Bernie Rayno takes a look at multiple storms set to bring rain, flooding and heavy snow to California.

00:00There's something unusual going on in California and it's a good thing. For the last several years
00:06we've had adequate water supply. The best way to measure that is to take a look at the reservoir
00:12levels and even now all of the reservoirs are at or above historical averages including the two
00:18biggest reservoirs Shasta and Oroville. And certainly so far this winter season we've had
00:25adequate rainfall. In fact we don't have any drought across California right now. But there's
00:31a hidden danger and it comes in the form of snowfall. The Sierra snowpack is averaging well below
00:38historical averages and this is important because during the spring and summer months this is the
00:43way in which we keep the reservoirs stocked full of water. Snow melt. And if the snowpack is running
00:49below normal we could start to eat away at those reservoir levels. There is some good news though
00:56and bad news. We have a series of storms on the way. Take a look at the Pacific. Two storms
01:01highlighted
01:02and there's more on the way. And all of these storms will be coming into California beginning Sunday
01:08and lasting at least into the middle part of next week. And it could go on into next weekend. Rain,
01:15flooding, heavy snow will cause some major travel delays. But these storms will have the ability
01:23to do what? Produce heavy amounts of snow in the Sierra which will restrict travel but also help
01:30with the snowpack which down the road will keep those reservoirs filled through the summer months.
