00:00Let's check in with Rochelle for more on tonight's weather forecast.
00:03Thank you, Disha. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago. I hope you guys had a great weekend.
00:08Speaking of the weekend, here's what happened. The UAE Seismic Retail Center recorded two
00:14earthquakes in the Eastern Caribbean on the 29th and 30th of May, with a magnitude 5.0 earthquake
00:21occurring on the 29th at 8.31 p.m., with its epicenter located between Grenada and Trinidad
00:28and Tobago, at a depth of 113 kilometers. This was followed by a magnitude 6.0 earthquake
00:36on the 30th at 5.27 p.m., located north of Barbados. No injuries were reported. And here's what
00:43else happened over the weekend. Saturday's rain and thunderstorms caused by a weak tropical
00:49wave moving across the Eastern Caribbean. The system brought showers, isolated thunderstorms,
00:55gusty winds, and cloudy conditions. But its impact was limited by Saharan dust in the atmosphere,
01:02which helped reduce the extent of heavy rainfall. So we can thank our good old friend Sahara for that.
01:08Now, staying on the topic of weather systems, today is June 1st, so that means today marks the official
01:15start of the Atlantic hurricane season. With that in mind, here's another look at the Atlantic hurricane
01:21season names for 2026. Moving on now to what we can't expect tonight. Tonight will be fair to party
01:34cloudy, hazy, and at times breezy, with isolated showers and minimum temperatures at 25 degrees
01:40in Trinidad and 26 in Tobago. And tomorrow will give us mostly hot, hazy, and breezy conditions
01:46that will be interrupted by isolated showers, with daytime temperatures of 33 degrees in Trinidad and 32
01:53in Tobago. Now, although tomorrow is expected to be hot, we will get that gloomy, hazy finish as a
02:01moderate to high concentration of Saharan dust is expected. So take all the necessary precautions.
02:08Looking ahead at the next two days, where Wednesday will give us hot but breezy conditions,
02:13interrupted by party cloudy intervals with rain, with southern Trinidad getting that low chance
02:19of a heavy shower. And for the Corpus Christi holiday, we will get some welcoming showers,
02:25some blessed seeds traditionally planted on this day. As the Met Office says, cloudy periods
02:30with occasional showers and a chance of heavy showers favoring Trinidad is expected.
02:35Now, tower sun times in Trinidad. Sunrise is at 542 and 538 in Tobago and sunset at 625 in Trinidad
02:44and 622
02:45in Tobago. And tower seas, seas will be moderate with waves 2 meters to 2.5 meters in open waters
02:51and near 1 meter, occasionally choppy in sheltered areas. It's now time for your tide times.
03:09Well, that's all for weather tonight. Your sports news is up next.
03:14Thank you very much, Rochelle. Coming up in sport, first defeat for Wendy's World Cup.
