As the West Indies get ready for next month's bilateral series against Sri Lanka, fast-bowling consultant Ottis Gibson is impressed with the pacers at the current training camp in Antigua.

Added to that, he says the talent in the Caribbean is there, but it must be nurtured properly.

00:01Otis Gibson played two test matches and 15 ODIs for the West Indies and also went on to become head
00:07coach.
00:08Now 57, he's with the men in Maroon as a fast bowling consultant as the team prepares for a bilateral
00:13series against Sri Lanka.
00:15Look, it's obviously great to be here, back sort of assisting in West Indies cricket again.
00:22This morning was interesting just meeting some of the guys, especially the bowlers, talking to the bowlers.
00:30So trying to understand from them, especially leading up to the series, what it is that they want to get
00:34out of the series before the tournament starts, things that they need to work on to get better at.
00:39Gibson is currently in the training camp in Antigua, where the players are making the necessary preparations for the international
00:45series.
00:46So far, he's been satisfied with the fast bowlers.
00:49There's some good young players here. The one thing I see that I like already is that they've got the
00:54physicality.
00:54There's some good tall, strong boys. You know, they just have to have the, you know, the capacity and the
01:00will and the desire to bowl fast. Fast bowling is obviously tough on the body.
01:04So they'll need to, they'll need to look after things like the fitness and stuff like that.
01:09But they've got the physicality required for the job.
01:12It's no secret that West Indies cricket is no longer what it was a few decades ago.
01:16Whatever the case, Gibson says the Caribbean is loaded with talent.
01:20I've travelled the world. I don't think talent-wise, you know, there's still a lot of talent here.
01:26It's just how we nurture the talent and get the best out of the talent to still be able to
01:30produce at the international stage.
01:32And if I can add anything over the next couple of weeks that gives them, you know, confidence to go
01:39out and perform, then that's my role.
01:42The Wendy's start off with three ODIs against Sri Lanka starting June 3rd in Jamaica.
