Bernie Rayno takes a look at when and where the rain will fall.
Transcript
00:00Florida is finally getting some much-needed rain. In fact, some spots across Florida,
00:05especially the peninsula, will see close to a month's worth of rain in just a few days.
00:11Meanwhile, farther north, no end to the drought as it stays dry.
00:16Take a look at the drought monitor. You'll notice a lot of the southeast is in at least moderate or
00:23if not severe drought, but the core of the drought is across Florida, especially north Florida.
00:29Now, the good news is we have a frontal boundary that has stalled out across Florida.
00:34Look at all of the moisture in the water vapor loop coming from the Gulf of Mexico right across the
00:39Florida Peninsula.
00:41Drier air will be arriving later on this week, but at least for the next couple of days,
00:45there's going to be numerous showers and thunderstorms. Now, for Florida, when it rains, it pours,
00:51and there's going to be enough downpours that, yes, it will help with the drought conditions,
00:57but it can produce localized floodings, and there's certainly going to be major travel delays
01:02over the next couple of days. But while it rains in Florida, farther north across the Carolinas,
01:09in Georgia and Alabama where it's already dry, it's only going to get drier this week as it remains sunny,
01:16and there will be no precipitation.
