Gusty winds and flurries across New England ahead of possible wintry weather next week

Multiple fronts continue to bring wet, chilly weather to the Northeast.

00:00Winter is off to an early start. That's tonight's top story.

00:03Chilly, blustery winds moving through the northeast to last night and into early this morning.

00:07Powerful gusts brought down leaves, limbs, and power lines.

00:11Meanwhile, fast-moving clipper system is delivering the season's first widespread snowfall across the north-central U.S.

00:16this weekend from Minnesota to Michigan, a few inches possible all through the weekend.

00:21Temperatures will tumble, dipping into the teens and 20s, even reaching parts of the southeast.

00:27We can take you to Bar Harbor, Maine, here on the east side of the area around Mount Desert Island, home to Acadia National Park.

00:36Here we go, and a great clear view there.

00:38I know some places still really holding on to the clouds from this last system, but Bar Harbor looking pretty good there.

00:44Clear skies, though the sun has set at this point.

00:47Temperatures in the low 40s. We only go down from here.

00:50Well, that's a little bit of a lie.

00:52We're on a little bit of a roller coaster when it comes to the temperatures.

00:55We'll break that down in a second, but let's talk about the wind gusts.

00:58That's been the big problem the last 24 hours, with gusts more than 50 miles per hour, even more than 60 miles per hour,

01:04leading to a lot of that damage.

01:06The trees down, tree limbs down, damage to buildings, power lines.

01:11Let's take a look at how things stand right now.

01:13Moving in the right direction, still 15,000 without power in Pennsylvania.

01:17A lot of this in the northeast corner of the state overall.

01:21Those wind gusts, they are getting better.

01:24A lot of us not registering any gusts at the last observation at those specific weather stations,

01:29though still 5 to 10 mile per hour sustained wind speeds, but 28 mile per hour gusts right now in Portland.

01:36That's gone up a little bit in the last half hour.

01:39Temperatures have dropped after this storm, too.

01:41That cold front contributing to the roller coaster I was talking about.

01:45We've had a difference of 23 degrees in Scranton.

01:48We're 23 degrees cooler.

01:50Pittsburgh about 15 degrees lower as far as those temperatures.

01:54We look ahead to tomorrow.

01:55We moderate a little bit.

01:56We're seeing our highs in the low 50s.

01:58Burlington, Albany, Buffalo in the mid 50s, but showers all around.

02:03Here's the next system on future radar.

02:04Now, two things to point out.

02:06Not a big wind event like the last couple systems we've had.

02:09So you get a little bit of a break.

02:10Still, it's a storm.

02:12It moves through, brings some breezy conditions, but nothing like what we saw the last 24 hours.

02:16Also, not a lot of rain.

02:18It's going to come through, bring a heavy downpour as this line moves through with the front,

02:23but we're talking of rain totals a couple tenths of an inch, well under an inch overall.

02:28Instead, it sets the stage, ushers in some cooler air for Sunday-Monday's system where we do end up with the snow.

02:37Here's your footprint overall Monday into Tuesday.

02:40Could see some heavier squalls, but overall, we're not talking crazy rainfall totals,

02:44even though lake effect snow is going to be on the table, especially in those areas in darker blue.

02:50But we're talking likely about six inches in the heaviest band.

02:53Still, something to be prepared for.

02:55But before we get the snow here, Jeff, we're going to see it farther to the west.

02:59Yeah, this is going to be a clipper that precedes the opportunity for lake effect snow.

03:02And right now, one front that's on the map is not producing a whole lot of snow.

03:07This one is the predecessor to the front that brings bigger change.

03:11So there is a kind of an underwhelming front here with some scattered showers tied to this.

03:15And there's a little bit of snow up in northern parts of Minnesota.

03:17This is a Farm to tend to camp.

03:31So I'll give you a little bitch, bublish.

03:32So that's kind of an interesting, why should we know Jesus at the妈.

03:35And I'll give you a little bite of him.

03:36I won't give a real quick an associate with him for this Friday week.

03:38No, I'll give you a little trust.

03:40We'll give you a little invested, and we'll do it last week.

03:41And蛋an Hausman is on close, and we'll get to this episode at Florida.

03:43So it doesn't really move at all of your time.
