00:00All right, here's the latest from the Lions.
00:01Nolan Bianchi, Dan Campbell, speaking to the media, says Kirby Joseph, Brian Branch, and Sam LaPorta are all improving but
00:09not practicing during this week's offseason program.
00:12Again, Nolan Bianchi on Twitter, Campbell adds that seeing Joseph and LaPorta return to the practice field before training camp
00:19is not a priority.
00:21LaPorta's done some jog-through stuff.
00:24Quote, they're in meetings getting the mental side of stuff, end quote.
00:27Campbell says Tarion Arnold, who's coming off a season-ending shoulder injury and a handful of rookies won't practice, said
00:34the rookie stuff is a continuation of their philosophy from a year ago, not trying to wear guys out after
00:41they went through a ton of draft prep.
00:46Campbell on 2026 training camp, this will be the most competition we've had, in my opinion.
00:52On Penny Sewell, who's expected to move to left tackle next season, the talent speaks for itself.
00:57He's got all the intangibles.
00:59Campbell adds they don't take that for granted.
01:03Dan Campbell says he likes where Levi Anzarike's at, but is hesitant not to hype anybody up this time of
01:10year.
01:11Probably wise.
01:12Yeah, particularly with Levi Anzarike.
01:15So that all courtesy of Nolan Bianchi.
01:18Dan Campbell's meeting with the media.
01:20As there are more updates throughout the day, we will pass them on.
01:25All right, question for you and Kang.
01:29I went back and looked at our show sheet from one year ago today.
01:34We had a pretty prominent non-sports topic that was woven throughout our summer.
01:41Do you remember, have any guesses as to what we were speaking about, what we were talking about, non-sports
01:48related, one year ago today?
01:54Best beach in Michigan.
01:56Kang, any guesses?
01:58Where does up north begin?
02:03Has that been done before?
02:05By anybody in the state of Michigan?
02:08We should write that down.
02:09Well, we did it a decade ago.
02:12We were probably like the 500th show to do it.
02:16But yes, no, there was neither of those things.
02:20You guys can keep guessing or I can just tell you.
02:23I'd rather you just tell me.
02:24All right.
02:25Kang, any more guesses or do you want me to just tell you?
02:27One year ago today was day 13.
02:34French Quarter jailbreak on the run.
02:38There we go, yeah.
02:39Nice.
02:42The update one year ago today was that domestic abuse suspect Antoine T. Massey and four-time convicted killer Derek
02:50Groves, officials were announcing the arrest of Massey's sister, a 31-year-old woman, and two other women, all accused
03:02of helping the escaped inmates.
03:05Now, to revisit that story that we were talking about one year ago, the final fugitive, the winner, if you
03:11will, was Derek Groves.
03:13He stayed on the loose until October.
03:19So day 13.
03:21So this happened on May 16th.
03:24Our winner made it to October before he was apprehended in Atlanta.
03:30Day 147.
03:33That's a pretty good run.
03:34Yeah, it was rooting for and against them at the same time.
03:37Yeah, it was a really weird deal, wasn't it?
03:39100%.
03:39Right.
03:40Good thing they got him.
03:41Good thing.
03:41Two years ago, I did find a funny topic that we were talking about.
03:48I'm not going to make you guess this one.
03:50We were talking about how Tom Hanks sent a text to his son, quote,
03:53Can you explain the Drake-Kendrick Lamar feud to me?
03:59Which was funny, because then we started having people do the same thing.
04:04Text your kids and then text us their response.
04:08But yeah, Tom Hanks.
04:11Need an update on what the hell was going on there.
04:14I still don't understand the feud.
04:17There wasn't anything like this in the hair metal band world, Gator?
04:21Oh, no.
04:21There were feuds in hair and metal.
04:22All right, then.
04:23Let's go.
04:23What do we got?
04:24There we go.
04:25Do you got any good ones?
04:26Well, I mean, there was a whole Ozzy and Ronnie James Dio because Ozzy was fired from Black Sabbath
04:32and went out of his solo career, which worked out great for Ozzy.
04:37Dio took over with Black Sabbath, and Ozzy did not say some very nice things about Ronnie James Dio
04:45in the early going there.
04:47Is that right?
04:47Yeah, which was really unfortunate because they were two icons, absolute icons.
04:53Did they do any songs about each other?
04:55No, that stuff didn't happen.
04:57That happens in the rap game a lot.
04:59That is it.
05:00Right there, man.
05:01Ozzy Rose is Axl Rose in one of his songs off the Use Your Illusion albums.
05:05They released the two at the same time.
05:07He went after, I think it was Bob Guccione Jr. or something like that.
05:12He really went after one of the people in one of the songs.
05:15Really?
05:16Yeah.
05:16There's that.
05:17But no, it's nothing compared to the rap game.
05:19Are you kidding me?
05:20Wow, that's a blown opportunity if you ask me.
05:22The hair metal guys did not know what they were doing.
05:23This is free material, free publicity.
05:26The thing is, right, they didn't know, right?
05:27They didn't because, and then hair metal was gone, and then you get, and then Tupac is
05:32like, hang on, I got some stuff for you.
05:35And wow, what did I just hear?
05:38What?
05:38Okay, slow down.
05:39You know, then to get the whole, the award ceremony, what, East Coast got no love, so
05:46Snoop Dogg and all that, and it's unbelievable.
05:49I mean, that was the bigger one, but before that, NWA, EZ, you know, guys, Q.
05:53LL, Cool J, and Cool Moe D.
05:55There is.
05:55Woo!
05:56Hey, metal had nothing at it.
05:58How you like me now?
05:59Like, they went at each other.
06:01And, you know, I don't know what the beef, and I went, what started it.
06:05What's that?
06:05I don't recall metal artists doing it in songs.
06:08Yeah.
06:08Well, yes, blown opportunity.
06:12Yeah.
06:13But good stuff.
06:15Great drama.
06:17VH1 behind the music, man.
06:19That stuff was fun to watch.
06:21Stuff got serious.
06:22It sure did.
06:24Okay, so, this morning I'm watching Get Up.
06:28Jay Williams eviscerated Shea Gildress Alexander.
06:34He tried all he could to draw fouls last night, and the refs, there was a lot of ignoring him
06:41last night.
06:42Williams pointed out a number of possessions in the game that he turned, he said this about
06:50Oklahoma City, he said, it's not just SGA, it's everyone on their roster is turning every
06:57possession into a negotiation with the refs.
07:01Yep.
07:03And he said, SGA is my new life alert, I've fallen and I can't get a player.
07:10He proceeded to highlight plays where he was falling down, but then missing very makeable
07:18shots, including multiple layups.
07:21One where he wasn't even touched.
07:24Going down the lane, there were three players near him.
07:27He took a layup attempt that was a running one-hander down the middle of the lane, hit
07:32the ground, and fell, and Jay Williams, you could tell he's got some old school in him
07:40and he is disgusted by this.
07:43Then he pointed out the young bucks for the Spurs are playing through contact.
07:48Well, SGA is looking for contact and losing the plot, which is to put the ball in the basket.
07:58Now, you pointed out SGA's free throw statistics in this series?
08:02He's 52 out of 54 from the free throw line.
08:06That is insane.
08:08And that's with only going three for three last night.
08:10He only got to the line three times last night.
08:12The referees are not, they did at least last night, right?
08:16We know it's different game by game, but last night they were having none of it.
08:20I mean, honestly, when you start seeing if the game, and we talked about whether or not
08:26Adam Silver was going to do something about it, or would the officials try to do something
08:30about it, and I mentioned the game policing itself feels like something that the game
08:35should police itself.
08:36If the officials last night were part of a concerted effort, we're not falling for this
08:41crap, because the way that game was officiated makes you wonder, right?
08:46If the officials themselves are noticing all the criticism, and the reality is it's sort of
08:53a roundabout, maybe it's not a roundabout, but it feels like a roundabout criticism of
08:57the officials.
08:58We're sitting here blaming the players, but the players wouldn't do it if the officials
09:04weren't falling for the flops.
09:06Yeah, I mean, there's two reasons, right?
09:07You do it because you can get somebody off their game, getting the fouls against them.
09:15If they rack them up, they're going to be on the bench, and that's a bonus for your team
09:19to keep that other guy off the bench, or on the bench, and the other thing is, you get
09:23to the line, you get free throws, and if you make your free throws at a high rate, there
09:28you go, and this is a guy who's like an 87% free throw shooter in his career, but in
09:33the
09:33playoffs, this year, he's at 90%, so yeah, you can understand there's a reward there for
09:40him to go ahead and do that, and unfortunately, as he's doing this, it's taking basketball down
09:47with him because nobody likes it.
09:49There's a very small percentage of people out there, I think, that are in favor of this.
09:53Everybody else is like, this is bad for the game.
09:56Do you think there are people who are in favor of it?
09:58I think there are some.
09:59Would it only be Oklahoma City fans who are getting rewarded for it?
10:03I think, no, I think there are fans all over.
10:05There are some fans.
10:06I don't think it's a big percentage, like less than 5%, right?
10:08It's a small percentage, but I think some people are just of the mind, do whatever it
10:12takes to win, and if that means that I'm going to draw fouls to make that
10:16happen, then so be it.
10:18The difference between drawing fouls now and drawing fouls 30 years ago is that you
10:23earned it drawing those fouls 30 years ago.
10:26Now you're falling all over the floor just trying to create that attention where
10:31they're going to blow the whistle, but if you're getting to the line and you're
10:34scoring the points, you're helping your team win, and that's why it's being
10:38accepted, and it's awful.
10:39Yeah, I mean, I'm sure there are certain New York Knicks fan base that love Jalen
10:44Brunson, right, and they know that he embellishes a lot of calls, and maybe it's
10:48not to quite the degree of SGA, but it happened when we were playing Cleveland.
10:53Their fans were like, they love James Harden, right, all of a sudden when he's on
10:56your team and helping you win games, you look past it.
10:59This is why I thought it might be kind of a good thing for SGA to be highlighted and
11:03maybe against Brunson in the finals if they make it there, is that now everyone's
11:08eyeballs are on it, and you cannot ignore it if you're Adam Silver, is how much
11:12backlash you're getting from just the casual NBA fan, and you will have to
11:17eventually do something about it, at least behind the scenes.
11:19You're publicly not going to say anything.
11:20I know he said the other day, the officials are fantastic, the greatest in the
11:24world, but behind the scenes, you've got to be like, hey, these are being
11:27embellished.
11:28You have to be, there's a fine line, do not get fooled by the flop.
11:31Well, more and more attention is being brought to it, and it feels to me like it's
11:35become Jay Williams' crusade on Get Up Every Morning to point this out, and if the
11:42game, you know, a lot of times the toothpaste gets let out of the tube and it never
11:46goes back, it feels like this could go back, and maybe last night was an example
11:50of it being put back in the tube a little bit by the officials.
11:54Well, now you've got Game 7, right?
11:57This isn't like it's, you know, Game 43 on the season.
12:00This is Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals.
12:03I think there's a lot of pressure on the officials to make sure that they call
12:07it, you know, as even as they can, because this isn't about getting somebody
12:14back into a series or any of those conspiracy theories you have.
12:17This is literally who gets to play for a championship.
12:20I'm curious what people would think is the NBA narrative going into tomorrow
12:25night's game.
12:25What do you mean?
12:26Well, you know how people always have these conspiracy theories.
12:28Oh, they just wanted to get to a Game 7, or they want this team to win over that
12:32team.
12:32They want to showcase their MVPs, so they're going to be in favor.
12:36So what do you think is going to happen tomorrow night?
12:38So you, okay, for the people to believe that the NBA pulls the strings.
12:42Yeah, that there's a narrative.
12:43Okay.
12:43Okay.
12:44You're looking for what is the conspiracy theory regarding the Western Conference
12:47Finals?
12:48Yeah.
12:48Because now it's Game 7.
12:49Who does the league want to advance?
12:52Yeah.
12:52Or is it job done because we got into a Game 7?
12:56Okay.
12:56But if, like, the puppeteer.
12:58Yeah.
12:59How are they going to make this, play this one out?
13:01Because everybody thought this is the actual NBA championship going on in the
13:05Western Conference between these two teams.
13:07Yeah.
13:07And all that's waiting for them is a team that's won 11 straight games or whatever.
13:10But, yeah.
13:11Okay.
13:12Well, if anybody's got a conspiracy theory or a reason why they think the league
13:16is going to push San Antonio through or the league is going to push Oklahoma City
13:20through, be fascinated to hear these theories.
13:242, 4, 8, 5, 3, 9, 97, 97.
13:27It's Carson Anderson, 97-1.
