00:10O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing your praise.
00:17O God, make speed to save us. O Lord, make haste to help us.
00:26Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
00:32is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
00:39Let us praise the Lord. The Lord's name be praised.
00:49I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
00:59I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.
01:09God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the
01:19Father.
01:20Through him all things were made.
01:23For us men, and for our salvation, he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit, was incarnate of
01:31the Virgin Mary, and became man.
01:35For our sake, he was crucified under Pontius Pilate.
01:39He suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
01:46He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
01:52He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
01:59I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father,
02:06who with the Father and the Son, is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
02:14I believe in one holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church.
02:18I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins,
02:23and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
02:30Amen.
02:33The Lord be with you, and also with you.
02:39Let us pray.
02:42Lord, have mercy upon us.
02:45Christ, have mercy upon us.
02:48Lord, have mercy upon us.
02:53Our Father in heaven, holy is your name.
02:58Your kingdom come.
03:00Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
03:05Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:16Do not allow us to fall into temptation, but deliver us from every evil.
03:23Amen.
03:27O Lord, have mercy upon us, and grant us your salvation.
03:34Bless your ministers with righteousness, and make your chosen people joyful.
03:44O Lord, save your people, and bless your inheritance.
03:51Give peace in our time, O Lord, because there is none other that fights for us, but only you, O
03:59God.
04:01O God, make clean our hearts within us.
04:06Do not take your Holy Spirit from us.
04:15The second book of Chronicles, chapter 25.
04:20Amaziah was 25 years old when he began to reign.
04:24He reigned for 29 years in Jerusalem.
04:34He did what the Lord approved of, but not with wholehearted devotion.
04:40When he had secured control of the kingdom, he executed the servants who had assassinated his father.
04:49However, he did not execute their sons.
04:52He obeyed the Lord's commandments, as recorded in the law, scroll of Moses.
05:00Fathers must not be executed for what their sons do, and sons not executed for what their fathers do.
05:08A man may only be executed for his own sin.
05:14Amaziah assembled the people of Judah, and assigned them by families to the commanders of units of a thousand,
05:22and the commanders of units of a hundred, for all Judah and Benjamin.
05:27He counted those of 20 years old and upward, and discovered there were 300,000 young men of fighting age,
05:35equipped with spears and shields.
05:38He hired 100,000 Israelite warriors for a hundred talents of silver.
05:46But a prophet visited with him and said,
05:49O king, the Israelite troops must not go with you,
05:53for the Lord is not with Israel or with any of the Ephraimites.
05:58Even if you go and fight bravely in battle, God will defeat you before the enemy.
06:03God is capable of helping or defeating.
06:10Amaziah asked the prophet,
06:12But what should I do about the hundred talents of silver?
06:15I paid the Israelite troops.
06:18The prophet replied,
06:20The Lord is capable of giving you more than that.
06:24So Amaziah dismissed the troops that had come to him from Ephraim and sent them home.
06:31They were very angry at Judah and returned home incensed.
06:36Amaziah boldly led his army to the Valley of Salt,
06:40where he defeated 10,000 Edomites.
06:43The men of Judah captured 10,000 men alive.
06:47They took them to the top of a cliff and threw them over,
06:51and all the captives fell to their death.
06:56Now the troops Amaziah had dismissed and had not allowed to fight in the battle
07:01raided the cities of Judah, from Samaria to Beth-horon.
07:05They killed 3,000 people and carried off a large amount of plunder.
07:13When Amaziah returned from defeating the Edomites,
07:16he brought back the gods of the people of Seir and made them his personal gods.
07:21He bowed before them and offered them sacrifices.
07:26The Lord was angry with Amaziah and sent a prophet to him who said,
07:30Why do you follow these gods that could not deliver their own people from your power?
07:37While he was speaking, Amaziah said to him,
07:40Did we appoint you to be a royal counsellor?
07:44Stop prophesying or you will be killed.
07:48So the prophet stopped, but added,
07:52I know that the Lord has decided to destroy you.
07:55Because you have done this thing, I refuse to listen to my advice.
08:03After King Amaziah of Judah consulted with his advisors,
08:07he sent this message to the king of Israel,
08:20King Amaziah of Israel sent back this message to Amaziah of Judah.
08:26A thorn bush in Lebanon sent this message to a cedar in Lebanon.
08:32Give your daughter to my son as a wife.
08:37Then the wild animal of Lebanon came by and trampled down the thorn bush.
08:43You defeated Edom and it has gone to your head.
08:47Gloat over your success, but stay in your palace.
08:51Why bring calamity upon yourself?
08:53Why bring down yourself and Judah along with you?
08:59But Amaziah did not heed the warning,
09:01for God wanted to hand them over to Joash,
09:04because they followed the gods of Edom.
09:08So King Joash of Israel attacked.
09:11Him, he and King Amaziah of Judah
09:14faced each other on the battlefield in Beth Shemesh of Judah.
09:18Judah was defeated by Israel
09:20and the men ran back home.
09:23King Joash of Israel captured King Amaziah of Judah,
09:28son of Joash, son of Jehorus,
09:31in Beth Shemesh
09:33and brought him to Jerusalem.
09:36He broke down the wall of Jerusalem
09:38from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate,
09:42a distance of about 600 feet.
09:44He took away the gold and silver,
09:47all the items found in God's temple
09:49that were in the care of Obed-Edom,
09:53the riches in the royal palace and hostages.
09:56And then he went back to Samaria.
10:02King Amaziah, son of Joash of Judah,
10:05lived for 15 years
10:06after the death of Joash,
10:08son of Jehorus of Israel.
10:13The rest of the events of Amaziah's reign
10:15from start to finish
10:16are recorded in the scroll
10:18of the kings of Judah and Israel.
10:21From the time Amaziah returned,
10:24following the Lord,
10:28conspirators plotted against him in Jerusalem
10:30and so he fled to Lachish.
10:34But they sent assassins after him
10:36and they killed him there.
10:39His body was carried back by horses
10:41and he was buried in Jerusalem
10:43with his ancestors
10:44in the city of David.
10:48This is the word of the Lord.
10:51Thanks be to God.
10:57God bless you.
11:24There is not help in my pledge
11:28Because of my displeasure
11:32Neither is there any rest in my bones
11:37My reason of my sin
11:41For my wickedness has gone on my head
11:48And the light has so burned
11:53Too heavy for me to bear
11:58I will seek and utter hurt
12:05Through my foolishness
12:10I am brought into so great trouble and misery
12:19That I go mourning all the day long
12:26Till my joints are filled with us for disease
12:34And there is no robot in my body
12:41I am evil and so unspoken
12:49I have wrought all the very disfired deaths of my heart
13:01Lord, I know it's all my desire
13:07And my glory is not here from me
13:14My heart burns and my strength have failed me
13:21And the sight of mine eyes is gone from me
13:28My love and my name is gone from me
13:35And looking upon my trouble
13:38And my kings and school of the home
13:45May also that your love have my life made spread for me
13:53And they that went about to me
13:58And imagine me see it all the day long
14:10And am I
14:17And the soul that is dove
14:23Am I
14:29And the soul that is dove
14:35and in whose mouth
14:39on your great rules.
14:43For in me, O Lord,
14:47have I not my trust,
14:51but shall answer
14:53for me, O Lord,
14:55my God.
14:58I have been quite
15:00a day,
15:01even my name,
15:02where he shall not
15:04triumph over me.
15:08For in my first sin,
15:11they rejoice greatly
15:14against me.
15:19And I truly
15:21am set in the grave
15:24of my heaviness
15:29is ever in my sight.
15:34For I will confess
15:37my weakness
15:40and be sorry
15:43for my sin.
15:48But my heaven is
15:51thin and almighty,
15:53and may I take
15:57me wrong for me
15:59are many in number.
16:04May for
16:05so that
16:06there will be
16:07in the world
16:09how I can see
16:11because I
16:14follow
16:15and take
16:16that
16:17joy.
16:21O Savior,
16:23O Lord,
16:24O Lord,
16:25my God,
16:27in God
16:29above
16:29from me,
16:33praise me
16:34to help me,
16:38O Lord,
16:39God,
16:40of my salvation.
16:46glory be to the
16:50Father,
16:52and to the Son,
16:55and to the Holy Ghost,
16:59as it was in the beginning,
17:03is now and ever shall be,
17:08woe without end.
17:17Amen.
17:29I said I will take thee to my ways,
17:35that I'll tend not in my tongue,
17:42I will keep my mouth,
17:45as it's warm with a cry,
17:50while the upon me is in my sight.
17:58I held my tongue and speak not,
18:03I kept silenced even from good words,
18:12but it was pain and grief to me.
18:19My heart was halted in me,
18:23and while I was just muting,
18:28I'll talk to you,
18:33and at the last I've stayed with my tongue.
18:43All that's before my end,
18:47and the number of my days,
18:52that I really search in thy tongue,
18:56and I have to live.
19:01The order has made my days,
19:04as it were,
19:06but stand long,
19:11and my name did he not love him
19:15in respect of me,
19:18and very every man live
19:22in his altogether vanity.
19:30All that walketh in our way,
19:33And his quieteth himself in vain,
19:42He will be the righteous
19:46There is a devil's devil shall come.
19:52But doubt what is my hope,
19:59slowly my heart may see for within.
20:08Feel the need from all thine offenses,
20:16and make me not a rebuke,
20:21but I'm sure I'll have to.
20:26I became dumb and opened not my mouth,
20:33for it was I who will.
20:42Take thy plague away from thee,
20:48I am in control by the means of thy heavy hand.
20:56When thou been renewed such chastened land of sin,
21:03Thou makest his beauty to consume away,
21:09Like as it's a cross that's in the cross,
21:18Every man there for his world's vanity.
21:27Hear my prayer, O Lord, and with thine ears consider my thought.
21:39O Lord, my peace and my tears,
21:46For I am a stranger with thee,
21:53And the star that I have on my heart that I,
22:04O spare me a little that I may recover my strength,
22:13Before I could dance and be no more sea.
22:29Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost,
22:42As it was in the beginning,
22:47Is now and ever shall be,
22:54Love without any more.
23:17I raised in patience before the Lord,
23:23And he climbed unto me and had my tongue
23:32He brought me also up to the horrible fields
23:39Bounds of the mud and rain
23:45And set my feet upon the rock and ordered my calling
23:53And kneel and hold a new song in my love
24:02Even earth and steaming unto our love
24:09May ye shall see it and see
24:17And shall put that trust in the Lord
24:25Yes, it is the man that has set his hope in the Lord
24:33And turned not unto the crowd
24:37And to search as go about with light
24:44O Lord, my God, great are the wondrous laws which thou hast come
24:52Life has been also thy clothes which are through us
24:59And yes, there is no man that all the heaven comes to me
25:10If I should be clever and seek of them
25:17They should be more than I am able to express
25:27Sacrifice and be torn in the wilderness
25:34But my marriage has gone
25:42And all things and sacrifice for sin
25:47And as I am not with light
25:52And save thy law I have
25:57In your volume of the book it is written on me
26:04That I should fulfill my will
26:08O my God, I am content to do it, yea, my God is within my heart.
26:23I have declared my righteousness in my great congregation.
26:32Lord, I will not yet break my lips, O Lord, and let Thou rise.
26:42I am not yet my righteousness within my heart.
26:51My tongue hath been on my tooth, and on thy salvation.
27:00I am not yet my love in mercy and truth, from the credence of creation.
27:17If draw not thou thy mercy from me, O Lord, let thy loving thy cares and thy truth away preserve
27:33me.
27:35For in your world's troubles are covered by me, my sins have taken such hold upon me, that I am
27:51not able to look out.
27:56Yea, they are more in number than thy heads on my head, and my heart shall fail to me.
28:08O Lord, let it be my pleasure to deliver me, make his heart look to help me.
28:22Let them be a shame that come come and to bear, and seek out of my soul to destroy it.
28:36For in their acho, I am not able to say, may I am not able to see you.
29:06that seek me, be joyful and glad in me.
29:14And let such as love thy salvation
29:18save all day the Lord be praised.
29:24As for me I am low and ready,
29:29but I am not yet for me.
29:38Thou art my help as I may see now,
29:45make love to stand in love, my God.
29:54Glory be to the Father,
29:59and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost,
30:06as he's lost in the beginning,
30:10is now and ever shall be,
30:15all with us end.
30:23Amen.
30:36The Gospel according to Saint John, chapter 18.
30:42When he had said these things,
30:44Jesus went out with his disciples across the Kidron Valley.
30:49There was an orchard there,
30:52and he and his disciples went into it.
30:56Now Judas, the one who betrayed him,
30:58knew the place too,
30:59because Jesus had met there many times with his disciples.
31:05So he obtained a squad of soldiers
31:07and some officers of the chief priests and Pharisees.
31:11They came to the orchard with lanterns, torches and weapons.
31:18Then Jesus, because he knew everything that was going to happen to him,
31:22came and asked them,
31:24Who are you looking for?
31:27They replied,
31:28Jesus, the Nazarene.
31:31He told them,
31:33I am he.
31:35Now Judas, the one who betrayed him,
31:37was standing there with them.
31:41So when Jesus said to them,
31:43I am he,
31:44they retreated and fell to the grave.
31:48Then Jesus asked them again,
31:50Who are you looking for?
31:53They said,
31:54Jesus, the Nazarene.
31:57Jesus replied,
31:58I told you, I'm he.
32:00If you're looking for me,
32:02let these men go.
32:04He said this to fulfill the word he had spoken.
32:07I have not lost a single one of those whom you gave me.
32:13Then Simon Peter,
32:14who had a sword,
32:15pulled it out and struck the high priest's slave,
32:19cutting off his right ear.
32:22Now the slave's name was Melchus.
32:26But Jesus said to Peter,
32:27Put your sword back into its sheath.
32:30Am I not to drink the cup that my father has given me?
32:36Then the squad of soldiers and their commanding officer
32:39and the officers of the Jewish leaders
32:40arrested Jesus and tied him up.
32:44And they took him first to Annas,
32:46for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas,
32:49the high priest for that year.
32:53Now it was Caiaphas
32:54who had advised the Jewish leaders
32:56that it was to their advantage
32:58that one man die for the people.
33:03Simon Peter and another disciple
33:05followed them
33:05as they brought Jesus to Annas.
33:09Now the other disciple
33:10was acquainted with the high priest
33:12and he went with Jesus
33:13into the high priest's courtyard.
33:16But Simon Peter
33:18was left standing outside by the door.
33:22So the other disciple
33:24who was acquainted with the high priest
33:25came out
33:26spoke to the slave girl
33:28who watched the door
33:30and Peter was brought inside.
33:33The girl who was the doorkeeper
33:35said to Peter,
33:36You're not one of this man's disciples too,
33:39are you?
33:40He replied,
33:41I am not.
33:44Now the slaves and the guards
33:46were standing around a charcoal fire
33:47they had made,
33:48warming themselves
33:49because it was cold.
33:52Peter also
33:52was standing with them
33:54warming himself.
33:57While this was happening
33:58the high priest
33:59questioned Jesus
34:00about his disciples
34:01and about his teaching.
34:04Jesus replied,
34:06I have spoken publicly
34:07to the world.
34:09I always taught
34:10in the synagogues
34:11and in the temple courts
34:12where all the Jewish people
34:14assemble together.
34:16I have said nothing
34:18in secret.
34:19So why do you ask me?
34:21Ask those who heard
34:23what I said.
34:23They know
34:24what I said.
34:26When Jesus had said this
34:28one of the high priest's officers
34:30who stood nearby
34:31struck him on the face
34:33and said,
34:34Is that the way you answered
34:35the high priest?
34:38Jesus replied,
34:39If I have said something wrong
34:41confirm what is wrong
34:43but if I spoke correctly
34:46why strike me?
34:48Then Annas
34:49sent him
34:50still tied up
34:51to Caiaphas
34:52the high priest.
34:55Meanwhile
34:56Simon Peter
34:56was standing
34:57in the courtyard
34:58warming himself.
35:00They said to him
35:01You aren't one
35:02of his disciples
35:03too
35:04are you?
35:06Peter denied it
35:08I am not.
35:11One of the high priest's
35:13slaves
35:13a relative
35:14of the man
35:15whose ear
35:15Peter had cut off
35:16said
35:18Didn't I see you
35:19in the orchard
35:20with him?
35:21Peter denied it again
35:23and immediately
35:24the rooster
35:25crowed.
35:27This
35:27is the word
35:28of the Lord
35:30Thanks be to God.
35:37Collect for Peace
35:39O God
35:40who is the author
35:41of peace

35:59may not fear
36:01the power

36:04of Jesus Christ
36:05our Lord
36:06Amen
36:11Collect for
