Workers attached to the Registrar General's office in Tobago are calling on Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Minister of Legal Affairs Saddam Hosein and the THA to intervene in addressing longstanding issues affecting them. 00:00Workers told TV6 News ongoing workplace concerns involving Senior Legal Counsel in Tobago,
00:07the Registrar General of Trinidad and Tobago, and management within the Office of the Registrar
00:12General are affecting workers. They say there have been several complaints arising from separate
00:19incidents involving members of staff. The workers claim that despite repeated efforts to address
00:25their concerns internally involving writing to the Director of Human Resources, Permanent Secretary,
00:32Minister of Land and Legal Affairs, and the Registrar General, no effective remedial action
00:39has been taken. As a result, employees state the work environment has become increasingly strained
00:47and demoralizing, adversely impacting staff morale and productivity. TV6 News contacted
00:55Minister of Legal Affairs, Saddam Hussein, on the concerns affecting the workers.
01:00I am aware of some of the challenges that are currently facing some of the HR issues at the
01:08RGD office. Only today I have met with the HR department to try to iron out some of those
01:13issues. Workers told TV6 News grievances include harassment, intimidation, disrespect and unfair
01:21treatment. I have asked the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Land and Legal Affairs
01:26to make some inquiries to verify the veracity of some of those complaints.
