00:00The Trinidad and Tobago women's national team returned home after winning the Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association Senior Championship title.
00:08They defeated Barbados 3-1 in a thrilling final in the Bahamas.
00:12Head coach Dion Hutchinson was honored to lead the red, white and black to success and to also prove the doubting Thomases wrong.
00:19Taking the position, there was a lot of banter, there was a lot of naysayers about my competency as the coach.
00:28Even though I've won so many titles in Trinidad, the talk was there.
00:34So I wanted to silence the noise by not talking, but delivering this trophy to Trinidad.
00:44According to Hutchinson, the country must have resources to compete with the best teams in the world.
00:50As such, he made a request to government for assistance.
00:53We need a home for volleyball.
00:58We are not going to be able to compete with the powerhouses of USC and Canada and Costa Rica and those other teams until we actually get a home.
01:10I am willing to invest more than 75% or about 75% of the funds to build our indoor facility.
01:17And all I am asking the government to do is give me 25% and I am asking for plenty.
01:21Captain Delicia Pierre too could not be left out.
01:24She was elated and also grateful to coach Hutchinson following the team's success.
01:29Dion, thank you for everything.
01:33You know, you've been in my life since I've been, what, 13 years old.
01:37And now, you know, I'm older about, what, 15 years later.
01:41And then some.
01:43You know, and we're still here.
01:46You know, Cheyenne, Destiny, Kailan, Alyssa, Aliyah, and all the other ladies who aren't here right now.
01:53Like, really and truly, I just, I really, really, really, from the bottom of my heart, Crystal, Shannon, thank you.
02:00Thank you for holding it together.
02:01Some of the players who were not available for the tournament will still be considered for future matches.
02:07Vinod Nawani, Chiefs Export.
