00:00Hello again. Welcome to your latest update from the Met Office.
00:03And if you're watching on YouTube, well, why not hit subscribe?
00:06High pressure continues to dominate, continues to bring a lot of dry weather around the high pressure.
00:11The breeze filtering in from the northeast, bringing the cloud back inland through the early hours over eastern England,
00:18into the Midlands and eventually perhaps even east Wales.
00:21Further south and further west, generally dry and clear.
00:24We've seen some thundery showers over the Channel Isles during Wednesday.
00:27Even the odd shower across southwest England, they should be tending to shear away.
00:32So, again, most places will be dry.
00:35Reasonably comfortable night, actually, certainly compared to many through the summer so far.
00:40Temperatures in western Scotland and rural spots well down into single figures.
00:44Most urban areas in the mid-teens, still quite warm and humid across the far southwest.
00:50That northeasterly breeze continues to feed that cloud in then first thing Thursday morning.
00:54Drab start so far, much of eastern England and the Midlands, much of southern England, Wales, Northern Ireland, western Scotland
01:02having a largely sunny day.
01:04Elsewhere, the cloud inland should break up quite a bit to reveal some lengthy spells of sunshine by the afternoon.
01:10Again, the possibility of some showers coming up from France may be affecting the Channel Isles, perhaps even into the
01:16southwest.
01:17But if you're after a rainer, we're not really going to see much of it at all.
01:21So, just the small chance of a shower in the southwest.
01:25The cloud may stick to some of these coasts with the breeze coming in off the North Sea.
01:30So, some frets and some hares at times along the coasts of northeast England and eastern Scotland.
01:36But even here, I think that'll be fairly patchy.
01:38Most places will be sunny.
01:40And we will still have that breeze.
01:41So, that will make it feel a little cooler on the east coast, temperatures close to or maybe even a
01:46touch below average, particularly if it does stay misty.
01:48But inlands, we'll be into the low 20s and certainly further west and further south, mid to high 20s and
01:55probably squeaking up to 30 Celsius in and around the London area.
01:58Sun is, of course, still very strong.
02:00UV levels will be very high indeed, or once more.
02:04As we go through Thursday evening, not a great deal of change.
02:07Just, as I said, the possibility of showers drifting up from France and thunderstorms is something we'll have to keep
02:13an eye on even into Friday.
02:14The wind's just subtly shifting direction, coming more down from the north, generating again quite a bit of cloud here
02:20across northern and eastern Scotland, northeast England.
02:24Might even produce the odd light bit of drizzle here and there.
02:27And, as I said, again, on Friday, we'll have to watch down to the south.
02:30There is the chance of seeing some thundery showers coming up towards the southeast, but it's a very small chance.
02:36And, again, any rain will be very localised, so it's not really going to help with the very dry conditions
02:41that we have.
02:42And most places, again, on Friday, just dry and with plenty of hazy sunshine.
02:48Again, that breeze coming in from the sea will have an impact on the temperatures.
02:52It's quite as hot further south, but still getting into the mids to high 20s.
02:57And we will see temperatures dipping off a little more as we go into the weekends.
03:01We'll start to see the influence more of that northerly breeze.
03:04High pressure is still in control, but it's just wobbling its way out a little bit further to the west.
03:10So around the high, the winds, of course, coming clockwise.
03:13We'll continue to drift down from the north, so it brings just slightly cooler air.
03:17It's still going to be largely dry. It's still going to be sunny for the vast majority.
03:22With that northerly breeze, we could just see a few more showers coming into northern Scotland at times.
03:27And we will see those temperatures just not quite as high for the weekend.
03:32So if you're after rain, it doesn't look good.
03:35Still largely dry, as I said, just a little bit cooler, but still warm.
03:39And we'll continue with some fresh breezes around coasts.
03:42What about the longer term? Any sign of any rainfall at all on the horizon?
03:46Well, for that, you'll want to check out Alex Burkill's 10-Day Trend.
03:50That is available on our YouTube channel.
03:52Another reason to subscribe.
