04:20Now, when these things had been completed,
04:22the leaders approached me and said,
04:24The people of Israel, the priests and the Levites have not separated themselves from the local residents
04:32who practice detestable things, similar to those of the Canaanites,
04:38the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites,
04:41the Ammonites, Moabites, Egyptians, and the Amorites.
04:46Indeed, they have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and for their sons,
04:52so that the holy race has become intermingled with the local residents.
04:59Worse still, the leaders and the officials have been at the forefront of all this.
05:05When I heard this report, I tore my tunic and my robe
05:09and ripped some of the hair from my head and beard.
05:14Then I sat down, quite devastated.
05:19Everyone who held the words of the Lord of Israel in awe
05:23gathered around me because of the unfaithful acts of the people in the exile.
05:32Devastated, I continued to sit there until the evening offering.
05:38At the time of the evening offering, I got up from my self-abasement
05:43with my tunic and robe torn and dropped to my knees
05:47and spread my hands to the Lord, my God.
05:50I prayed,
05:52O my Lord God, I am ashamed and embarrassed to lift my face to you, my God.
05:58For our iniquities have climbed higher than our heads
06:02and our guilt extends to the heavens.
06:07From the days of our fathers until this very day,
06:10our guilt has been great.
06:13Because of our iniquities, we, along with our kings and priests,
06:18have been delivered over by the local kings to sword,
06:22captivity, plunder and embarrassment,
06:27right up to the present time.
06:30But now briefly we have received mercy from the Lord our God
06:34in that he has left us a remnant
06:36and has given us a secure position in his holy place.
06:42Thus our Lord has enlightened our eyes
06:44and has given us a little relief in our time of servitude.
06:49Although we are slaves,
06:51our God has not abandoned us in our servitude.
06:56He has extended kindness to us
06:58in the sight of the kings of Persia,
07:01in that he has revived us
07:03to restore the temple of our God
07:06and to raise up its ruins,
07:08giving us a protective wall in Judah and to Jerusalem.
07:14And now, what are we able to say after this, our God?
07:18For we have forsaken your commandments
07:21which you commanded us
07:22through your servants, the prophets,
07:24with these words.
07:27The land that you are entering to possess
07:29is a land defiled by the impurities of the local residents.
07:35With their abominations,
07:37they have filled it from one end to the other
07:39with their filthiness.
07:42Therefore, do not give your daughters
07:44in marriage to their sons
07:46and do not take their daughters in marriage for your sons.
07:51Do not ever seek their peace or welfare
07:54so that you may be strong
07:56and eat the good of the land
07:58and may leave it as an inheritance
08:01for your children forever.
08:04Everything that has happened to us
08:07has come about because of our wicked actions
08:09and our great guilt.
08:12Even so, our God,
08:13you have exercised restraint
08:15towards all our iniquities
08:17and have given us a remnant such as this.
08:22Shall we once again break your commandments
08:25and intermarry with these abominable peoples?
08:29Would you not be so angered by us
08:31that you would wipe us out
08:33with no survivors or remnant?
08:37O Lord God of Israel,
08:39you are righteous,
08:40for we are left as a remnant this day.
08:43Indeed, we stand before you in our guilt.
08:48However, because of this guilt,
08:50no one can really stand before you.
08:56This is the word of the Lord.

24:57because the man on whom this miraculous sign of healing had been performed was over 40 years old
25:08when they were released peter and john went to their fellow believers and reported everything the high
25:14priests and the elders had said to them when they heard all this they raised their voices to god with

25:22mind and said master of all you who made the heaven the earth the sea and everything that is in

25:30who said by the holy spirit through your servant david our forefather

26:11now lord pay attention to their threats and guarantee your servants to speak your message with great courage
26:19while you extend your hand to heal and to bring about miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your

26:30when they had prayed the place where they were all assembled together was shaken and they were filled
26:38with the holy spirit speaking the word of god courageously this is the word of the lord thanks be to
26:49god
26:54and collect for peace
26:57o god who is the author of peace and lover of concord
27:02in knowledge of whom stands our eternal life whose service is perfect freedom
27:08defend us your humble servants in all assaults of our enemies
27:13that we surely trusting in your defense may not fear the power of any adversaries
27:21through the might of jesus christ our lord amen
27:29collect for our safe preservation
27:32o lord our heavenly father almighty and everlasting god who has safely brought us to the beginning of this day
27:40defend us in the same with your mighty power and grant that this day we fall into no sin
27:48neither run into any kind of danger but that all our doings may be ordered
27:54by your governance to do always that which is righteous in your sight through jesus christ our lord amen
28:08lord let me accept calmly all that this day might bring me and let me devote myself completely to your

28:19direct me and help me each hour of this day control my thoughts and feelings in all my deeds and

28:28when unpredictable circumstances arise do not let me forget that everything comes from you
