00:00So a little bit of news here coming down.
00:01Okay.
00:02A judge in a district court in Lubbock, Texas,
00:05has granted the injunction request of Texas Tech quarterback
00:08Brendan Soresby.
00:09He is set to be eligible for the 2026 season.
00:13From the ruling, and this is all courtesy of Pete Thamel of ESPN,
00:16from the ruling, the NCAA cannot prevent Texas Tech quarterback
00:19from practicing, playing, or otherwise participating
00:23in Texas Tech's football season in 2026.
00:26Okay, so he's staying in college then.
00:28So, well, we don't 100% know, but that pathway is now wide open
00:32where before it looked like it was a little bit more shut.
00:34Okay, can I just say this?
00:36I'm glad he's staying in college.
00:39If that's what it means.
00:41That's what this means.
00:42Okay, I'm glad he's staying there because I've got to be honest,
00:45I wanted nothing to do with that for the Browns.
00:50So we have some more from Ian Rappaport.
00:51He's saying that Soresby is going to serve a two-game suspension
00:55and he won't be eligible to participate in the supplemental draft.
00:58So it looks like we're not going to be seeing Soresby in the NFL next year.
01:03So wait, are you saying that two-game suspension is an NCAA two-game suspension?
01:07That's what it looks like.
01:09This is the exact words from Ian Rappaport.
01:11Texas Tech quarterback Brandon Soresby,
01:13slated to be one of college football's top prospects,
01:15will serve a two-game suspension as part of the ruling.
01:17In addition, he officially won't be eligible to participate in the NFL supplemental draft.
01:22Gotcha, okay.
01:22So it sounds like he's got a two-game suspension from college
01:25because we all know from the ridiculous you-know-what that happened to Ohio State
01:32with Terrell Pryor and Jim Trestle, like the biggest joke ever.
01:37It was a different era and a different world back then.
01:40It was garbage when it happened.
01:42Like the biggest joke ever that Trestle went to Indianapolis to be their video coordinator
01:49and watch plays, and he was suspended from the NFL from that
01:53because like the biggest joke ever, and the prior thing was even worse.
02:00Big deal.
02:01Dude got a tattoo.
02:02So I understand where everything is currently sitting.
02:07Here's my issue just taking one step back from all of this.
02:13So you mean to tell me that we are going to allow someone who bet on their team?
02:21Cardinal said, like the one thing, one thing you cannot do,
02:26and I'm not here to be moral police and go down this road of everything else
02:30that you could do horrendously wrong that will still have you sitting in Hall of Fames
02:33across this country.
02:34There is one thing that you cannot do in sports, and it's bet on your team.
02:40The one thing.
02:41I'm with you.
02:42He did it.
02:43And now we're good.
02:45He's back.
02:46We're good to go because of what happened here.
02:48What are we doing?
02:50There's one mistake that you can make that you cannot come back from in professional sports.
02:56We have seen it happen for a lot of other things.
02:58We've seen it happen to a lot of other people.
03:00People, you have now opened the door for more and more people to gamble on pretty much anything
03:07because now you have set the precedent that as long as you have a lawyer who's pretty damn
03:11good at what he does, you have opened the door for these guys to now do it.
03:16Not only did he gamble himself on his team, he gambled with proxies.
03:19He knew what the hell he was doing.
03:21This isn't some giant mistake.
03:23I'm sorry.
03:23I'm done.
03:23No, no, no.
03:24Don't be sorry.
03:25Don't be mad.
03:25I love the passion.
03:27No, my point is, who are you mad at?
03:29Are you mad at the NCAA?
03:30I'm mad at the NCAA.
03:31How can you be mad at the NCAA?
03:32They said he was done and he went to the government and said, hey, this isn't right.
03:38If you want to be mad, you should probably be mad at the court system.
03:40Right.
03:41I'm mad at the entire situation that we're in the midst of here because what you're basically
03:45saying, it's our legal system.
03:47Yeah.
03:48As long as you have the right lawyer who can make the right argument about the right thing,
03:52who gets the right amount of dough, you can get away scot-free.
03:56What are we doing?
03:58Well, if I'm Texas Tech, I'm going, all right, well, you're just flat out not playing.
04:02We're putting you on the bench now because even if the NCAA isn't the one to suspend you,
04:07I can't trust that you will do the right thing when it comes to putting our team in the best
04:12position because you've already wrecked that trust.
04:15I'll buy what you're selling right there because I agree with you.
04:17If Texas Tech decides to put him back on the field, that's on Texas Tech.
04:22Yes.
04:22So, I mean, the court system here is just saying, for a temporary injunction, they're saying,
04:29let's pause here for a second.
04:31Let's make sure we have all the facts before we get some kind of ruling on this.
04:34And then they're saying that there's reason to look further into the situation.
04:40So, I'm not, I mean, this is due process.
04:43This is about living in the United States.
04:45So, I can't really be mad at the courts.
04:48I can't be mad at the NCAA because they wanted him out.
04:52So, I agree with that.
04:53But I do think Texas Tech has to look themselves in the mirror and go,
04:57we've got a guy that's gambling on his own game.
05:00This is why I wanted the Browns to have nothing to do with him.
05:04Same here.
05:04Nothing.
05:05Did we not learn anything from Arch Lister?
05:08Did we not?
05:09Did we not learn anything there?
05:12And, you know, I just don't, I don't understand how you could put,
05:17how you could put him out on the field knowing that all of this is going on.
05:20Yeah.
05:20So, maybe you get him to the point where you give him the opportunity because,
05:25I mean, we are the land of second chances too,
05:27where you can 100% agree that he has his addiction under control.
05:33I mean, you know, if you, I have friends that are alcoholics that they know that's what they are and
05:39they will be that and they're doing their best every day to avoid their demons.
05:45And we know that gambling is the same way.
05:47It's just, it's all in moderation, but not when you're playing, not when you could have a direct effect on
05:55the outcome of the game.
05:56And maybe we're being Pollyannic about this whole thing because we want to believe, well, you play for the integrity
06:03of the game.
06:03But it even makes me, but I mean, I, I, the fact that it was even considered here of all
06:10places that the Browns would be super interested in Brendan Sorsby was just like,
06:15we look like we look like we're going in this direction where everything is, they're, they're trying to, to learn
06:22from the mistakes of the past about bringing players in for their football merits and not about their headlines around
06:29the game.
06:29That that situation and our franchise seemed like it would be in the future.
06:35So every time I would hear Sorsby's name, I'm like, wait a second.
06:39I mean, we're arguing about a guy who is not the premier quarterback in football, in college football.
06:45And we're talking about bringing in a guy that has serious issues.
06:50Like, you know, press conferences are going to start with, Hey, you know, you just realized you brought in a
06:57guy that was in trouble in college for gambling on his own sport.
07:01What are we doing here?
07:02But, you know, so, but I also somewhat blame the NCAA for this, for the fact that they're giving him
07:07a two game penalty when clearly they had the power to give him more.
07:11Clearly the power was there.
07:12How much more though?
07:13How much more could they have given him?
07:14I would have sat him for the year.
07:16Yeah, but they gave at least, but they had to get a temporary injunction here.
07:19Right.
07:20I understand that, but at least put on there something that the fact that then you're going to go, okay,
07:24well, here's this two game penalty for what took place.
07:27You mean to tell me something that has kept Pete Rose out of the hall of fame his entire life
07:31that has completely good now, right?
07:33The black Sox scandal on top of that of shoeless Joe and everything else and countless other things.
07:38We're in the midst of a Terry Rozier situation with the FBI in the midst of it.
07:42How about our closer?
07:44Yeah, our closer and starting pitcher.
07:47We're in the midst of all this stuff where these guys are going to jail for the gambling that's involved
07:51in the possibility of throwing certain aspects.
07:53Here we have someone who's betting on his own team and he gets a two game suspension.
07:57I'm sorry.
07:57That's garbage.
07:58That's hogwash.
07:59What are we doing like the minute your professional sports turn into WWE where people are questioning more than just,
08:09Oh, this game is fixed.
08:10The minute you begin to question that you lose integrity, you lose eyeballs, and you lose everything that you've built.
08:18The minute this becomes WWE where people believe that the outcomes are predetermined, you're toast.
08:24What you've done right here is open up the door.
08:27This is a joke.
08:28This is embarrassing.
08:31WWE seems to be sold out all the time.
08:34I don't know if you've noticed that or not.
