00:00All right, cutting across to some updates coming in, and these are the full list, the names of the rebel
00:08MPs in TMC.
00:10The list of the 19 MPs of TMC who have now opened a rebellion against Mamata Banerjee.
00:18India Today has accessed that list.
00:21So let me bring it forward for you.
00:24This is the list of 19 rebel MPs who are now ready to break away from the TMC.
00:32November 19 is the magic number to cross over without losing your candidature or your seat in the parliament under
00:41the anti-defection law.
00:43What are the names? Let's get to that.
00:45Kakoli Ghosh.
00:46There is Jagdish Chandra Basunia.
00:50There is Kali Ur Rehman.
00:51There is Yusuf Pathan.
00:52There is Partha Bhomik.
00:55Abu Tahir Khan.
00:57There is Bapi Haldar.
00:59There is Sayoni Ghosh.
01:00Mala Roy.
01:01Mitali Bab.
01:03Deepak Adhikari.
01:05Kalipada Sorain.
01:06June Malia.
01:07Aroop Chakrabarti.
01:09Dr. Sharmila Sarkar.
01:10Shatrugand Sinha.
01:12Asit Kumar Mal.
01:14There is Rachna Banerji.
01:16And there is Shatavodi Roy.
01:23All the list of the 19 MPs who are ready to switch over.
01:30Piyush Mishra joins us for more on this.
01:33Piyush, this is just the magic number they need.
01:37If they have this number with them, if they have these signatures, what are they waiting for?
01:43Why have we not seen them at the speaker already?
01:46Is there still a bit of pull and push that's happening?
01:48Mamata Banerji has some sway?
01:50Or is this a done deal now?
01:52Well, what we are now hearing from our social channel is that a few meetings are taking place in Kolkata.
01:58And a maximum of these MPs have now flown back to Kolkata in the last few days.
02:04We have also seen active pilots taking place in Delhi.
02:07And now it has been completely shifted to Kolkata where the organization leaders are holding meetings there in Kolkata.
02:13MPs are having their own gatherings in Kolkata.
02:17And after the final decision is taken by all MPs, they are going to approach Lok Sabaa's speaker.
02:24But sources have also confirmed to us that they have requested time from the office of Lok Sabaa's speaker.
02:31And after requesting for time from Lok Sabaa's speaker, and when they get this time, then these MPs will fly
02:38back to Delhi in the leadership of Kakuli Golsh.
02:42And they are going to submit this list of MPs that have signed this letter.
02:50So after submitting that letter, they will be requesting Lok Sabaa's speaker to announce that they have been mandated, they
02:58have the numbers.
02:58And Kakuli Golsh should again be appointed as the leader of the rebel PMC MPs.
03:05Those have had a series of meetings in the last few days.
03:09So it's a big joke to Mamata Banerjee.
03:12Now it's how to open that how around 19 MPs.
03:15And this is the exact number which you need out of 28 MPs of Rindamul Congress.
03:21Remember that Rindamul Congress has 29 MPs and 1 MP dies.
03:25So if you go by the current strength, you need 19 MPs in your city to break away, to form
03:32the breakaway faction of Rindamul Congress.
03:35And it seems like the numbers are sufficient with the rebel faction of Rindamul Congress.
03:41And very soon we will see Rindamul Congress, you know, breaking out and open.
03:47The split is already there in the open.
03:49But officially the new faction will get its number and will get its name very soon as the list is
03:55now open.
03:57All right, those 19 MPs now switching over the magic number for the anti-defection law to kick in.
04:06The golden number there, 19 is what the rebel MPs claim that they have.
04:12They want to merge with the BJP now and leave the TMC tag behind.
04:17This is a script we've seen before.
04:19We saw that with Raghav Chadda and the other seven who actually switched over from the Amadi party to the
04:26BJP not very long ago.
04:28That was right before the Punjab election.
04:30This time right after in West Bengal, we are seeing, you know, rebel MPs joining the BJP.
04:38Svamta Banerjee seems to be losing trust not just of the people on ground, but even her own party, Ikada.
04:44Because remember, it's not just MPs at the centre in the parliament, but MLAs as well who are switching over.
04:50And there seems to be a real hard time ahead for Mamata Banerjee to actually hold on to them.
04:57Some very shocking names amidst that entire list.
05:00People who you have seen as staunch BJP, you know, critics online.
05:06People who vouched for Mamata Banerjee and spoke about her leadership style.
05:11And not very long ago were on the streets against the BJP, questioning their policies, questioning their politics, have now
05:19overnight turned over.
05:21It can only happen in Indian politics where there seems to be no loyalty at all.
05:26There seems to be no ideology either.
05:29Because what else would explain this switchover that we are seeing in party after party, in state after state?
05:35What exactly is going on over there?
05:37Let's try and understand that and we'll cut across to our colleagues who are bringing in more perspective, both from
05:42the centre and also in the state.
05:46Look at that.
05:47Shaini Ghosh, you've seen her reels go viral online on how vocal she was in her support for TMC and
05:54how anti-BJP she was.
05:56What happened overnight?
05:57How is she suddenly shifting loyalties and moving over to the BJP?
06:02What exactly is the kind of politics that we are seeing unfold in our country right now?
06:06That's something you and I as voters have to ask today.
06:09But for the moment, let me take that question to Indrajeet Kuntu, who's joining us from Kolkata at this point.
06:14Indrajeet, shocking names really.
06:17And, you know, it's not even been a month since the West Bengal elections got over.
06:22We saw the same leaders fiercely speaking against the BJP and here they are, ready to switch over, loyalties, join
06:30that party.
06:31How does that happen in Indian politics?
06:34Well, as they say, impossible is nothing as far as Indian politics is concerned or politics in general.
06:40You can't rule out anything.
06:42But what we are seeing is almost like a, you know, script of a film that's playing out as far
06:48as West Bengal politics is concerned.
06:50Less than a month, a party that was in power just a month back.
06:54Now, you know, and now it's complete disarray.
06:58It's disintegrating with each passing moment or perhaps each passing hour.
07:04And the names that we are putting out right now, there have been a lot of speculation over them.
07:08We have been, you know, learning from our sources.
07:10Most of them were confirmed.
07:13There are a few additions.
07:14I'm surprised by one such name and that is Sattrugna Sinha.
07:18We can also confirm that even his name is there.
07:20Yusuf Pathan, we were given to understand that he was, he had flown down to Delhi.
07:26And he was in talks is what we were told.
07:29So not very surprising.
07:31Chinese, which we've broken earlier in the day, that she has been in touch and she is one of those
07:36rebel,
07:37she is one of those MPs in the rebel camp right now.
07:41But, you know, Sattrugna Sinha, till yesterday I was told that he was in Mamata Banerjee's camp.
07:48But now we are given to understand, as is being confirmed to us, that he is one of the signatories.
07:54So, the rebel camp now has 19 MPs.
07:57Let me, help me understand this.
07:59What do they gain by switching loyalties?
08:02And is their electorate not watching?
08:04They have to go back and fight elections, ask for votes again later.
08:08How will that happen?
08:10And how, what exactly is the incentive at the moment?
08:14We understand the incentive for the BJP.
08:16They want those numbers to get brute majority and get their, you know, all the bills that they have in
08:22mind,
08:22especially the delimitation bill and One Nation, One Bill, to be passed.
08:25We know the objective of the BJP over there.
08:28But what do these MPs get?
08:33Well, as I said, you know, each one has their own equation and they're assessing the situation individually.
08:41So, all these MPs who have taken the call, who have now gone to the rebel camp,
08:49they have taken the decision individually, even though it does look like a collective decision.
08:55Individual in a sense that each one has assessed their own individual political reality in their own constituencies.
09:03And of course, vis-a-vis West Bengal politics and way it has changed over the past one month,
09:09ever since the election results were announced.
09:11The reality on the ground is that many of these MPs want to be able to work in their own
09:20local constituencies.
09:21There are people who have come in not from politics.
09:23A lot of them, like Rochona Banerjee, like Dave, who is a superstar in Bengal.
09:28He's a reigning superstar in Bengal.
09:30And he's also a Lok Sabha MP.
09:32I can tell you with quite a lot of certainty that in 2024, Dave did not want to contest.
09:40There were two others, you remember, Nusrat and Mimi?
09:43They two were Trinamore Congress MPs.
09:45And they had come in from the firm fraternity.
09:47They have quit.
09:49Nusrat, after one term, she has quit.
09:51She's left politics.
09:53So has Mimi.
09:54She formally quit politics.
09:55But Dave continued.
09:57And he was literally coaxed by the Trinamore Congress to enter into the fray in 2024,
10:02which he did not want to, but he went in without much of his wish.
10:07And then he won the seat.
10:08So while the Trinamore Congress used his stardom and used him as a star campaigner across the state,
10:15he also got coaxed in and he agreed.
10:18Finally, at this point in time, given the kind of political turmoil,
10:23he finds himself in a weird situation where he is not a politician.
10:27Right.
10:27He's not into politics, but he is an elected representative.
10:31So what does he do?
10:32So what we are gathering is that, so he says, and he said it in no uncertain terms,
10:37that he needs to work for his constituency, for his people.
10:41So there are two options.
10:42And this is a script.
10:43Yeah, so this is a script, like you said, Indraji, that is being laid out.
10:47And this is only part two, because we saw part one of the same thing happen with the Aam Adni
10:52party.
10:52But like I said, there the focus was more local.
10:55Here the focus seems to be more national.
10:57And BJP stands to gain in both places.
10:59It's perform or perish for any other political party at the moment.
11:02We leave it there.
11:03Thanks so much for joining us.
