00:22:09He sat down at the right hand of God

00:22:19For while the one offering he has perfected for all time those who are made holy

00:23:20In the insurance of the faith that it brings

00:24:02No further sacrifice for sin is left for us
00:24:07But only a certain fearful expectation of judgment

00:24:17Someone who rejected the law of Moses was put to death without mercy
00:24:20On the testimony of two or three witnesses
00:24:25How much greater punishment do you think that person deserves
00:24:29Who has contempt for the Son of God
00:24:32Profaning the blood of the covenant that made him holy
00:24:34And insulting the spirit of grace
00:24:38For we know the one who said

00:24:49It is a terrifying thing

00:24:59When you endured a harsh conflict of suffering

00:25:05At times you were publicly exposed to abuse and afflictions
00:25:09And at other times you came to share with others
00:25:11Who were treated in that way
00:25:15For in fact you shared the suffering of those in prison
00:25:17You accepted the confiscation of your belongings with joy
00:25:22Because you knew that you certainly had a better and lasting possession
00:25:27So do not throw away your confidence
00:25:30Because it has great reward
00:25:33For you need endurance in order to do God's will
00:25:35And so to receive that which is promised
00:25:40For just a little longer and he who is coming will arrive and not delay
00:25:45But my righteous one will live by faith
00:25:48And if he shrinks back I take no pleasure in him
00:25:53But we are not among those who shrink back and so perish
00:25:57But we are among those who have faith and preserve their souls
00:26:03This is the word of the Lord

00:26:21The value of the studying of Leviticus and of the law to the Christian
00:26:25Is that it foreshadows the work of Jesus Christ
00:26:29The offering of Jesus Christ
00:26:32And the high priestly nature of Jesus Christ
00:26:36The shadow is not the substance
00:26:40Paul tells us this in Colossians 2
00:26:42Where Christ through his death blotted out the handwriting
00:26:45And the ordinances that were against us
00:26:48Nailing them to his cross
00:26:50And triumphing over them in it
00:26:55So don't let any man judge you in respect of meat
00:26:58Drink or new moons
00:26:59Or holy or sabbath days
00:27:01For these were all a shadow of the things to come
00:27:06But the substance is Christ
00:27:11So Christ standing here in this point in history
00:27:16His shadow was cast over the past
00:27:18The shadow of Christ is there in the law and in the sacrifices
00:27:23But you can see that they foreshadowed him
00:27:25But that they were only the shadow
00:27:29Jesus is the substance that casts the shadow
00:27:33And so there is real substance in Jesus
00:27:37These things only foreshadowed his coming
00:27:41Now that he has been
00:27:42They are no longer necessary
00:27:44No longer necessary to have the shadows
00:27:46For now we have indeed the substance in Jesus
00:27:52Verse 2 tells us
00:27:53For if they could have been perfect sacrifices
00:27:56That had put away the sins
00:27:59Then would they not have ceased to be offered
00:28:04In other words
00:28:05They would have done it once
00:28:06In the time of Moses
00:28:07And that would have been sufficient
00:28:09They wouldn't have to offer animals every day
00:28:12They wouldn't have to offer animals once a year
00:28:15In the Holy of Holies
00:28:17It would have been sufficient
00:28:18Had they been able to perfect man
00:28:25Because the worshippers
