00:00So let's get right to it.
00:01We'll start off with the biggest trade thus far
00:03in the National Basketball Association
00:04as Anthony Davis is changing destinations yet again
00:07from the Lakers to the Mavericks
00:09and now to the Washington Wizards.
00:11AD goes there along with Jaden Hardy,
00:13D'Angelo Russell, and Dante Exum.
00:16Mavericks get back.
00:17Chris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malachi Branham,
00:20Marvin Bagley III, two first-round draft picks,
00:23three second-round draft picks.
00:24So AD now going to Washington when he is healthy,
00:27when that will be, no one really knows for sure.
00:30The Golden State Warriors have also made a trade.
00:32They're acquiring Chris Stapp's Porzingis.
00:34It seems like a win-now trade for Golden State.
00:37We'll see if this carries them beyond
00:38the NBA's play-in game as of right now.
00:41Golden State's still in the playoff picture,
00:45but precariously sitting in a spot that could play them,
00:48put them in the play-in game.
00:49We'll see if this helps them as well.
00:51Oklahoma City has acquired Jared McCain for the time being.
00:55He is acquired from the 76ers for a 2026 Rockets first-round pick,
01:00three second-round picks.
01:02Also, Shea Gilgis-Alexander banged up a bit.
01:04We may not see him until after the All-Star break.
01:07In Major League Baseball, a bit of a surprise yesterday
01:09as the hot stove coming to a close.
01:12One or two more players yet to sign,
01:14but the biggest chip did fall yesterday.
01:16Frambois Valdez, a surprise.
01:18Detroit Tigers, three years, $115 million.
01:22So Valdez and Tarek Skubal at the top of that rotation for Detroit
01:27as they head into the 2026 season.
01:29Detroit awaiting the results of Skubal's arbitration hearing yesterday.
01:34We'll see what he ends up getting paid very shortly, by the way,
01:36in about an hour or two.
01:38Over to the NFL and over to the Super Bowl.
01:40Let's get to it.
01:41Drake May back on the practice field,
01:43full participant in practice as the Patriots prepare
01:46as four-and-a-half-point underdogs
01:48to potentially upset the Seattle Seahawks.
01:51Mike May yesterday gave the media an update on his status.
01:55Yeah, I'm feeling great.
01:55I'm so fortunate to be out here with these guys.
01:59We got a full week of practice.
02:00It felt good on Monday.
02:02I'm looking forward to getting back out there today and tomorrow and Friday
02:04and having a normal week.
02:05So looking forward to that and feeling good.
02:08Yes, it's Wednesday and Thursday of a game week.
02:11It's the two most important practice days.
02:14We got to be all hands on deck, fine-tune the details.
02:16And we already have a game plan in, but make sure we try to execute it
02:20and just fine-tune what we've been working on all season.
02:22And that's bringing our identity on the road.
02:24Having a chance to go in the Super Bowl and play at a high level
02:26in critical situations and in little things that know that during the game,
02:30little things are going to matter.
02:32Yeah, it sort of feels great.
02:33I wasn't limited on Monday, so I don't see any way I'd be limited today.
02:36I'm feeling good.
02:36Meanwhile, Sam Darnold dealing with an oblique injury
02:41didn't seem to affect him at all in the NFC Championship,
02:43and it has been two weeks.
02:45But Darnold weighing in on that injury as well.
02:48Yeah, I think, first of all, it feels really good.
02:51Definitely the time off has helped a little bit.
02:54But, yeah, I think I'm always just going to take it one step at a time,
02:58do my rehab, do everything I need to do to make sure it feels great
03:00going into practice and going into the game, obviously, on Sunday.
03:03But, yeah, it feels great.
03:07But, again, it's just one thing to add to the routine.
03:10And I think making sure I keep the routine the same as I would
03:13if we were in Seattle just practicing on a day-to-day basis here in the hotel
03:16is going to be very important this week.
03:19Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins introduced their new offensive coordinator.
03:22His name is Bobby Sloick.
03:23You may be familiar with him with different stops in the NFL.
03:27He was asked about the quarterback situation,
03:29and Tua Tungavailoa gave a pretty political answer.
03:32Essentially, Sloick's only been with the team a short period of time.
03:35Going to weigh some options, talk to the staff.
03:37I'll let you get the answer.
03:39Yes, I'd say, obviously, we're way early in the process of this whole thing
03:45with the new staff.
03:46There's new people everywhere being perfectly honest.
03:48We're still going through the staffing on my end.
03:53That hasn't quite been buttoned up yet.
03:56So we've still got some things going on there.
03:58So, like, the player evaluation mode, we're still in that also.
04:00There's a lot of new coaches that got to get to know the team.
04:03So even getting to the point where we're able to talk about who's going to be here,
04:09how are we going to do this, like, we haven't even got anywhere remotely close to that
04:12with the exception of knowing that we're going to try to push competition
04:16as often as we can at every single spot.
04:19But, you know, what I can say about Tua, just from being with him last year,
04:24I know last year was a difficult year.
04:26It was a difficult year for him, without a doubt, for a lot of different reasons.
04:30And I think what jumped out to me was, like, the grace he handled that with,
04:35the way he went about his daily routine through that season, even at the end of the year,
04:42the kind of person he was to everybody and to his teammates, really, I mean, that,
04:48you can't say enough about that, how good of a person he was
04:51and how he handled that situation is all you can ask for.
04:54And as I mentioned earlier, in the NBA, just to drive the point home here,
05:00it probably will be about two to three weeks before we know the situation
05:03with Shea Gilgis-Alexander, maybe that's why Oklahoma City making some trades.
05:07There it is, going to miss some time.
05:09NBA's MVP still will qualify, by the way, for the NBA's MVP if he returns,
05:13because, again, the All-Star break, a little bit longer than it used to be,
05:16about a week now in the NBA.
05:18Okay, so meanwhile, with the Thunder missing some players,
05:20naturally they're going to lose some games here, you would expect.
05:22And they did yesterday to the San Antonio Spurs, 116-106.
05:26Victor Wimbayama, 22 points, 14 rebounds.
05:30Mark Dagnos with an undermanned team, to say the least.
05:33Here he was after the game yesterday.
05:35Yeah, I mean, obviously great effort by everybody.
05:38You know, try to gut that one out.
05:40We had some guys play high minutes and a long stretch there in the fourth,
05:44because we were just kind of trying to stay with the game.
05:46But I thought, you know, outside of the first quarter,
05:50you know, really pretty competitive on our part.
05:51We won the second half, guarded them really well in the second half,
05:54held them under 50 points, I think.
05:56So a lot of good things from tonight.
05:58Obviously not enough to win the game, which we wanted to do,
06:01but some positives we can take from it.
06:04Meanwhile, the New York Knicks keep winning.
06:06How about this?
06:07134-127.
06:09Jalen Brunson had 42 points in this one.
06:11Nikola Jokic finally got his first triple-double since being back from injury.
06:15Knicks are four-and-a-half-point favorites.
06:17They win in double overtime thanks to the heroics of Brunson.
06:20Here's Mike Brown on that.
06:22What a ball game.
06:24Man, our team just, you know, showed a lot of grit, a lot of fight, you know,
06:29in this win.
06:30Just a resilient win by our guys.
06:33You know, we got beat in a few areas that, you know,
06:38when you look at the box score, you think you should lose,
06:40especially versus a good team.
06:41And, you know, one of them is from the free throw line.
06:45You know, they had 27 to our 19.
06:48But our guys just found a way.
06:51And, you know, the resiliency from our group really showed.
06:55We had six turnovers in the first half.
06:57We had six turnovers combined in the second half plus the two overtimes.
07:03It was a really fun game.
07:04You know, those are the games that are memorable.
07:05Obviously, the loss sucks, but that's a game that could have gone either way
07:11at any time, at any point in the overtime,
07:14at any point in the fourth quarter.
07:15So, you know, those are the games you want to be a part of.
07:19Unfortunately, we didn't come up on the side that we wanted to.
07:22But, yeah, they're a good team.
07:26And we came up short tonight.
07:31Timberwolves beat the Raptors at a close one yesterday, 128 to 126.
07:35They were two-and-a-half-point favorites.
07:36Vegas always knows all.
07:38Raptors led by 14, entering the fourth quarter.
07:40So, Minnesota picks up a big win there.
07:43Celtics defeat the Rockets, 114 to 93.
07:45Rockets were eight-and-a-half-point favorites.
07:47Derek White had 28 points.
07:48Peyton Pritchard had 27 points as well.
07:51Let's get to some college basketball.
07:53Minnesota beats the prominent Michigan State Spartans.
07:57Big upset last night, 76 to 73.
08:01Michigan State guard Jeremy Fears had a technical foul for kicking a player below the belt.
08:06Yikes.
08:06Probably be suspended here.
08:08And also, Portland upsets number six, Gonzaga, 87 to 80.
08:13That ends the Zags' 15-game winning streak.
08:17Northwestern also fell to Illinois, 17 threes, 84 to 44 the final.
08:2544 points in a college basketball game.
08:28That would be one of the lowest in Division I this season.
