04:21When Sanballat, Tobiah,
04:24Jeshem, the Arab,
04:25and the rest of our enemies
04:26heard that I had rebuilt the wall,
04:29and no breach remained within it,
04:32even though at that time
04:33I had not positioned doors in the gates,
04:37Sanballat and Jeshem sent word to me, saying,
04:40Come on, let us set a time and meet together at Kepirim on the plain of Onor.
04:47Now they intended to do me harm.
04:51So I sent messengers to them, saying,
04:53I am engaged in an important work,
04:56and I am unable to come down.
04:58Then, why should the work come to a halt
05:01when I leave it to come down to you?
05:05They contacted me four times in this way,
05:07and I responded the same way each time.
05:13The fifth time that Sanballat sent his assistant to me in this way,
05:17he had an open letter in his hand,
05:20and written in it were the following words,
05:24Among the nations it is rumoured,
05:27and Jeshem has substantiated this,
05:29that you and the Jews have intentions of revolting,
05:33and for this reason you are building the wall.
05:37Furthermore, according to these rumours,
05:39you are going to become their king.
05:42You have already established prophets
05:45to announce in Jerusalem on your behalf.
05:47We have a king in Judah.
05:51Now the king is going to hear about these rumours.
05:54So come on, let us talk about this.
06:00I sent back word to them.
06:03We are not engaged in these activities you describe.
06:07All of this is a figment of your imagination.
06:14All of them were wanting to scare us,
06:16supposing their hands will grow slack from the work,
06:20and it won't get done.

07:11for he had spoken the prophecy against me
07:13as a hired agent of Tobiah and Sanballat.
07:18He had been hired to scare me,
07:20so that I would do this and thereby fall into sin.
07:24This would bring reproach upon me,
07:26and I would be discredited.
07:30Remember, O my God,
07:32Tobiah and Sanballat
07:33in the light of these actions of theirs.
07:37Also,
07:37Noah-diah the prophetess,
07:39and the other prophets
07:40who were trying to scare me.
07:45So the wall was completed
07:46on the 25th day of Elul,
07:48in just 52 days.
07:52When our enemies hurt,
07:53and all the nations who were round about us
07:55saw this,
07:56they were greatly disheartened,
07:58for they knew that their work
07:59had been accomplished
08:00with the help of our God.
08:05In those days,
08:06the aristocrats of Judah
08:09repeatedly sent letters to Tobiah,

24:20They came and they took him before the Sanhedrin,
24:23getting false witnesses who said,
24:26This man is forever saying things against this holy place and against the law.
24:32For he has said things in our hearing,
24:35that this Jesus of Nazareth will put this place to destruction
24:39and make changes in the rules which were handed down to us by Moses.
24:46All those who were in the Sanhedrin, looking at him,
24:50saw that his face was like the face of an angel.
24:55This is the word of the Lord.
