00:00Morning, a fresh start to the weekend, a Saturday of showers.
00:04Sunday looks largely dry and fine for most of us.
00:07The weekend dominated by low pressure exiting and this little bump in the isobars,
00:13a little ridge of high pressure slowly toppling in.
00:16But it's not with us yet, and between the two, the winds are drawing down from Iceland.
00:21Hence why we have something of a fresh start.
00:23It certainly feels pretty fresh in that wind, and that wind is bringing in the showers.
00:27Of course, Scotland, there'll be plenty of them.
00:28Frequent showers through the day here and for much of Northern Ireland,
00:32and they'll feed down through the Irish Sea into northwest England and north Wales.
00:36We'll see some cropping up this afternoon over the Midlands, one or two for eastern England,
00:40and across the southwest of England too.
00:42But here in the south of England, the east of England, the showers, I think, few and far between,
00:46and much of the day should be dry.
00:48And the showers even starting to fade, I suspect, through the afternoon in Wales.
00:51So some decent spells of dry and bright weather.
00:54But even when the sun's out, it's not going to feel all that warm.
00:57Temperatures actually not far off average, maybe a little bit below,
01:01but certainly a lot cooler than they have been for much of autumn so far.
01:05And when you add on that wind and the frequent showers, I think it'll feel pretty cold
01:09across the highlands of Scotland.
01:11Cold enough for some snow over the tops of the mountains.
01:13Nothing unusual about that at this time of year.
01:16The temperatures, though, are a touch below the average across the whole of October by around about one to three
01:23degrees Celsius.
01:24And as I said, add on the wind and it does feel colder still.
01:27There'll be plenty more of those showers packing in across northern and western Scotland during this evening.
01:31Still some feeding into the north of Northern Ireland, into northwest England, and one or two across England and Wales.
01:37If you are heading out, just be prepared for that.
01:39But I suspect the showers will tend to fade and most places becoming dry through the night.
01:44Certainly across central and southern Scotland and eastern England, lengthy clear spells.
01:48And that cold and somewhat nagging wind will be easing through the night as well.
01:53As that happens, the winds ease and we see the clear skies.
01:56It will actually turn quite chilly.
01:58A colder night than the one just gone.
02:01Temperatures more widely down to mid-single figures and pockets of frost possible over northern England, southern Scotland in rural
02:07spots and for Northern Ireland too.
02:09Notice the cloud just set to return down to the southwest.
02:13So that will keep the temperatures up here.
02:16For most, though, a cold start tomorrow morning, but a bright start, plenty of sunshine.
02:20There'll still be a few showers over northern Scotland, but nowhere near as many as today.
02:25Still one or two, perhaps southwest Scotland, feeding into the Lake District.
02:28But most places having a dry and a bright morning.
02:31Further west, however, after potentially quite a bright start, the sky will start to bruise and the cloud gradually getting
02:37lower and lower.
02:38And you can see the threat of rain trickling in quite patchy through the afternoon, but some of it getting
02:43into parts of South Wales and southwest England, perhaps even into the southwest of Northern Ireland.
02:49But for most places, most of the day, dry and bright with some sunshine, with lighter winds.
02:54Even though temperatures will be much higher, I suspect it'll feel a bit warmer than today.
02:5913, 14 degrees, still a touch below average for most places.
03:03Late in the day, 15, 16.
03:04But here the winds will be picking up again as that area of rain moves in, becoming more extensive during
03:09Sunday night and spreading across most areas as we head into the first part of Monday.
03:14Next week, the weather could be quite lively.
