Minister in the Ministry of Housing, Anil Roberts, has launched a scathing attack on St. Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves — accusing him of bias and alleging his family benefited from housing arrangements in Trinidad and Tobago.
Roberts' comments come in response to Gonsalves' criticism of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar's position on the ongoing U.S.–Venezuela tensions.
00:00Over two weeks ago, St. Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves questioned Trinidad and Tobago's foreign policy stance, describing it as a misguided notion on what constitutes a zone of peace.
00:14How are you going to coordinate foreign policy in a proper way when we can't agree on a simple matter as to what constitutes a zone of peace? Trinidad and Tobago now has a view of the zone of peace, the CARICOM and Latin American areas as a zone of peace, where, in my view, it's a misguided notion.
00:39This hasn't sat well with Minister and the Housing Ministry, Anil Roberts, who in his Dolls and Coffee podcast fired back, suggesting Dr. Gonsalves' comments were politically motivated, citing his alleged close relationship with the Dr. Rowley administration.
00:57Are your children's names Sole Gonzalez and Storm Gonzalez? Is your wife's name Eloise Gonzalez?
01:09I ask this because, Honourable Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, did you disclose to Trinidad and Tobago, to the people of Trinidad and Tobago, and to the people of St. Vincent and CARICOM, that when you are speaking, you have received, your family has received great benefit from the PNM?
01:35Holding up documents he claimed came from the Housing Development Corporation, Roberts alleged that properties in the upscale Victoria Keys development were linked to members of Gonsalves' family.
01:48Are these documents that I hold in my hand belonging to the family of Ralph Gonzalez?
01:56This letter to Storm Gonzalez, dated 21st of August, 2018, from the HDC, the Housing Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago, saying, letter of sale of property at Victoria Keys.
02:19He went further, claiming the properties were sold at subsidized prices, and that qualification rules may have been overlooked.
02:27Your entire family getting housed in Trinidad and Tobago, from the PNM, your wife, your son, and your daughter, $1.9 million for one, $1.96 million for one, another one for $1.625 million,
02:53and another one for $1.3 million, totaling $4.885 million of Trinidad and Tobago taxpayers' value.
03:07Roberts also questioned whether the alleged beneficiaries met the HDC's income and ownership criteria.
03:13Is your wife an owner of any other property in Trinidad and Tobago?
03:20Who owns the house at Silver Oaks in Pity Valley?
03:25Because if any of your family own any house in Trinidad and Tobago, St. Vincent's, or any other sovereign nation,
03:33they do not qualify for subsidized housing under the policy of the HDC and the Ministry of Housing in Trinidad and Tobago.
03:40So please answer these questions.
03:44What is your son's monthly income at his tech company?
03:48Does he earn over $25,000 per month?
03:52Because if he does, he put on this form $25,000 and signed it.
03:59Signing a false declaration in Trinidad and Tobago, Ralph Gonzalez is criminal.
04:03So please answer, what is the revenue or the earnings of your son per month in Titi dollars?
