00:00And it should be noted that Jason was the person saying about two months ago it just makes no sense
00:10to put Sean Watson back out on the field.
00:14So the idea that Jason has come to this point I think tied in with the fact that there was
00:21so much positive coming out of Berea from the Browns beat and certainly the trio of beat reporters for Cleveland
00:27.com and the Plain Dealer.
00:28Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock, and Dan Lobby that I think you want to start looking for like what's real
00:35in this.
00:37I agree with Jason that it does feel like this has gone from well we'll see to it looks like
00:44right now Deshaun is ahead and after yesterday Deshaun might be considerably ahead.
00:50Yeah I guess we're trying to figure out what length that is like when you hear the coordinators talk yesterday
00:54and they're like well they're getting pretty even reps and pretty even splits and everything like that.
00:58Deshaun is still the guy that's first up when we do these things and so I don't know what I
01:02do know is that I will not be fooled again because I have in the past by Deshaun Watson having
01:07a good practice.
01:09Yeah well and I'm not that sucker at the poker table anymore.
01:12Like multiple good practices and I just keep trying to find a way like all right if they let's say
01:20you know we with mini camps coming up.
01:23So at the end of that they say well Deshaun's the starter for now what you know where are you
01:28and we're just in a weird spot where I know the perception for people is they've seen Shador more recently
01:36and they don't think Shador looked good last year.
01:39So by process of elimination Deshaun has to be the better quarterback I've seen both quarterbacks have a lot of
01:45objectionable moments in the recent times that I've seen either guy and so I do trust Munkin on this.
01:55I do trust Munkin that is pure in the idea of I want the best quarterback to whoever gives us
02:03the best chance to win is going to play.
02:05I do trust that that's what he wants.
02:07I think there's organizational oversight that could impact this and I think it's really early to be like I guess
02:14we just kind of have to name Deshaun the guy.
02:16Well and you can always put your finger on the scale if you want to tip it one way or
02:19another and that was one of the early tells I had in this that I not disappointed with Munkin but
02:23I feel like he is leaning one way or another is what was that a week and a half ago
02:29when he started talking about how he was looking at the Houston tape and not really the Browns tape of
02:34Deshaun Watson.
02:34If you want to find the good in Deshaun you can find the good in him.
02:37It's kind of like people in general right.
02:38You want to find the good in somebody you can you can find the good.
02:41You want to cover up the bad we can cover up the bad and with Deshaun if you want to
02:45believe that he's going to be great.
02:47Okay.
02:48All right.
02:48A lot of Browns fans have been there and done that got in the t-shirt.
02:51Munkin hasn't yet and so that's why I could easily see a scenario where he he plays this out Deshaun
02:57wins and then he has to learn the hard way.
02:58I think it's going to be really interesting to see.
03:01I just it's a little early for brown and orange colored glasses.
03:09I do think people got really excited about this team post the NFL draft once you kind of saw the
03:14big picture and play there understandably.
03:16So yeah, yeah, no, I mean the second straight draft where they just hit it out of the park and
03:19I think they had two straight really nice NFL off seasons.
03:22I think they've given themselves a chance, but I think it's going to be interesting because right now there's some
03:27momentum here.
03:29When I say momentum, what I mean is a lot of people that I really really trust because they're laying
03:35eyes on this and I'm not I'm trusting them.
03:39I'm taking them for their word that Deshaun looks better right now.
03:42I wonder how this is all going to play out once we get into training camp and we all start
03:47to just get get excited about football.
03:48If this is the same reality and you know Shador hasn't closed the gap, I'm really I'm just I'm curious
03:56how the quarterback position specifically.
04:00Whether people are going to rally rally around whoever's in the lead spot or whether they're still going to be
04:04a why that hey 21 guys that are going to start this year.
04:08I'm very confident and it's just that that that most important.
04:11I mean, am I am I wrong right now to just not have that much of a check on it?
04:15Because like if you think about it, Miles Garrett isn't even in attendance.
04:19It's not like he's going against the greatest defense in the world.
04:21Denzel Ward wasn't even there yesterday on Wednesday, you know, and it's not as if they're doing these really elaborate
04:2611 on 11.
04:28Like some things are 11 on 11, but a lot of the touchdowns for Deshaun came in seven on seven.
04:32Like it's not it's just not it's not anything close to what I think you see in a game right
04:36now.
04:37And so I just I just don't want to go crazy with it because the problem I have with Deshaun
04:40is that in game settings is where he melts down in game settings.
04:44Where it gets quick and it gets fast and you have to use your your decision making process.
04:48I think that's where Deshaun is really really awful in football games.
04:52His decision making process is miserable.
04:54And so like when things like that happen, that's where I want to see almost like a like a John
04:58Taffer stress test.
04:59Okay, I want to see that with Deshaun and I just I can't do that on May 28th.
05:05Yeah, it's not Deshaun's fault.
05:07He's got no opportunities to right these wrongs for me right now.
05:10Now I just can't do it yet in fairness, even if even if we're there at camp on July 29th,
05:15you really can't even do it on July.
05:16No, and that's where I feel like it might being unfair to Deshaun in this whole thing.
05:20I think I'm just looking at it like there's things he's got to prove to me on the football field.
05:24He can't prove that in May 28th.
05:26And so I'm stuck a little bit here because I don't know.
05:29I don't know exactly what to do.
05:30I can acknowledge that he's ahead of every way ahead of your door right now.
05:33There's an acknowledgement that's happening there, obviously, but I just because of the three years we've spent around Deshaun and
05:39watch this whole cycle.
05:41He's the one guy.
05:42I just can't give the benefit of the doubt to in that regard.
05:44I do think that's what's I'm not confusing because I get it.
05:50I think that's what is interesting to me is how there is a segment of Browns fans who because it's
05:56been 18 months since we've seen unplayable Deshaun unhealthy Deshaun.
06:01Then it's almost like we're kind of doing a goldfish thing here where we just have the shortest memory ever
06:07and they're just wiping it away.
06:08And maybe that's where my problem is, too.
06:10These scars is just they're just a little too deep because we sit here and talk about it all day
06:14every day.
06:15Maybe if you're doing your nine to five and you're checking in with us through sports radio and you're there
06:20on Sundays, obviously.
06:21But I can't imagine how it's not deep for the fans out there.
06:24He wasted so many of your seasons.
06:26He wasted three seasons of Browns football.
06:29How can you have the memory of a goldfish with something like that?
06:32216-474-0092.
06:34Is Deshaun taking hold of the Browns starting quarterback job?
06:38PETA in a car.
06:40Welcome to the show, PETA.
06:43Hey, boys.
06:44How are you doing today?
06:45Good, buddy.
06:46Good to hear from you.
06:47Good to hear from you guys, too.
06:49It doesn't matter.
06:51It doesn't matter.
06:52I don't think Deshaun has a hold of anything.
06:54I think it should be – I think it's evenly split.
06:57I don't think – I don't think any of the reporters there, they can say what they want.
07:02But, I mean, they're not coaches.
07:04They're not the head coach of the team.
07:07I don't think it matters.
07:08It doesn't matter now.
07:09It doesn't matter until training camp.
07:11And even then it doesn't matter.
07:12All that matters is they're both going to play this season.
07:16They're both going to play this season.
07:18All I care is that we get some wins and that the young core gets better
07:23and the young guys we drafted show that they're drafted at the right spot
07:30and that the core congeals more.
07:33And, again, they get more seasoning and they get better
07:36because this ain't going to be the season.
07:38It doesn't matter who starts.
07:40They're both going to start.
07:41They're both going to get a shot.
07:42So – and I understand you guys need to talk about it.
07:45It's your job, so it's hard to avoid.
07:47But, like, it doesn't matter now.
