the people of
21:29India, the
21:30constitution, those
21:31who are avoiding by
21:33the constitution, I
21:35think all of them
21:35will expect that real
21:37investigation should
21:38take place against
21:39any complaint, against
21:40any corruption and
21:42if anyone is involved
21:43in that, that he or
21:44she should be brought
21:45into book.
21:46Okay.
21:47Sir, before I let you
21:48go, Mamata Banerjee
21:49and Abhishek Banerjee,
21:50we are told they are to
21:51attend this India block
21:52meeting on the 8th of
21:53June in the national
21:53capital.
21:54In your view, can the
21:57TMC realistically play
21:58a major role now in
21:59the India alliance
22:00when it's battling
22:01this internal crisis
22:02in Bengal?
22:05I think the ball has
22:06started rolling in
22:07such a way, in no
22:09time this India
22:10alliance will leave
22:11India.
22:14Can you explain
22:15that, sir?
22:17India alliance, there
22:18will be no India
22:18alliance in India.
22:22earlier, few minutes
22:23back, you are giving
22:24the explanation what
22:25is going on in
22:25Tamil Nadu, what is
22:26going on in Kerala,
22:27what has taken place
22:29in West Bengal.
22:30The real scenario
22:31is in no time, like,
22:34see, I am with
22:36Congress in India, but
22:38whenever the Congress
22:39Chief Rahul Gandhi is
22:40coming to West Bengal,
22:42I am not allowing him
22:43to organize his
22:43Bharat Jura program.
22:45This cannot be a real
22:46symbol of original
22:47India alliance.
22:48I am in India, with
22:51Congress in India, but
22:52I am going to
22:53Tripura, I am going
22:54to Goa, just to
22:55weaken Congress and
22:57just to strengthen
22:57BJP in the other
22:58way round.
22:59This cannot be the
23:00real scenario, real
23:01essence of India.
23:02That's why, in true
23:03sense, I believe, in
23:05coming days, there
23:06will be no India
23:07alliance at all, and
23:08India alliance will
23:09leave India.
23:11Dr. Shantin Hussain,
23:12for joining me here on
23:13this India First
23:13special broadcast, many
23:15thanks.
23:15I now want to throw
23:16it open for a wider
23:17discussion, and I
23:18want to bring in
23:18Charan Singh Safra of
23:20the Congress Party
23:20into this conversation.
23:22Charan Singh Safra, you
23:23heard Dr. Sen, who
23:25resigned as TMC
23:25spokesperson, he's
23:26former Rajya Sabha
23:27MP, he says he
23:28could no longer
23:29defend what he
23:30terms is the
23:31immoral act,
23:33corruption, RG
23:34car case, cash for
23:36job scam.
23:37Kakoli Ghosh
23:38Dastidar had also
23:38resigned from a key
23:39organizational post,
23:40almost saying,
23:41words to the effect,
23:4360 MLAs have
23:44defied Mamata
23:45Banerjee, they've
23:45made a group of
23:46their own.
23:47When all of this
23:48is happening,
23:49sir, will Mamata
23:50Banerjee be
23:51acceptable to the
23:51Congress Party in
23:52the India Alliance?
23:56See, Gaurav, number
23:57one, I would like to
23:58say, like Shantin
23:58Hussain was saying
23:59there will be no
24:00India gadwandan in
24:02India, I would like to
24:04say in one line,
24:04that Mungeri Lal
24:05haseel sapne
24:06dekhne ka unko
24:07adhikaar hai
24:08poori tera se.
24:09See, India Alliance
24:10is not only about
24:11TMC.
24:12There are various
24:13other parties.
24:14Let the meet
24:15happen.
24:15Let us see what
24:16constructive things
24:17are coming out of
24:18that.
24:18And as far as TMC
24:20is concerned,
24:21when there is a
24:23lawful thing going
24:24on, the law has to
24:25take its own course.
24:26If there are some
24:27corruption cases,
24:28if there are some
24:30misgovernance cases
24:31against TMC, that
24:33the law is going to
24:34handle that, it is
24:35a double-engine
24:35sarkar, let them
24:36face it.
24:37Even we contested
24:38against Tirunamul
24:39Congress.
24:40We also brought in
24:41the misgovernance of
24:43Tirunamul Congress
24:44in front.
24:45But as far as what
24:46is happening now, let
24:47me tell you very
24:48frankly, the TMC
24:50tamasha going on
24:51since four, five
24:52days.
24:53You know, this is a
24:54BJP orchestrated
24:55game plan.
24:56It is a repeat of
24:57Operation Lotus which
24:58had happened in
24:59Maharashtra, with
25:00Shiv Sena, and
25:02with NCP.
25:03And similar
25:03Operation Lotus we
25:05had seen earlier in
25:06Karnataka, Madhya
25:06Pradesh, Arunachal,
25:08Goa.
25:09We have seen in all
25:10these states.
25:10But there is a
25:10difference.
25:11In those states, it
25:12was to grab power.
25:13While here, they are
25:15in power, but they
25:16want to weaken the
25:17opposition.
25:18Or they want
25:19opposition Mukt
25:20West Bengal.
25:21Now, there are two
25:22advantages to BJP
25:23for this.
25:24So, no, but those
25:2580, 60 of 80
25:27MLAs, you don't think
25:28that's opposition?
25:28But I'll come back
25:29to you to explain
25:30that to me in just
25:30a moment.
25:31But that's a very
25:32grave charge that
25:33you've levelled against
25:33Tuin Sina's party.
25:35And Tuin Sina, you
25:36must respond to this,
25:37sir, that it is a
25:38part of BJP game
25:40plan.
25:41You've done it in
25:41Maharashtra in the
25:42past.
25:43You've done it in
25:43other states in the
25:44past.
25:44It may have been to
25:45form government here.
25:46Now you're doing it
25:47for an opposition
25:47Mukt West Bengal?
25:52Well, good evening.
25:53Good evening, Gaurav.
25:54Good evening, everybody.
25:55You know, I'm
25:56surprised by the
25:57insensitivity of my
25:59friend from the
25:59Congress Party.
26:00Shantanu Sen just
26:01narrated some very
26:02harrowing incidents of
26:04high-handedness, of
26:06torture which his
26:07family had to go
26:08through.
26:09Imagine a Rajya Sabha
26:10MP had to go through
26:11that torture.
26:12And is he the only one
26:13who's talking about it?
26:15There are so many other
26:16people who are coming
26:17out in the open and
26:18talking about the
26:19goon culture which had
26:20prevailed in the TMC.
26:21So, if TMC is
26:22collapsing, it is
26:23because of the sins
26:24of its, you know,
26:26which it had
26:26perpetrated in the
26:27last 15 years.
26:28And today, it is
26:29very obvious that a
26:31shaukat mullah, a
26:33jahangir to the TMC
26:35was what at one
26:36point of time an
26:37Atik Ahmed used to
26:38be for the
26:39Samajwadi Party.
26:40What at one point of
26:41time a Muhammad
26:42Shahabudin used to
26:43be for RJD.
26:45So, I don't think the
26:46BJP has any role in
26:48the collapse.
26:48I think, you know,
26:49it's karma catching
26:51up.
26:52It's law taking its
26:53own course.
26:54We have seen, we
26:55have seen so many,
26:56you know, bomb
26:57hoard, you know,
26:58hoarding of explosives
26:59in West Bengal.
27:01We have seen
27:02illicit cash being
27:04being stocked
27:05everywhere.
27:05So, now is the
27:06time for law to
27:07catch up.
27:07And like I've said
27:08before, we don't
27:09have any attendant
27:10burdens to be nice
27:12to, we don't have
27:13any attendant burden
27:14to be the saviour of
27:15the TMC.
27:16If law has to
27:17catch up, it has to
27:18catch up quickly.
27:19Mr. Charansik, Safra
27:20wants to quickly
27:20respond.
27:21Shikamukarji and
27:22Mr. Saten, kindly
27:23permit me 30 seconds.
27:25Go on, sir, Mr.
27:25Safra.
27:26Go on, sir.
27:26Gaurav, give me 30-40
27:28seconds.
27:28I gave you one
27:29advantage of BJP
27:30that they want a
27:31weak opposition.
27:33The second advantage
27:34with BJP is
27:35AIM, is that the
27:36delimitation bill which
27:38they lost in
27:39parliament, they
27:40might, you know,
27:41again get that bill
27:42in the parliament.
27:43For that bill to
27:44pass, they need more
27:45number of member
27:46parliaments.
27:46For that very
27:47reason, they broke
27:48AIM-Aadmi Party.
27:49They took seven
27:49member parliaments
27:50from Rajya Sabha.
27:52Then they are now
27:53eyeing the TMC 29
27:55MPs in Lok Sabha
27:56and 13 member
27:57parliaments of Rajya
27:58Sabha.
27:58They want to take
27:59the maximum share
28:00so that they get
28:01a support in
28:02delimitation bill.
28:03This is the
28:04one tier
28:07point.
28:0820 seconds.
28:0820 seconds.
28:09Okay, sir.
28:12I want to respond
28:13before I bring in
28:14Sheikha Mogherjee.
28:15Go on, sir.
28:18Gaurav, you know,
28:20instead of worrying
28:21about the TMC,
28:22Mr. Sapra should be
28:24worried about the
28:24Congress Party and
28:25why these parties are
28:27collapsing are very
28:28clear.
28:28You know, the
28:29moment Congress
28:30Party forms its
28:31government in Kerala,
28:32suddenly, you know,
28:33Sharia Jims spring
28:34up.
28:35Now you have a
28:36Congress President
28:37in Karnataka, BK
28:38Hari Prasad, who is
28:39a known Pakistani
28:40apologist, who
28:41after Pehlgaam
28:42attack, went on to
28:44say that Pakistan
28:44cannot be called
28:45an enemy country.
28:46So I think the
28:47Congress Party also
28:48needs to ponder
28:49over its own issues
28:50instead of jumping
28:51in to defend TMC
28:52for no rhyme or
28:53reason.
28:53Okay, but on that
28:54delimitation point,
28:55and I'll come back
28:55to you because I
28:56have to bring in
28:56Sheikha Mogherjee
28:57and Satendra
28:59Singh into this
29:00conversation.
29:01But Sheikha Mogherjee,
29:03if a TMC
29:05Rajya Sabha
29:06MP, if
29:08he is not
29:09safe, if his
29:10wife or
29:11child who's
29:12taking MBBS
29:13exams, if they
29:14are not safe,
29:15then is it
29:16fair now
29:18to blame
29:18ED, CBI,
29:20NIA by
29:22the Mamata
29:23Banerjee
29:23loyalists that
29:24they are the
29:25reasons that
29:25these defections
29:26are taking place?
29:27or is it
29:28finally that
29:30politics of
29:31intimidation is
29:32being exposed
29:33and of course
29:33those wards of
29:35currency notes,
29:36termite-eaten
29:37currency notes,
29:38that reflects the
29:39rot in the state,
29:39ma'am?
29:41Yeah, I think
29:42that, you know,
29:43I'm happy that
29:44Shantanu
29:45has spoken out
29:46finally.
29:47The reason
29:48being that,
29:50you know,
29:50when you're in
29:51politics,
29:52there is also
29:53a responsibility,
29:56which I wish he
29:57had fulfilled
29:58while he was
29:59an MP.
30:00That would have
30:01carried much
30:01more weight.
30:02Frankly
30:03speaking,
30:04I am a
30:05little upset
30:05because when
30:07he had the
30:09power to do
30:10so, he
30:11didn't speak
30:12out.
30:13But he says
30:13he did, the
30:14moment he spoke
30:15up, his
30:16daughter was
30:16threatened that
30:17she will not
30:17pass her to
30:18MBBS exams.
30:19His wife, who
30:20is a
30:21corporator, she
30:22was in the
30:23line of fire
30:23of, as he
30:24puts it, of
30:25TMC leaders
30:26and CADA.
30:28Yeah, yeah.
30:29Well, you
30:29know, if that
30:31is the case,
30:33if that is
30:33Shantanu's
30:34case, I'm
30:35happy that he
30:36has spoken
30:36out.
30:37As I said, it
30:38is good that he
30:39has spoken
30:39out so that
30:40we have a
30:41sense of how
30:42intimidation
30:43worked.
30:44But what I
30:46am hearing
30:47is that this
30:49intimidation was
30:51across the
30:51board.
30:54And if
30:54there is
30:55across, and
30:56I remember
30:56that during
30:57the Arjikar
30:59case, there
31:00were so many
31:01people, including
31:03myself, who
31:04expressed outrage
31:06about it, the
31:08problem is that
31:10all of these
31:12people, having
31:13expressed their
31:14outrage, then
31:15scuttled back to
31:17the Trinidad
31:17Congress.
31:19That's what
31:20upsets me.
31:21Why?
31:23The Trinidad
31:24Congress is not
31:26the best of
31:27parties.
31:27this.
31:28It never
31:28was, and
31:30it wasn't
31:31so, even
31:32after it
31:32lost, when
31:34it lost the
31:34election.
31:35The problem
31:36is, why
31:37did people
31:37scuttle
31:38back?
31:40And that
31:41is a
31:42problem.
31:42But having
31:43said that,
31:44the Trinidad
31:46Congress's
31:47record of
31:50intimidation and
31:51violence goes
31:53back, not
31:54just now, but
31:56it goes back
31:57to just
31:58before 2009
32:00to 2011, when
32:02it was
32:03gaining ground
32:05in West
32:06Bengal against
32:07the Trinidad
32:08Congress.
32:09Against the
32:09left.
32:10But tell me
32:11this, ma'am,
32:12these wads of
32:13termite-eating
32:13currency rules.
32:14There were
32:15terrible incidents
32:17of violence.
32:18The media
32:19was under
32:20pressure.
32:20The media
32:21was attacked.
32:22And I
32:23remember all
32:24of this very
32:24vividly.
32:25Yes.
32:26And if
32:27you're looking
32:27at these
32:28wads of
32:28cash, it's
32:31just that
32:33there are
32:34more piles
32:35of money to
32:36be found.
32:37Yes.
32:38And will,
32:39you know,
32:40and let me
32:40bring in Mr.
32:41Satendra Singh
32:41to respond to
32:42that.
32:42Will the
32:42enforcement
32:43directorate
32:43actually
32:44find,
32:45one,
32:46these piles
32:47of cash,
32:47termite-eating
32:48cash or
32:50otherwise,
32:50and then
32:51prosecute,
32:52punish,
32:52so that
32:53those cases
32:54are taken
32:55to their
32:55logical conclusion,
32:56sir.
32:56Because the
32:57allegation is
32:58the enforcement
32:59directorate,
33:00NIA,
33:01you know,
33:02income tax
33:03department,
33:04CBI,
33:04they're all
33:05a handmaiden
33:06of the government.
33:07BJP's tactics
33:08are pressure
33:09dalti hai,
33:09BJP,
33:10to woh
33:10opposition ke
33:11khilaf jate hai,
33:12sir.
33:12Satyendra Singh,
33:13sir.

45:03But, Charan Singh Sapra, do keep in mind,
45:05when you say that Mamata Banerjee and the Congress will remain strong,
45:08and the India Alliance, do keep in mind,
45:11Mamata Banerjee actually resisted the Congress.
45:13She opposed Nitish Kumar becoming the convener of the India Bloc.
45:17She rejected seat sharing with Congress in Bengal.
45:20And this is something that had angered the India Bloc Alliance members.
45:25Suddenly, TMC is now looking to India Bloc.
45:27Will that be acceptable?
45:29That remains that big question,
45:31and we'll be tracking that story very, very closely.
45:34There's more, there's more that's coming in,
45:36and I want to quickly toss to this exclusive input that's coming in.
45:39Troubles appear to be mounting for Mamata Banerjee.
45:41She's battling this revolt within the party
45:44after the drubbing in Bengal elections.
45:46So, after 58 of 60 MLAs broke ranks,
45:49formed a separate camp,
45:51apparently there's trouble even in the parliamentary party,
45:55according to party insiders.
45:56There's buzz that a section of TMC MPs,
46:01they could be looking to exit the party.
46:04Shukendu Shekhar Roy, a veteran Trinamool Congress leader,
46:07Rajya Saba MP,
46:07and one of Didi's most trusted,
46:10once trusted leftenants,
46:11in an exclusive conversation with India Today's Indrajit Kundu,
46:15Roy said that several TMC MPs
46:17are actually considering switching over
46:20to the Bharatiya Janata Party,
46:21or words to that effect.
46:22Listen in.
46:53so the situation is going to be repeated in Bengal a few days and you don't have to wait for
47:01a few days.
47:03I said before that the party is over. The party will be disintegrated like a house of cards.
47:11And that's the same thing. That's the same thing.
47:15So how many times will this happen?
47:18What are your 29 times? How many times will this happen?
47:21No, it's 28.
47:2328?
47:24Yes, that's the same thing.
47:27What's happening? What's happening to you?
47:29Are you still in the party?
47:32Majority.
47:38This is a big assumption.
47:39Majority will be going?
47:41Majority will be going.
47:43And in Raja Sabha?
47:44In Raja Sabha, there isn't any relationship like this.
47:47It's not like that.
47:49It's not like that.
47:49It's not like that.
47:50But when it's been in Vidan, when it's been in the people,
47:55then the Raja Sabha will be going out for many days.
47:58That's the same thing.
47:59Then there is a question on you too.
48:01What will your future happen?
48:03What are you going to do?
48:04I'm not with the mentally party.
48:08You're not with the mentally party.
48:09I'm with the mentally party.
48:11I'm with the mentally party.
48:14I'm not with the target.
48:15I'm mentally.
48:16I'm not.
48:19Because I've given people the signal every once and the poor.
48:26But our government gave a signal.
48:31Either to understand or to disagree,
48:35or to understand it, but to disagree.
48:52That's a huge statement by Sukhendu Shekhar Roy, TMC MP.
48:56He says, mentally, I'm already out of the TMC.
49:00Physically, I may still be in.
49:03Quite a loaded statement.
49:05What does that mean and what will it mean in times to come?
49:08Is a story we'll be tracking very, very closely.
49:11That India Today exclusive by my colleague Indrajeep Kundu.
49:15More news coming in.
49:16Staying with this big story on the India Bloc.
49:18The DMK has now announced that they will not attend the upcoming opposition meeting.
49:24The India Bloc meeting scheduled in Delhi on the 8th of June.
49:28And they've given their reason.
49:30They've made it very clear.
49:31They've said it in the past.
49:32Now they've said it openly.
49:33They will not attend because the Congress party is participating.
49:38DMK and Congress, they're now at loggerheads.
49:41They've contested the Tamil Nadu assembly elections as an alliance.
49:44They've won 64 seats together.
49:46But as TVK emerged as the people's choice in Tamil Nadu, the single largest party,
49:53the Congress overnight dumped the DMK.
49:57Overnight.
49:58Stalin's party was dumped.
50:00And the Congress just switched and joined.
50:03Didn't just extend support.
50:04They joined the Vijay government.
50:07Now that hasn't gone down well with either Mr. Stalin or the family and the party.
50:14Uday Nidhi Stalin, he's called the Congress party, a party of betrayers.
50:19Leaving the alliance and joining hands with TVK, according to him, is unacceptable.
50:23According to sources in the party, the demand by the DMK is for a separate seating block in the Lok
50:29Sabha.
50:31DMK MP Kani Modi, she'd already said so.
50:34A letter has gone to the Lok Sabha speaker.
50:36They want to sit separately from the Congress.
50:39Kani Modi had written a letter stating that separate seating arrangements need to be made about it.
50:45Sources now say Parliamentary Affairs Ministry, they've conveyed to the DMK their concerns and demands to the speaker of the
50:51Lok Sabha.
50:51A final decision on the proposed seating rearrangement will be taken by the speakers soon.
50:56Sources also tell India today that DMK MPs may be shifting to the third seating block where MPs of the
51:02TMC currently sit.
51:04Now, under this proposed reshuffle, seat number 354 in the front row, presently allotted to Abhishek Banerjee, could be then
51:12assigned to DMK leader, T.R. Balu.
51:15What does this mean for the India Bloc?
51:18The opposition alliance has 229 MPs on their side in Lok Sabha.
51:23But if DMK chooses to walk out, that figure will go down to 270.
51:27As far as Rajya Saba is concerned, 74 MPs India Bloc has, but it could fall to 66 if 8
51:34DMK MPs, they are no longer a part of this alliance.
51:37For the opposition, it's actually a double whammy.
51:40It's a double setback.
51:41Sources say, tell India today that DMK seems to have toned down its stance on delimitation.
51:46And is waiting for the centre's fresh draft of the bill that's expected to be reintroduced in the monsoon session
51:54of parliament.
51:55I want to quickly cut across to my colleague, Pramod Madhav, who joins me with the latest on this big
52:00story.
52:01So, Pramod, not only is DMK not attending, their stance on delimitation could pose a challenge for the India alliance.
52:10And one thing is very certain, the important aspect right now is that they claim that they do not want
52:15to attend this particular India alliance meeting on 8th of June,
52:18only because Congress is going to be a part of it.
52:20And they claim that the carriers of DMK are still angry and upset over what Congress has done.
52:25And they do not want to cause any more kind of agony to them.
52:27But also, the statement from the headquarter stated that it was DMK that was one of the forward runners for
52:34the India alliance.
52:35And so, other parties, whatever they decide, with these particular issues of national interest, DMK will go ahead with that.
52:41So, it looks like DMK wants an India alliance without Congress in it.
52:44So, that's how they decide.
52:45In fact, as we speak right now, Odin Nidhi Stalem, the LOP, has also spoken.
52:49And he very clearly has once again called, probably an hour ago, called Congress as betrayers and somebody who has
52:55no gratitude around Gaurav.
52:57Keep tracking that story.
52:58I will come back to you for more Pramod for the moment.
53:01Many thanks.
53:03I now want you to take you to Keralam.
53:05Hijab, no music, separate timings for men and women.
53:10And that's Keralam's first Islam-friendly gymnasium.
53:14And that sparked off a massive debate.
53:16A debate over faith, freedom and public spaces.
53:20Should religious practices or preferences shape rules in a gymnasium, for example?
53:26A place that should be open to people irrespective of their faith?
53:30And where does accommodation end and segregation begin?
53:35So, there was criticism.
53:37The owner has now taken down that original promotional video that outlined what was initially described as Sharia-based guidelines.
53:45But instead of backing down, he's actually defended the concept.
53:48His argument is clear.
53:49Many people stay away from fitness centers because of uncomfortable loud music, mixed-gender workout spaces.
53:56He insists the gym is open to people of all faiths.
53:58It's not a Muslim-only gym.
54:00But space is open to one and all.
54:02The rules are very different.
54:05And politics has now escalated on this subject.
54:09We get you more in this report.
54:20A gym in Kerala's Palakkad finds itself at the center of a storm.
54:26A video promoting its Islamic-friendly experience has triggered a fierce backlash.
54:32In the video, the gym owner says the facility would function without loud music
54:37and would have segregated trainers, presenting it as a fitness center aligned with Islamic values.
54:47Islamic-friendly as a gym was a gym with Islam.
54:50I thought that the people took a certain portion to one,
54:53and they wereمنating the community of Muslims for the course.
54:53I decided that they could make an outbreak and put their blood pressure in their family for themselves.
54:55People have do some separate type of treatment.
54:58There are female groups they had they were separate,
55:00I think they did some separate types of young people.
55:00There are always not a separate type of чтоб you.
55:01I do not want to talk about music and music.
55:03I don't want to talk about some people.
55:04People also know that a Muslim could live in the system.
55:05The Muslim could live in the system.
55:07He could live in the system and sell at the room much bigger and a group of the people.
55:09There's a group that can also be as a group of the people who can provide.
55:18The initiative quickly snowballed into a political and social controversy.
55:23As outrage mounted, the original promotional video was taken down.
55:28In a clarification, gym owner Namaz Muthu said the facility is open to people of all
55:34faiths and was never intended to cater exclusively to Muslims.
55:39The explanation, however, has done little to quell the criticism.
55:44Many are questioning whether faith-based branding has any place in a commercial fitness space.
56:15The BJP, on the other hand, has accused Keralam's ruling Congress of choosing Sharia over Samhidhan
56:22and has alleged that it is being pressured by its ally, the IUML, in the state.
56:31What began as a marketing pitch has now evolved into a wider debate.
56:36Where does religious accommodation end and segregation begin?
