Bernie Rayno breaks down when and where the rain will fall.
Transcript
00:00Rain is finally on the way for the part southeast.
00:04Friday night into the weekend, waves of rain and thunderstorms will soak the region and welcome sight.
00:10After weeks and months of abnormally dry to exceptional drought conditions,
00:14in fact, much of the landscape has turned into a tinderbox,
00:18fueling thousands of brush fires, some growing large enough to force evacuations in parts of Florida and Georgia.
00:26And the numbers don't lie when it comes to the drought.
00:28Take a look at these cities, where we are as far as rainfall since January 1st
00:35and where we should be as we close out the month of April.
00:39Those are the numbers.
00:40Now let me show you the area.
00:43That dark brown area is exceptional drought, the highest level of drought that you can see.
00:49And it's no wonder that most of the fires have been across southern Georgia.
00:54But relief is on the way.
00:56Hey, look at that upper low off the California coast and all of that tropical moisture coming across Texas.
01:02And eventually that's heading into the southeast.
01:05And while there can be pockets of severe weather, this is mostly going to be rain.
01:11Now, while the heaviest rain is across Texas and the Central Gulf Coast states,
01:15there will be a soaking rain across the southeast in the Saturday night.
01:20Florida misses out on the rain Saturday.
01:22But by Sunday, there will at least be some drenching thunderstorms across south Florida.
