00:19Fly Style is relaxed, luxury, and comfort, right?
00:23So I try to make things as easy as possible for my customers.
00:27So I have a lot of dresses, I have a lot of rumpers and sets, you know, just to make
00:33it easier to style and just ready to go.
00:36So the pieces, even though they may give a very casual vibe, you can always dress it up and look
00:43extremely fancy when you do so.
00:47But you can also dress it down and it also soothes that location.
00:51So I try my best to make it as versatile as possible.
00:55So with Fly Style, I try to keep things as creative and artsy as possible.
01:00So a lot of the techniques, some of the techniques would be screen printing, we have batik, we have crochet,
01:07we have knitting.
01:08We also have like very specific like construction techniques.
01:16So I would use like double stitching, I would use pin tucks, and I try to create images with these
01:24techniques.
01:25Like people don't usually use the machine to create images, but I try to do that.
01:29So for Fly Style, you can look for texture, you would always find some form of texture.
01:33So I try to design clothes that allows me to feel comfortable and I do things that are convenient.
01:42So I try to always put pockets in everything I do so you always have that versatility, practicality in your
01:50clothing.
01:51I use a lot of curtains so you don't feel warm and always sweating.
01:55I try to stay away from synthetic fibers all together because I feel like it doesn't help the environment, it
02:04doesn't help us personally.
02:06And as much as it might be beautiful to look at, it doesn't feel good on your body.
02:11And a big part of the brand is about feeling good in yourself and in everything, just feeling good.
02:18So I try to stay away from synthetic fabrics.
02:21I use mostly cottons, linens, and all different forms of cottons, rayons, denim is something that is one of my
02:30signature fabrics.
02:31Like in OEF collection, I've done so far, I've done three.
02:34And denim is something that you constantly see and I think it's something that you will constantly see.
02:40Because I like the versatility of denim, I like the fact that you don't have to eye on it.
02:43Because it's so easy, it's so easy to wear and it is durable, it lasts.
02:50So you know you're going to get a lot of usage from that.
02:53And that's something I consider for my customers.
02:55When they have a piece, when they purchase a piece from me, they could have it to give to their
02:59daughters or their granddaughters even.
03:02So Rebecca is wearing our sari, that's grandpa.
03:05It is one of the pieces that we do made to measure only.
03:10It's a corseted top, lace back.
03:13However, there is an invisible zip that makes it easy for you to put on without using the lace corset.
03:21She has pockets and of course two drawstrings to make it more funky and fun.
03:29This ramper can be worn long or short for a more casual look.
03:33Tell us about your upcoming collection.
03:35So my new collection is called Island Currents.
03:38I realized how significant the sea was for us and our Caribbean culture.
03:44And I just wanted to do a collection that plays on our water and the waves.
03:49And that's why I pull the colors.
03:51And I did the beads just to kind of bring back that nostalgia that I was feeling.
03:57So that's where I drew inspiration from for the collection.
04:02Okay, and when could we look forward to this?
04:05Okay, so I am doing a show this weekend called Blush, Bloom and Strengths.
04:10It's in Freepause at the Hosts.
04:13And this would be the first time that I introduce the collection to the public.
04:18And however, it would not be available for purchasing as yet.
04:22I will have them available, made to measure only, on my website that I will be launching soon.
04:30But FlyStyle is catered mainly for women because I feel like I can relate to women.
04:35I feel like we dress for women.
04:37We don't dress for men.
04:37Men don't understand.
04:39Like, they don't understand the effort that we're putting ourselves out there to feel good.
04:43And I just want to celebrate women.
04:46You know, and that's my motivation.
04:49Like, you know, like when you walk down the road and a woman stops you and say, you look so
04:53nice.
04:54It's so refreshing.
04:56Like, nobody cares for my day because you know it's genuine.
04:59And I love that.
05:00So I want to celebrate women all the time.
05:02And I couldn't have said it better myself.
05:04We definitely dress for ourselves because when we look good, we feel good.
