00:00Want to give you a better view of radar just to see that we have had at least that one
00:04severe thunderstorm warning Chicago. It's mostly not even thunderstorms, though. As you can see, it doesn't take a thunderstorm to
00:12have some negative impacts that really slow things down. We're going to continue to watch this the next several hours,
00:17but this is the general area that we're talking about for severe weather. Now it's one of those situations we
00:23could have just a couple of severe storms this whole evening and that's that and a lot of you will
00:29say I
00:29didn't have any severe weather. What were you talking about? It's how these severe days go sometimes that it's very
00:35spotty severe weather, but we want you to be prepared just in case that severe storm hits your backyard. The
00:43threats we're looking at damaging wind up to 75 miles an hour and hail mostly smaller hail is what we
00:49would expect, but just something to be prepared for as you're going through the rest of your evening. So continuing
00:54on here, we're seeing our window of when we likely have severe storms.
00:59It's a narrow window in this situation through from now through about 637 8 p.m. That's when we see
01:08those individual storms and then we start to see things cool down. That line moves into the Ohio Valley, but
01:15doesn't necessarily pose a severe threat could have some problems for your morning commute and portions of Ohio, though. So
01:20heads up that you might want to give yourself a little bit of extra time when we look at tomorrow
01:25as a whole. It's less about the rain as it's moving out and more
01:29about the temperature contrast. A lot of times in this region, it is a very different forecast from west to
01:36east or from north to south. In this scenario, it's west east that we're watching. Look at Chicago, a few
01:41degrees shy of your historical average. So really, generally speaking, you're in the ballpark where you should be. But then
01:46Rapid City, I mean, we're closing in on 25, 30 degrees warmer than we typically would be this time of
01:54year. You should be in the 60s. Instead, we have a forecast high
01:56and 90 tomorrow. If you're a lover of the heat, well, enjoy it while you can. Thursday, it's more of
02:02the same story that we do see some rain returning. That's just not necessarily the biggest impact. I do want
02:09to show you on future radar and clouds, though, what that looks like because, again, I want you to be
02:12prepared. We're going to skip through the rest of this evening because we covered that. But tomorrow morning, once again,
02:18southern Ohio especially could see some problems on your morning commute. We go through Wednesday. We get into Thursday. That
02:23next system from the west starts to move in.
02:25It breaks up a little bit over the Rockies. And then as it works its way across the northern plains,
02:31it starts to get its acts together. Once again, more of that line forming some downpours overnight Friday, Thursday into
02:38Friday. So very early morning hours of Fridays when we get to Chicago. So better timing there compared to today
02:44where we've seen some headaches. Most widespread rain down into the Ohio Valley. So kind of southern portions of the
02:50region. The heat, though, we get into the Dakotas by the time we get to Thursday coming close to
02:55the previous records. We're off by nine, 10 degrees. But you know what? It's still as much warmer than we
03:00typically would be at this point in the year. This heat is going to spread its way to the east
03:05by the time we get to the weekend.
