00:00But let's start off with the National Football League. Some big news yesterday is Nolan Smith,
00:03one of the better players on the defensive side of the Eagles, has been arrested, accused of
00:08speeding and reckless driving in Georgia. This is what the Twigs County Sheriff Office told ESPN
00:13on Wednesday. Clocked at 70 miles or 135 miles an hour in a 70 mile an hour zone, he made
00:20bond.
00:20But naturally, this could affect the Eagles' upcoming season. Meanwhile, in the NBA last
00:25night, things went as planned for the Oklahoma City Thunder. They win 122-113 and just covered
00:31that spread, 7.5 points. But Jalen Williams, who already missed six playoff games with a hamstring
00:36strain, left this one again. So we'll see if he is healthy for the next one. Shea Gilgis-Alexander
00:42had 30 points. Alex Caruso had 17 points off the bench. That was the key there. Wembe had a nice
00:48game, by the way, 21 points, 17 rebounds, and six assists. But it was not enough. But the offensive
00:53efficiency, seemingly the key for Mark Dagneau and the Thunder, here he was after the game.
00:58Talked about efficiency offensively, not just being shot making, but shot locations,
01:04assist to turnover. What did you make of the efficiency you had on offense generally tonight?
01:09Yeah, we're a lot better, obviously. I thought some of that was just us playing better. You know,
01:15we just didn't play a great game the other night. Some of that stuff, just watching on film,
01:20you're sitting there like, if we say nothing and do nothing, we'll just play better. And then I did
01:25think we got some fundamentals in the game that are critical against this team, and it gave us
01:30some cracks. I just thought the overall flow tonight, rhythm, was really good. Put everybody
01:35at advantages. We had our foot on the gas. It was a real positive game in that respect.
01:40Down Fox, then Harper's out. What kind of pressure does that put on the rest of your backcourt in a
01:45game like this? A ton. You know, obviously this team is as good as anybody. It turned you over,
01:50so when you're down some of your primary creators and initiators, it causes a little bit of an extra
01:58strain, whether that's who to play, what to play, what to run, et cetera, et cetera. And we'll just
02:05have to be sharper in that area because it's tough, fully loaded against these guys. So we obviously,
02:1127 points off turnovers is not a winning formula. Meanwhile, the NBA's MVP bounced back after a tough
02:18game one for a solid game two. Here's Shea Gilgis-Alexander on his 30-point performance.
02:24I just, I just have sucked when I get two months of a break. I don't think it's anything other
02:31than
02:32that. I don't know. I guess I got to do a better job in my breaks, especially during the playoffs.
02:40I don't know if it's anything other than that, to be honest.
02:43Yeah. And I think it was like 42 seconds like you hit that midi that you were trying to hit
02:48for like two minutes straight. And you told the guys, all right, I'm like, calm, calm down.
02:53I'm going to shut it explicitly, but calm down. What'd you, what'd you feel in that moment to tell
02:57him that? No, I just, Jared was yelling at me while I was shooting. And I was just like,
03:02bro, I'm shooting. Don't distract me. So yeah, that's all that. It wasn't, I wasn't telling,
03:07I was literally just telling Jared to calm down, but that's what great shooters do. Like,
03:11you know, when they're open. So yeah, we have shit that worked out.
03:14All right. We'll see now with things, of course, shifting back to San Antonio, how the Spurs
03:19will rebound. Meanwhile, Shohei Ohtani's uneven season wasn't that last night. Hasn't had the
03:26best offensive season, but has pitched great last night. Did both. Ended up pitching and hitting
03:30in the Dodgers. Four to nothing win in their showdown with the San Diego Padres. Ohtani five innings
03:36pitched in four strikeouts and also hit a home run. Ohtani after the game probably did not have
03:42his best stuff only going five innings, but manager Dave Roberts said it was enough.
03:47Well, Dave, first, just with Shohei Ohtani tonight, what were you seeing from him as he
03:50navigated through five innings? Did it feel like it was a grind, but also just how he was able to
03:54do it?
03:56I thought it was a little bit of a grind in the sense that I don't think he felt his
04:01best.
04:02I think in that third or fourth inning, you can see him putting the governor on his fastball and
04:09just managing it and then reaching back for more when he needed to. I don't think he had his best
04:15stuff tonight, but he found a way to get big outs when he needed to. Got that fielder's choice to
04:24hold
04:24the runner at third base right there. Got a big double play. So yeah, it was good. And, you know,
04:31five innings, you know, the pitch count got up there and I felt that was all he had to give
04:36us
04:36tonight. Meanwhile, the Reds beat the Phillies yesterday. Reds finally take care of the red hot
04:43Phillies who seem to win every series under Don Mattingly. This was the first one that he did not
04:47win as skipper of the Phillies. Sal Stewart was the story yesterday, maybe rookie of the year in
04:53the National League. He had four hits and said after the game, he was locked in a struggle on
04:58the road for you guys of late. What is this victory in this series victory mean to you guys? Yeah,
05:03it means a lot. You know, we kind of went through a rough patch there and the resilience that this
05:07team has is second to none. And I always trust these guys and I know we're going to keep coming
05:12out
05:12here and playing hard. So man, I love these guys and I love playing. I love coming out here. So
05:16I'm happy
05:16that we got the series win. How about the hottest team in the American League? That's got to be the
05:21Tampa Bay Rays that just keep winning. They swept the Orioles are 9-0 against the American League East
05:25this season and they came back to win 5-3. 13th comeback win of the year. Hunter Fiduccia ended
05:32up hitting a home run and Jonathan Aranda is having a nice season as well. Said they just keep rolling.
05:38Johnny, 13th comeback victory of the year for you guys. You're down there. You wait on that changeup.
05:44Take me through the approach to tie this game and ultimately help this team come back to win.
05:48Yeah, I was waiting for my at-bat the entire time, right? I knew once I was coming up that
05:52this was
05:52going to be the big at-bat of the day and I just pushed out all the negative thoughts and
05:56hopefully
05:57or thankfully I came through. Brewers beat the Cubs 5-0 yesterday. So speaking of hot,
06:03they win a slight road dogs and the Cubs have now lost five straight games and nine out of 11.
06:09How about that? Kyle Harrison, what a great trade it was getting him in the fold for Milwaukee.
06:1311 strikeouts in seven innings, but things seemingly going a little south for the Cubs. Here's Craig
06:19Council. Well, this is our job, man. You get an off day and that's nice and you get a little
06:27break
06:27from it. You get a little time to reflect and then you come out and you got another game to
06:33win
06:34and that's the schedule. It forces you to move on.
06:38Trey Ysavage of the Toronto Blue Jays seemingly picking up where he left off last year.
06:43He won yesterday and pitched six innings, eight strikeout ball. Cam Schlittler, who's the current
06:49Cy Young Award favorite in the American League, didn't get much offense, but it certainly was a
06:55duel down to the wire. Here's Schlittler afterward on his duel with Ysavage.
07:00And there were a lot of expectations of you meeting up against Ysavage. What was it like
07:05for you? He's a good player. Yeah, it was a good battle there. Obviously slipped away
07:10from me there towards the end, but again, I like the fight we had, you know, in that last
07:14inning. I thought it was a great rally. So again, unfortunately we came up short, but
07:18you know, I get out of that inning, maybe again, probably a different outcome to that game.
07:23And Schlittler is still the favorite, by the way, to win the American League Cy Young. Now let's get
07:28to the Stanley Cup playoffs where we're cruising toward the finals here. The Golden Knights beat
07:32the Avs four to two. So they open up with a series win. And then tonight we've got game one
07:38of the
07:38Eastern Conference finals. I know a lot of anticipation for this one, certainly for the
07:43Montreal Canadiens and Canada in general, but look at this. Minus 200 for Carolina going into game one
07:51of the Eastern Conference finals. By the way, total of five and a half in this one as well.
