00:00Hello again. Energised skies at the moment. The atmosphere is producing some pretty hefty showers and there's more to come
00:08as we go through Wednesday.
00:09There are signs though of something a bit drier, warmer and sunnier as we head into the weekend.
00:14But for the time being, it'll be more puddle inducing showers that come crossing through the country through the night.
00:20Heavy ones around, hail, thunder, lightning thrown in for good measure.
00:24The showers are fading in these eastern areas, so generally becoming dry with clear skies through the early hours.
00:30Further west, we'll keep some clear spells, but we'll also keep some showers feeding in on the breeze.
00:35Temperatures mostly dipping down to single figures across the north.
00:39Further south, we'll stay at about 10 or 11 Celsius in most towns and cities to start Wednesday.
00:44And Wednesday will be another day of sunshine and showers.
00:47Bit of an east-west split initially, with many eastern counties of England and Scotland starting off with quite a
00:53bit of sunshine.
00:54But the clouds will soon start to bubble up and we'll see showers in the west blown in on the
00:58brisk breeze in the morning.
00:59Becoming more widespread by mid-morning and then developing into some pretty intense downpours by the afternoon.
01:06Most likely to see thundery showers over eastern England, eastern Scotland through the afternoon.
01:11Whereas actually in the west, maybe fewer showers in the afternoon.
01:14Better chance certainly over south Wales.
01:16Southwest England have seen longer dry spells with a bit more sunshine.
01:21Still a fairly brisk and cool wind blowing.
01:23Temperatures will certainly take a dip when the showers come along.
01:26These are the maxima, generally 15, 16, 17.
01:29Might squeak an 18 in one or two spots.
01:32But overall, feeling fairly cool for this time of the year.
01:35Still quite a few heavy showers around for Wednesday evening again.
01:39A lot of spray, a lot of surface water on the roads when you're driving along.
01:43One minute it's dry, the next minute you're caught in a hefty downpour.
01:47But they are going to fade through Wednesday night.
01:49It becomes dry for a time.
01:51And then a change as we go into Thursday.
01:54More persistent rain coming in through the early hours across Northern Ireland.
01:57Bringing in milder air.
01:59Ahead of that, we may again see temperatures dipping down into single figures.
02:02But any early brightness across the east will soon disappear as that rain in the west.
02:07Some of which will be pretty heavy.
02:08Initially over Northern Ireland, North Wales, then Northern England.
02:11Spreading into Scotland.
02:13The north-east of Scotland may have a dry morning.
02:15But even here, turns damp by the afternoon.
02:18The rain easing perhaps a little in places later in the day.
02:21But it's going to be quite messy.
02:23It's going to stay fairly cloudy with further rain and drizzle on and off.
02:26So overall, a pretty grey day on Thursday.
02:29Quite a breezy day again.
02:31Temperatures, again on the face of it, below average.
02:35But perhaps feeling a bit more humid as we go through Thursday compared to Wednesday.
02:40That's because these bands of rain are tied in with these weather fronts.
02:44There's what's called a warm sector in here between the warm and the cold front.
02:48It moves across the country as we go through Friday.
02:50Kind of lingers across the south.
02:52But it will be fizzling out because, look at this, high pressure is building in.
02:56And that will squeeze the rain away.
02:58And then slowly but surely start to lift the temperatures.
03:02Certainly from the south as we go through the weekend.
03:04A bit of uncertainty about exactly how high the temperatures are going to get.
03:08But it is going to warm up and certainly turn a lot drier through the weekend.
03:13And, well, most of us should see some sunshine as well.
03:16For more details on that, you'll want to watch the Met Office Deep Dive.
03:20That's available on our YouTube channels.
03:22And, of course, as we get closer to the time, be firm upon those details.
