Lift Door Opens, Woman Plunges to Death: 13-Month-Old Grandson Injured

A 58-year-old woman lost her life and her 13-month-old grandson was injured in a tragic lift-related accident at an apartment complex in Hyderabad's Khairatabad area, fire officials said.

The incident occurred at Bhavana Apartments in Anand Nagar Colony, following which the Amberpet Fire and Rescue Team rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations.

According to preliminary findings, the woman, identified as Radha, was on the fifth floor when she allegedly opened the lift door before the elevator had arrived.

The door reportedly opened unexpectedly, causing her to fall through the lift shaft to the first floor. She suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

Her 13-month-old grandson, Jeol, who was with her at the time, sustained injuries and was shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Fire and rescue personnel conducted the operation under the supervision of senior officials.

Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the accident and to determine how the lift door opened before the elevator reached the floor.
