00:00Rounds of showers and thunderstorms the rest of this week from Texas toward the Mid-South.
00:06Now, this time of the year, two things are true when you get rain and thunderstorms.
00:11Severe weather and flash flooding.
00:14It's more of the cumulative effect of days of rain that will cause some problems with flash flooding.
00:20Let's talk about the severe weather.
00:22I don't think we're looking at outbreaks of severe weather, but there's at least going to be some severe weather.
00:27We'll begin Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night.
00:30The threat area is going to be West Texas toward the Rio Grande Valley.
00:33And in this part of the United States, two things are always true here as well.
00:38Damaging winds and hail, there can be some flash flooding as well.
00:41Now, tomorrow, as we head into our Thursday, we start talking about East Texas and the Central Gulf Coast states.
00:50Wind and flash flooding are going to be the main impacts.
00:55Now, it's not only wet the rest of this week, but moving forward in the next week, I don't see
01:02much change.
01:03Look at the jet stream.
01:04You have a big dip in the jet stream in the western United States, and that will extend into Texas.
01:09That means you're going to get a Gulf flow.
01:12That also means you're going to get Pacific moisture, and that means more rain and thunderstorms coming next week.
01:17The bad news, there's going to be bouts of severe weather next week as well, and there's going to be
01:23flash flooding.
01:24But the good news, I think by the end of this pattern next week, the drought that we have across
01:29Texas and the Central Gulf Coast states, a lot of that is going to be wiped away.
01:34The good news, I think by the end of this pattern next week, the drought that we have across Texas,
01:34a lot of that is going to be wiped out of Texas, a lot of that is going to be
01:34wiped out of Texas, a lot of that is going to be wiped out of Texas.
